A couple tips for keeping feet dry even with these. If you have OTB pants, use a big rubber band to secure the pant to the boot so you don't get splash up. I also have neoprene gators that I use between the boot top and the knee guard for an added protector from water pouring in from the top. ALWAYS wash your boots man!! ANd then spray with silicone to block out water damage.
... I ordered these (and other items) from you yesterday. ... Thanks for the review!! ... I have been searching boots for weeks for Dual Sport and ADV. The Gaenre Fastback and SIDI Adventure 2 Gore-Tex were on the short list. I ended up deciding on the Alpine Star Tech 7 Enduro Drystar. They are expensive but I typically try and, "buy one, cry once." From what I researched: - It would be the driest of them all. Once I know the fit is correct, I am going to stand in a local stream and test them. - Offered the most protection. - 4 buckles that didn't have issues in the testimonials I watched. - Top is small enough for over the boot pants. - One-year waterproof warranty. - Weight at 3.9lbs. - Looks/styling. I hope they are not too hot for summer but if they are, I'll use moisture wicking socks, etc. Toebox space and overall comfort TBD. Thanks again, . Jeff .
Finally, a drystar version !!! I own the ones in the background ( orange/blue/white ), I hope they release similar colors in the future. One negative about my Tech 7, the pivot points... they squeal like hell. If you walk on the streets with those boots, everybody looks at you :)
Bought these in March and am pushing about 150 hours on these boots. My thoughts on them are nearly all positive. Yes, they are hot in 90-100 degree days. On rainy or muddy days they are really nice and very warm when the temps drop. I will know soon enough but would guess these will be warm down to near freezing temps for fall and winter season here in the Rockies. The toe cap has worn significantly from shifting as well as the sole around the rear brake pedal which is standard for the tech series boots. There will possibly be a hole in the toe cap or the sole by seasons end. Biggest gripe is the toe strap, after about 20 hours they break in real nice and ten toe strap needs to be shortened to be tight enough on my foot. Luckily there was a dude who did a TH-cam video showing how to take it out and trim it just a little, that is a necessary modification to get the perfect fit. Also found these not as true to size as others have stated. I wear a ten pretty much unanimously. Fox, gaerne, forma, usually always wear a ten. Had to go down to a nine on these. Ymmv
We appreciate you chiming in and giving us your experience and tips with these boots. It sounds like they've been treating you pretty well! Thanks for checking out the video and giving us your feedback!
Matthew, being that it is waterproof, it's not going to breath as well. If you're riding, I don't know if you'd notice it too much. I haven't ridden in them so I can't really say how much hotter they would be when you stop. - Chase
Stoked to get these boots, I have a river crossing that goes up a steep bank to access the best trails of my local area. I have to walk my bike through...now my feet will be dry!
Will Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro Drystar Motorcycle Boots work for large calves (18-19") and still close properly all the way down the opening? Are longer straps available? If not, what boots would be recommended considering the above and optimal protection while being waterproof?
I wear 11 in my danner work boots and my feet were swimming in the size 11 tech 7 enduro drystar’s even with the buckles pretty much maxed out. Went with size 10s and I’m a little worried I went with the wrong size. Should have I gone with insoles and thicker socks in the size 11s? Seems like that’s what most people do. I can still return them at my local cycle gear. Usually ride in work boots as I hated my old tech 1s so I’m a little mx boot tarded.
How breathable are they? I've found other drystar products to get swampy compared to Gortex. Currently I run a pair of tech 7's a size big along with the Klim gortex socks over thin mx socks to stay dry in the winter. This seems like a less bulky option.
We had another rider comment and said that his feet don't feel any hotter than his other boots. I haven't ridden in them so It's hard for me to say. - Chase
If foot sweat or hot weather riding is an issue, make sure your boot is slightly big (or wear extremely thin socks) so you have plenty of room for airflow, and leave a couple fingers of space at top of your boot (ie, don't buckle them tight). A big mistake folks make is wearing a snug boot, and their feet overheat. (Having a little room in your boot does not make them less protective or impact your foot control. You'll see.)
Common problem is the enduro sole unexpectedly hook the foot pegs. It can coast you some crash at times... Personally would like to see option on Drystar with mx sole ;) But overall - N1 boot at Price Point, Look, Durability,Safety and COMFORT(as a Sneakers!) - Happy to finally have Waterproof Option!
