The thing about it is the real ones can see right through the BS but you got to earn the respect. When I was locked up I knew my buddies had my back and they knew I had theirs. I don't want a coward that's gonna tuck tail cause when shit goes down he gonna be a target. I want someone that's gonna fight for theirs. That's how you earn respect. The cowards get preyed on. Predators always go for the ones they know won't fight back.

I’m a pretty short guy. From 16-28 I was very skinny and strung-out. I’m a 4x felon (separate bids)- I’ve done about 2 1/2 years collectively across 3 different counties in Florida.
I only ever had 1 incident, and it wasn’t even shit.
I kept to myself and read. A LOT.
Keep to yourself, mind your business, and if someone DOES try to “put down”; be ready to squabble.
I was “targeted” more by COs than anyone

Only here in USA and of course Mexico and other countries around here prisons/jails are the worst . Europe NOT AT ALL when u in the prison in Europe u don’t even mind at all . I’m not saying in every country however in many of em tho . In Germany i was in one prison where I had a cell by myself, toilet that’s separate from ur shower , nice bed , tv , phone and guess what else I had in that prison I had a DAMN KEY 🔑 TO MY CELL . Every time we’d leave the cell you take that key you lock it so nobody can go in there and steal shit from you or set you up . Since we was on this little island we wasn’t able to go home over the weekend however your wife , Parents , gfs could come and spend time with you , there was restaurant , ice cream place where you guys could go together to eat , hung out , visitors just couldn’t stay the night with you , they would stay at this little hotel . Than when I was in prison in Switzerland , I had a huge cell by myself , clean as hell , my own bathroom with shower of course and the bed was a huge queen size bed with a mattress , nice phone with a video , my own cable tv and the computer. The food we’d get was great , steaks , chicken , anything you’d eat outside we had it inside . Toilet paper , tooth paste , and everything else would be given to us when ever we ran out all ud have to do is ask for it and you get it ! On top of that if you behaved u could leave for the weekend to the home Or wherever u want to go and of course we had visits and if ur wife / gf is coming , you could request a Love Room !
So it’s nothing like it is here , were when they lock u up nobody gives a shit bout you ! Even in jail or prison guys are not suppose to shower together , or shit together . We should have to BUY toilet paper . We should be able to leave for the weekend if we have behaved . We should be able to have visits and a love room ! But no they treat us like animals don’t matter what you have done . How can u punish someone who did something little or self defense but somehow ended up in jail ( that happens a lot ) and he/she would be put with same ppl serving life sentences for doing crazy crimes . Shit don’t make sense at all !

Just wanted to tell a quick story on this. I walked into Watsonville Jail in 2005 with some felony charges (wound up walking away, but that's another story). When I walked in to that mod I was going through serious h withdrawal. Didn't eat anything but the milk on the tray for four days. Also barely left the cell. On the fifth day I got up from another sleepless night of kickin and there were 20 milks (plus or minus one or two). Quickly realized that all these yelling taunting gangsters in the pod had sent their milks down to the poor white boy kicking hard in the corner cell. Nothing like that happened in previous or future times I'd get in to, stuff... Just felt the need to share that as it's kinda the opposite. For real though, on a different note, I appreciate your channel and content. Thanks for what you do!

Facts! I wasn't a big guy when I started my bid, about 150 at 5 foot 9, but I carried myself with heart and it was well known I trained and fought boxing and jujitsu. I was more trouble then I was worth tyoe of guy lol.
I was only 18 when I walked into a maximum security prison with a 14 year bid. I did time with made men, old timers that were westies, even shared a court with Rooney , the guy from amityville horror lol.
I became a beast over the years. In the end I spent my last 5 getting an education and being calm, which was great honestly. I had my warrior years and was able to walk slow and just bid quietly, thank God.
Came home 220 solid but peaceful. Now I'm older , have a family, and those skills helped my life so much it's crazy. My situational awareness is amazing lol.

