What a joy to work a Broadway Show of Jule's. I had done his TV "Broadway Sings the Music of Jule Styne", but to enjoy his last Broadway show was an honor. There will never be another like him.
That witch Streisand never acknowledged Jule for giving her, "People". He said so in a televised interview that I saw. That big-nosed bitch should move to Canada as she promised she'd do!
Thank you so much for posting. I love this connection of human to human, which is at the heart of music. I just discovered Jule Styne and this is marvelous stuff.
I recorded this on VHS in the early 90's also. You might include the name Michael Feinstein and Liza Minnelli. Jule was writing a musical The Red Shoe.... and Michael sang a song that was to be for that show. It was wonderful but not sure what happened to the musical or the song. Jule died in 1994.
Fabulous video... thank you so much! I have been a long standing fan of both Styne and Feinstein. Why would YTube remove the video if you include Feinstein's name? They can be so unreasonable. The same happened for a couple of years with Chet Baker's videos. We complained bitterly and now they're available all over the place. Oh well. Keep up the good work, regards from Australia. Bob.
Red Shoes unfortunately was not a hit. I am not sure if you can see the score or not. I know there was a movie with the title. I saw it a long time ago. Not sure if it is the same. Jule's music is still the best. He was a beloved guy and a one of those musical geniuses which we have few of today.
To my disgrace i must admit i know only two songs by him "Let it snow" and, imho his best, "Three coins in the fontain". Pity at least the last one is missing here. Moreover his only Oscar-winning song btw! Hmm..
Funny, you're a stranger who's come here, Come from another town. Funny, I'm a stranger myself here. Small world, isn't it? Funny, you're a man who goes traveling Rather than settling down. Funny, 'cause I'd love to go traveling. Small world, isn't it? We have so much in common, It's a phenomenon. We could pool our resources By joining forces from now on. Lucky, you're a man who likes children. That's an important sign. Lucky, I'm a woman with children. Small world, isn't it? Funny, isn't it small and funny and fine? We have so much in common, It's a phenomenon. We could pool our resources By joining forces from now on.
@WallysaurRex: “that guy” is Michael Finestein who has done more to help America remember it’s song heritage and where they come from and who composed them. So don’t be a Tyrantwithsoreass, a Braggingsauras, a Melloraptor or your usual Painintheass, just listen and enjoy.
"Good words make good songs" - brilliant and so simple
What a great clip... too bad there aren't more clips of Jule Styne at the piano... what a legend...

beautiful singing voice- very melting - sob torch crooning style
I only wish I could have met Jule , give him a hug, and say Thank you! God bless you Jule.

I'll always remember Jule Styne, m(_ _)m.
Love Jule Stein's music, of course...but especially as sung by Michael Feinstein
Feinstein is an abject hustler.
First Mrs. Ira Gershwin to Rosemary Clooney who gave up $$
for his nightclub.
A real user.
