I got the Adira, and maybe the mini is different, but the grivory on Adira is solid. Not flexy or cheap feeling at all. I usually prefer G10 but here the grivory is better,
Very thorough presentation. On thing I recommend Benchmade (and I hope someone from Benchmade reads this) is to offer both of these knives with a semi-serrated edge. For knives aiming at cutting wet rope this configuration is a must!!!
I live less than a mile away from Benchmade…they USED to give 30% discount for military…dropped to 15% industry standard, but being able to go in and have anything done in minutes whether it’s sharpening an M4 or damasteel, or engraving, it takes minutes while I avoid trying to purchase another. If I lived next to some other top notch knife company, I’d probably be purchasing those. I’m an Oregonian and even though they originated in San Diego, they have been and Oregon company for some time. Convenience with great customer service is why I pay.
I see the Adira line as the answer for people who want Adamas dimensions but with a blade that can actually slice through something (thinner, no coating). Oh wait - that's me!
I’ve had the mini grip as my edc for almost ten years. Time to upgrade, mini adira coming today. Little bit bigger and better steel, plus grip design is better too. I have the auto Triage as my go to larger knife, plus a plethora of other knives, but Benchmade are my go to. Thanks Benchmade for making great sturdy knives.
I'm going with the large. I love my large Crooked River. This knife also reminds me of the Benchmade Skirmish. Hopefully they'll come out with different scales to purchase.
Good review! I don't know why but I can't stop looking at these. They aren't the best looking but I like them! I thought I'd like the mini better, but seeing how large the full size is, I'd rather have the full! I think one reason I like then is because they remind me of like a water Griptillian and I LOVE the Griptillian. It's one of my favorite Benchmade knives. The blade looks real similar. I do love how they make full size and Mini versions of everything almost. I'm gonna have to get at least the large one of these at some point!
I think that one of those would be a perfect summer knife for me. I live in an extremely humid state, and my second job is around water a lot. I think they’d be a great fit for my edc
There’s a dude on YT that tested them. All of the internals on the benchmade are not rustproof, if you are doing light use around a lake or something it should be fine. The Spyderco had zero rust on any component. Spyderco did tons or R&D to make sure every component was rust free. If your around the ocean id go Spyderco. If your taking it in salt water get the lc200N
I’m seriously thinking about getting one of these for my summer time edc…..I do a lot of outdoor stuff here in Cali,Mostly hiking and spending a lot time at different beaches👍🏻🙂Also have to make the choice of full size or mini.
Bought the knife. Right out of the box there is side to side blade play. Tightening the screw fixes it but can open and close it that smooth like in the video after tightening enough to get rid of the play. Not worth the price.
🤷♂️ It’s a bronze/phos washer knife. So whoever assembled left it on the loose side. Snug of the pivot screw so there is no side to side play then use the knife for a couple weeks, repeat. Once it’s fully broken-in apply Loctite 290 (green medium strength, designed specifically for set screws) to the pivot screw and tighten to the point where side-to-side play eliminated and there is slight drag to the blade closing. Do NOT tune for free falling action at this point Allow the Loctite to cure 20-30 min min before fidgeting Once again in a week or two the blade action will loosen but it will more stable this time as the washers and liners have worn together. Now apply a lubricant like Benchmade Bluelube (or comparable) to the washers and enjoy glassy, fast action ALL cross-bar knives on washers will go through this to a degree. This really isn’t a Benchmade quality issue If out of the box action with zero side-to-side play is your criteria for “worth the price” never buy a knife on washers. Never All bronze/phos washer knives go through this, from Chris Reeves, to Spyderco, to Benchmade. Chris Reeves and Spyderco ALSO don’t develop that glassy smooth, fast action that people associate with them out of the box. That generally comes with age and use
I just got mine, all the packaging feels very premium but I’m totally underwhelmed with the quality and build of the handle, if feels plasticky, has flex in it, and the inside edges of the handle feel sharp ish, not a good finish at all. I have about a dozen different Benchmade and like them all, this one however, not happy with my purchase.
@@Joe-om8rrthere’s the native, para 3 lw, and the series with endura and endela. Lots of better options. And even then, you’re getting better quality with a little bit more for the PM2 in magnacut and G10 handles. Everyone knows Spyderco’s heat treatment is better than Benchmades too.

This whole "these are for use around the water" thing has gotten out of hand already. Sounds like an Ad. Corrosion resistant steel, that's all. Nah, Benchmade is more like Apple or Toyota than anything. There is definitely a brand upcharge - you pay a lot upfront for the product (comparatively) but you DO benefit from intangibles. - Incredibly strong resell market, it’s easy to sell Benchmade you decide you don’t need or don’t really like - Low depreciation compared to other production brands - Incredibly strong aftermarket - Excellent customer support/warranty - Excellent dealer network Benchmade has become popular to hate among the knife-geek crowd but I find many of the complaints often don’t take the full picture into account thus leaving the “haters” pretty toothless at this point

Super helpful for the size comparisons alone. Many thanks! Can’t believe how huge the full-size is!