What you said about this topic was as true as could be. I found myself in general population at twin towers in the city of Angels at age 40, and never once in my life did it occur to me that the possibility of any kind of detention would befall me. I was there for six months in general pop, on a felony evasion charge. Ran from a speeding ticket, landed me in the pen for 2.5 years. Dont do it. Take the ticket and be polite. I had a clean record, and I was looking at 8 years before lawyering up. Crazy.
Anyhow being new to all of the things that the other half face daily was an education to say the least. Average Joe Citizen is looking at culture shock on a shingle when it comes, and the experience is going to change the way they will perceive the world for the rest of their lives. It did for me. Im actually thankful for having gone through it. I relate to many more people now, I also can tell the difference between when you are being manipulated or when I am being useful, solely dependent on
how a person asks me. That is something directly learned from by dealing with the testing that goes on when you are locked up. Very cool of you to help people deal with the realities of pre/post imprisonment situations here. I personally don’t talk about the impression or impact on myself this event has brought me, as nobody relates in my own circles..so your content has been useful for me in my own looking back and trying to sort positive things out of it. Idk if you have covered this topic but I was the guy who never anticipated seeing any time in prison, and the information you share here can seriously save people from unnecessary conflict, testing or being a mark for targeted harassment. All of it is true, and the culture shock, on top of the politics and the fear that people like me go through when this becomes where you find yourself, can absolutely make things worse for you.
Here’s something I had to learn on my own. And this happened in a LA county jail awaiting my trial for running from a traffic stop..hardcore og charges for sure, so my paperwork didnt do much to help my respectability. once I was told I needed to show this to the Rep. of the pod, initially I refused. I had no clue what the protocol was, and I wasnt going to run with racial bias or affiliation with any established gang. I figured it was a mistake I was even there, and that my case was so low tier, that I would be able to bide my time, keep to myself and be out without need for any of that noise. So I just ignored the request. Thank God my bunkie gave me advice to the contrary, and if I didnt show my processing paperwork and charges to the rep, it would be assumed I was there on some sexual accusations and be dealt with accordingly. There are some things that even criminals find to be criminal.. and thats acts against women or children that are physically or sexually based. These documents are checked by your representative to clear you off of that category of inmate, and keep you alive. Otherwise, and for the unfortunate people convicted of these charges, there is almost a zero percent chance they will make it home

I look for two things when I see TH-camrs
1: the editing and visual production of the video they made and the quality of it. They're not just sitting in front of a white wall reading pre-written stuff just to put content out and collect the money.
2: if the host is charismatic and seems to be genuine not doing it solely for the money. Being passionate about the content you're putting out is something I take into consideration when watching videos on TH-cam.
Either one of those. I think you check both of those boxes because I get the feeling you're absolutely genuine about the stuff you talk about

In reference to what Josh is discussing at (roughly) 31 mins: the main difference I see between "influence" and "manipulation" is intent. When you tell your viewers what a wonderful chair the one you're sitting on is, do you truly believe that this is a great chair for
people with lower back pain or are you using your position of influence to solely profit from the sales that your recommendation will bring in? If you honestly believe in your endorsement then yes, you may be influencing people's choice of chair but it's as much for their benefit as it is for your wallet. Even though you've profited from their purchase, they've also benefited.
Everyone wins. If you were recommending a sub-par product that you knew wasn't worth the cost but you endorsed the product anyway simply because the company pays you- that's manipulation because only you profit from the situation and you used your position of influence and popularity to line your pockets with your fan's hard earned dollars. As long as your intent is sincere and you truly believe what you're on here "selling" (chairs or suggestions for an inmate's first day on the block) then I think you being an influencer is a good thing. Keep your intentions clean and your message honest and you'll always be solid, hun!

I already knew a ton of these, but it’s good to know the context and meaning about “WHY” these scenarios happen. I’ve never been to jail/prison but a lot of this stuff happens on the streets. People lack respect for others these days.

