Brass and woodwind players have to be able to sustain for a long time to play their instruments which translates well to being able to sing bombastic notes for a very long time. Also it is generally easier to sing a long note loudly than it is to sustain a long note softly. Still this was all very impressive.

It feels weird to have to thank an algorithm for bringing this to me, as others have done, but that's the truth of it. Of course, I should also thank the musicians, for the therapy that has kept me bouncing along the whole week. I can't believe how good this cover is. Every good cover is obliged to pay homage to the original whilst bringing it something new, and this one takes the feeling of emptiness and isolation so heartfelt in the original and blasts it through the clouds to explode off the roof of the sky in a celebration of the joy of the perseverance of the human sprit in spite of suffering or something. I guess I should thank the arranger for those crisp chords bringing Bill Wither's soulful melody into such relief. And of course those chords wouldn't matter as much without the unbelievably tight delivery of the musicians, so I have to thank them again. And I don't know squat about recording, but the sound quality is so good that if it weren't for the cheering crowd I'd have been suspicious. Thank you all! Every marching band in the NCAA should be playing this during the commercial breaks, but I expect only the good ones will, and when they do, they'll play it during the fourth quarter, with five minutes to go, with their team down by three, and if they play it as well as you guys did, their team will have no choice but to come from behind and win.
