Hi all! It's Lauren. Many thanks to the TTMIK team for allowing me to share my experiences and to everyone who watched and shared such encouraging words. Wishing you all the best wherever you are!
편집!!!😂😂😂 Love her energy and how genuine she is throughout the interview. You can tell it’s not easy doing it in a second language, but she’s totally up for the challenge.
Thank you so much! You're absolutely right. Doing an interview in another language is always a bit nerve-wracking, but it’s an amazing opportunity to practice and build confidence in communicating! - Lauren
Wow, she radiates so much of positive energy. I like her having short term and long term goals. She is one ambitious woman. Though I don't have any serious goals like her but watching her makes me wanna work even harder on my studies. Thank you. 🌸
Thanks so much for your kind words! In my opinion, setting goals is such a great way to stay motivated while learning a language. Wishing you the best of luck in your studies! - Lauren
The bingo idea is actually so so so cool ! I'm gonna do that for when i watch Kdrama! I always try to pay attention to certain formulations, but i think that way 'ill be more consistent !
Wow, amazing! According to Lauren's LinkedIn page she also speaks Vietnamese and French. Maybe she has a special proficiency for languages [..she says to make herself feel better about how slowly she is learning by comparison ...😆]
Aw, thank you! I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to study multiple languages, but it's always a challenge that requires a lot of hard work, both inside and outside the classroom, and lots and lots of time! - Lauren
Study goals! I really love the idea of writing/speaking sentences for each new grammar point; I'm totally going to incorporate that into my routine. And the bingo idea was precious! Thank you, Lauren, you're an inspiration. I think that you seem so comfortable speaking, because you use simple sentence patterns and vocabulary that you have practiced a lot. I think that is very effective.
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you found the tips helpful, and you're so right - keeping things simple is my go-to strategy. Best of luck with your studies! - Lauren
This was a sweet interview and the situation where she said cut that part, Idk what I am saying was so endearing. And it helpedbme bc I see how ppl struggle too.
Omg she’s like me! I like KDramas but honestly I mostly study with 예능 (variety shows). Thats where I learn all my Korean slang lmao 😂 I’ve loved all of these interviews so inspiring 🥹
That was absolutely wonderful. I learned some new tips that will help me with the Korean language. I tend to fall asleep with a Korean romance comedy on television and it still surprises me the expression I can remember the next days. I love learning this language though it is quite challenging right now. Great episode. I will return. Oh, Lauren Gibson, I stand in support of your goal to be a US Embassador in Korea. You will be excellent!
I think it depends for each person how you memorize the most effectively: I remember the most by listening, not by writing. Even if writing is important, i remember the most by listening and by practicing speaking with my korean teacher. And for me, writing a lot to memorize thing like vocabulary doesn't work for me but by listening à lot of kdrama, i remember some expression, words etc and some tv show too.
Aww, thank you!! I'm still learning every day and make lots (and lots) of mistakes, but your encouragement means a lot. Good luck with your studies! - Lauren
Thumbnail tells me how. Diplomat means Defense Language Institute. Extremely hardcore most of 2 years program that's unavailable to almost anyone that wants to learn the language. Let's see if I'm right Edit : yep. DLI plus subject matter focus just like the other very hardcore language program that normal ppl can't use - the Mormon language school.
for me i like studying korean grammar haha specially when i found out that i'm intermediate level now with grammar lesson, that's excited me because i can see my progress but yes it become complicited with korean grammar in intermediate level, i know the majority of your grammar bingo but a few i didn't learn yet and some i know but some i know and i forget the meaning haha
It's not hard for Africans who already speak 3 languages by age 7 . Many are learning to speak Chinese but few speak Korean though and, then some Chinese and Korean words are found in some African languages e.g Luo which I speak.
I remember my mistake i remember i wanted to say 똑같다 they are the same but when i speak, my korean teacher understand 독같다 and said to me i said the poison are the same because i mispronounce 똑 with 독 lol i was so embarrased 🤣 and 2nd mistakes: begin to learn a long time ago with romanization and it takes so long to progress and i give up alone when i have to learn korean grammar specially the change of sound of the final consonantw i really didn't understand that and i gave up and i started to learn again 2 years ago with a korean teacher who helped me faster than alone
I’ve made so many mistakes, but now I have lots of stories to tell! Thanks for sharing your mistakes. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. :) - Lauren
You're so kind, but I’m definitely not a genius-I just studied a lot! I’m really grateful for the opportunity to study in Seoul for two years, which made such a difference in my language learning. - Lauren

한국어는 중국어보다 배우기 쉽습니다. 중국어는 글자를 3000 너머 외워야합니다. 너무 힘들어요. 저는 중국 유학 때 길림성 연변대학교에서 중국말과 조선말을 공부했습니다.