When I was in gun club correctional facility down in palm beach county Florida(woman's side) there was no toilet paper. I was in medical before I was transferred to the unit. I shared a cell with an older women(early-mid 60's) who is one of the nicest woman I've ever met in my life I wish I remembered her name! Before I was transferred out she handed a few things(she was very wealthy, I was coming off heroin & was very sick. She told me I reminded her of her daughter I think that's why she helped me) In the things she gave me was roll of toilet paper and told me to take it with me that I was going to need it upstairs. I said what do you mean and she said the facility doesn't provide toilet paper! She told me to trade pieces of it to some of the women for other items or phone calls 😲! You're givin a certain number of napkins with each meal and that is your toilet paper for the day if you don't have commissary 😩🤦🏼‍♀️😡!!! When I got into that unit the women flocked me over toilet paper!!!! The woman also had given me five tampons and told me to use those to trade or to hold on to them in case I needed them, the cell block was so overcrowded that people were sleeping in boats and the TV room and a woman actually gave me her bunk for 4 of the tampons & 15 squares of toilet paper that's how unbelievably awful they treat you inhumane!!! I was very lucky that I got bonded out after 5 days of being in unit(spent 5 in medical)

I find this content fascinating. Knowledge is always a good thing. I've never been to prison. Oh I've been handcuffed and taken to jail before but that's it. But I've lived long enough to know you should try to never say never. Because shit happens. Case in point here's an actual factual true story happened yesterday in downtown Chattanooga TN. There is a little park area near where I live. I like to roll a hog leg joint of sticky bud and go there and smoke it. Mind you I'm discreet as feasibly possible always keeping an eye on my surroundings. Yesterday though CPD bicycle cop rolled right the fuck up on me making eye contact with me mid toke. I just dropped it. He asked me if I was smoking pot. What the fuck could I say with half a joint still smoldering between my feet? I told indeed I was and that I was sorry for the illegal act. I told him I respected his job and I wouldn't do it again and I understood what would happen next. He said relax nobody's going to jail. I don't detect malicious intent and I appreciate your not trying to lie. Don't smoke weed here anymore though. It's too public and out in the open. Then he said have a safe day and he rode off leaving me sitting there with my heart racing trying to not shit myself. True story.

When I first went in a big fella approached me the first day and took me under his wing. I felt a little uncomfortable at first. The way he kept putting his arm around me and following me everywhere I went….as luck would have it, turned out he was a really generous man. He shared his commissary with me the first few days. I didn’t lack for anything. Honey buns, hygiene, you name it. Big homie held me down. Then the other shoe dropped. This big 6,8” corn fed country boy showed up at my cell one night fully aroused. I’ve never seen such sight. Then it happened…this monster demanded that I pay back his zoom zooms and wham whams 2 for 1.
Imagine that. 100% interest. And I thought the credit card companies were taking me for a ride

Heij! I had my run in the German system. I had nothing, withdraw from alcohol and valium, felt like shit. When I reached my facility I was double lucky: I met somebody whom I knew from my town and I did not take that little crumb of hash someone laid on my table one day.
It was just like You told: he rolled up, checked me out, asked questions and put that little ass crumb of dope on my table.
I was respectful, he left. When he came back the crumb still layed on the same spot, I didn´t even touch it. He never came back, I didn´t know it then but that gave me respect.
German prison, The Game is the same but (didn´t know that then) I found my track, I worked from the first day I could because I WAS pisspoor. I dind´t gamble, only did pills around cristmas, was respectful, no drama, no big problems. I had good times, met some good lads.
Took me some time but now I´m a happy member of society, with two cats and a pretty good life. I even own a piano, now- imagine that.
I guess I grew up. Thanks Josh, be safe. Better safe than sorry!

Gad. Just listening to Death talk about prison life makes me shudder. It sounds like a bunch of really insecure, uneducated, immature vultures. I would pretend to respect them, but most likely I would only like a few of them and the rest I would call pretty much wastes of skin. Hyenas, yelling and victimizing weaker inmates. What a wonderful place to be. NOT

I've only seen this a hand full of times. A dude will come into the block or a pod and as soon as he gets there he drops his netbag right at the sally port. Then he walks laps vigorously , making eye contact with no one just parading himself around so everyone can get a good look at him. THAT is the dude you do not want to play with. This means here I am am, take a look , and try me if thats what it is. After about 10 minutes of spinning the housing area he retrieves his net bag and finds his bunk. Out of all my time that guy sticks with me, he wasn't scared of anything or anyone without even taking inventory of who was living there.. That is real deal ready to die ish
