  • New 5/20/2021 TH-cam Terms of Service UPDATE (read more if you got an ad or to download the ebook):
Simone Weil was a fascinating and enigmatic French philosopher writing in the early 20th century. Her book on political party abolition is prescient, and I believe worth either a read or a listen, but don't take some stranger's word for it. Read it for yourself: libcom.org/lib...
Update: I uploaded this audiobook reading in a myopically emotional and futile attempt to outrun perniciously encroaching neoliberalism, but it appears TH-cam has changed its policies to monetize every single video on the platform regardless of whether or not they pay "creators" (lol this is not a real job or at least it shouldn't be), and for that, sharing in your annoyance, I apologize. This was probably inevitable (TH-cam is at base a business disguised as a public forum), but it highlights the internet's emancipatory and market tensions. It doesn't have to be this way, but it isn't all bad--and the air conditioned nightmare of capitalism continues. Onwards--towards vague misery!

You're in luck! Much of Simone Weil's most important stuff has already been converted into audiobook format. If you're interested in more readings, writings, and analysis of Weil's work, visit attentionsw.org/
If you had a particular text in mind, let me know and I'll try to find the time to commit it to audio. Mind, my equipment is working-class Zoom-based garbage, but it'd be my pleasure to record something of her's not yet widely available.

@@ChristisLOVE737 Thank you! That's far too kind for my impromptu attempt at sharing this text with the world, but I'll take it. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoy knowing people still appreciate her. I recommend her essay on the metaphysics of human rights, dignity, and political obligation which I've recently recorded as well, with far less of my unnecessary commentary. XD
If you'd like me to read any of her or another thinker's work I'd be more than happy to once I get some down time from grad school, research, and the current travails of my love life.

Now that's a work. I reckon I could put it out by this summer. Rip Bookchin--decades ahead of his time, and in most ways he still is!

Love that you're doing this, but could you read a little slower, this is philosophy after all. Appreciate this, just the same! Thanks!
