Pillow Pets are SUPER nostalgic to me. My very first one was a polar bear, and although I don't remember what I named the polar bear, I do distinctively remember picking the polar bear because of Coca Cola's polar bear mascots. I still have it and a few other pillow pets somewhere. Fur Berries are also super nostalgic, but I don't remember where mine went. The Fuzzoodles dog looks like the one frame of a sad Spongebob with a single tear that became a meme. Speaking of Fuzzooodles, I don't get the point of them. With Mr. Potato Head, even if he was a potato, there was still various different ways to dress him up.
The take that somehow even modern as seen on tv toy ads look like they were done in the late 90's has to be the most accurate statement I've ever heard and never before considered. Makes me want to find a compilation of the ads and draw a little animal face on my plate while I eat as wax poetic over my unanswered longing for Zoopals plates.
I had 2 pillow pets the lady bug one (that I loved to death as a small child) and the bee one which I got years later. I also remember seeing as seen on tv sections in stores and whole entire dedicated stores to these products in the mall. I saw one recently at a dead mall me and my friend go to from time to time and most of the store was stuffed animals and random stuff for around the house work and had the same ad for this laundry machine product playing on repeat. I was surprised on how many of these commercials were in the back of my head just chilling lol. Great video!! ^_^
I think the only "Seen on TV" Thing my family ever really bought was the Snuggie, basically a blanket with sleeves. I always just wore it as a robe like Darth Vader or a sith lord.
I have room in my mind for exactly three tv commercial jingles. "It's a pillow, it's a pet, it's a pillow pet!" "Get connected for FREE with education connection!" And "Our God is an awesome god he reigns from heaven above"
I remember Bunchems! I heard that like you have to be careful with them because they can get stuck in your hair and they are hard to get out of ur hair
I've never heard of ball pets, but I have heard of hideaway pets which are pretty much the exact same concept, plushies that can turn into balls. I had the hedgehog one
I actually had a pillowpet (the purple and pink butterfly one) and my friend had the ladybug one and the mini unicorn star projector one. Honestly, they were great but they got gross so quickly because of the stuff they were made of and the 'fur' would get a weird texture from that. But yeah other than that pillowpets were the best
to be fair i was never a stuffed animal washing person / family so i don't doubt that it would go that way?? but like yea i definitely get what you mean, like the fur getting all flat and matted and pilling a little bit but ofc that's inevitable with every stuffed toy that gets loved :3c to be loved is to be changed
There is actually a compatible bunchems bunchbot product, and the video "how to build with bunchbot" states to tie hair back before play, which is a very good move of safety on their part
My dad bought a Fushigi ball, he thought it was really neat. He was surprised when he found out the ball was heavy, and was to not be dropped on the tile floor. My dad lost interest in it after a while, now it sits in a cabinet on its stand.
I was expecting the Freddy Fazbear one but it still jumpscared me (P.S. I had a unicorn pillow pet growing up, but right now I think the frog looks very polite and he is my new favorite)
Ball Pets did had original animals like a unicorn and a dragon, in which Fur Berries never made. They might've used unreleased prototypes as pattern bases.

I don't remember having a pillow pet as a kid, but I do remember having a dream lite. I got one at age 6 because I was scared of being in the dark when I finally had to sleep in my own room every night (although now that I think about it, I think it was the fact that I was in a dark room *alone* that I was scared because I was in a dark room each time I slept with my mom). We got a night light before it, but because it was behind my dresser, it made things worse, so we got a dream lite instead. A few days later, though, I turned it off in the dark and I realized I liked the dark XD
reminded of the bee pillow pet and now im coveting it again, i wonder if they still sell those… but as a canadian, we didn’t see a lot of this stuff unless it was already successful, or was being broadcast on an american channel we got, which was like… two of them. pillow pets, floam, and that kinetic sand stuff are the most iconic imo.

I think this is partially because my parents didn't really wash my stuffed animals (for some reason i dunno) and so the gross accumulated