My only hesitation in buying these, I'm a gaerne/sidi buyer, is that everyone I ride with that has Alpinestars has issues with buckles get snagged and pulled open on a ride. I'm surprised that both Gaerne/Sidi have not made anything more than an ADV boot with Goretex. I'm likely to buy these Alpinestars though I already have 4 pair of newer boots....
The toe Buckle adjuster gap was the issue with the waterproofing, I dont think it needed a full liner. At least thats where my tec 7 leaked in water added some silicone, leak fixed
We have a rider that wears these for our ADV rides here and he loves them. The sole is definitely stiffer than the Sidi but they're awesome if you're doing some more aggressive riding. The rider also does a lot of MX and trail riding too so he likes that this boot can cover both categories. However, If I were getting a boot just for ADV riding, I'd probably go with the Sidi for the walking comfort. - Chase
Idk if I should go with the drystar for 100$ more. I hear mixed reviews about the water proofing. Only reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying yet.
I would say if you're worried about them being waterproof the Drystar version would be worth it. We have quite a few customer reviews on our website too if you want to check those out to get some more feedback. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/riding-gear/alpinestars-tech-7-enduro-drystar%C2%AE-boots-p
I haven't ridden in them, but I would imagine they are warmer than the non-waterproof version. Anything waterproof is not going to breath as well as non waterproof. - Chase
Yes. It is very comfortable and would work okay for touring. It just won't be the best boot for walking off the bike. But for protection and ankle support, they'd be great.
I wear orthotic inserts in my regular shoes. Do these have any kind of a removable pad in the boot that could be removed and an orthothic put in? Also, do you order these the same size as your regular shoe size? Back in the 70's when I was racing, I wore a thick pair of socks. Is that necessary? Or do standard socks work? Thanks
I haven't ridden in the Toucan so I'm not sure. However, we have a couple riders here who wear the tech 7 on our adventure rides and they do great. It's a moto boot so breathability isn't the best, but any waterproof boot doesn't breath too well either. - Chase
I disagree with your comment about the calf opening, I have pretty large calves i had to return fox boots in the past for that very reason but this boot fits well with my knee brace on. I love them so far, I had been looking for a Motocross style waterproof boot for a very long time Boot size 13
I have a pair of these boots. No break in period and super comfortable. I have soaked the boots and my feet were bone dry. As far as boots being hot no problems at all.
Chase- I've worn Alpinestar waterproof boots to Artic. The smell after a couple days will kill most anything, plus feet look like they've been wrapped up in baggies. I was hoping the Tech 7 Drystar aren't so nasty but provide some water resistance and . Seems petty, but I ride loads of miles on trips anywhere from 800 to 5500 miles on some journeys. Boots that smell so bad make for grumpy room mates :-0
That sounds like no fun. Yeah, I don't know if the Tech 7s will be any better with the drystar liner than what you've already experienced. I haven't ridden in them so I'm not sure. You could ask that question on the product page and see if someone who has used them has any good feedback for you. - Chase

I've got the fox enduro boot. Coming from a alpinestar tech 8, the fox boot is such a pile of shit. 10 months and they are falling apart. My 3rd pair of boots are real old tech 8 from 1999, still awesome, pretty sad when 21 year old alpinestar tech 8s are in better shape then 2019 fox enduro boots with less then 50 hours on them.
Always been an Alpine Star fan, but my Tech 7s have been very disappointing, the sole has softened underneath and the buckles bend off line. Definitely will not buy them again.
Everything I hear about Astars customer service sucks, including their lack of response to my warranty inquiry. At these prices, ghosting customers with QC issues is unacceptable.
I have some AStars Drystar ADV boots (Corozal), and am not impressed by either the waterproofing or the breathability. Mine seem to leak at the tow box on one of the boots, and the boots really hold in sweat. The result is very smelly boots that need special care to dry out. I would not buy this version of the Tech 7's.

Put a little talcum powder into the hinge, I used to just drop it in on the tip of a spoon and they wouldn't squeak for a couple days worth of riding
Try put vaseline gel.

whats been your favourite boot? anything waterproof that you like?
Can't seem to find any of these boots in stock anywhere! 🤔
Does the Drystar material make the boot hotter? I want the waterproof protection, but not all of my trails involve water crossings.
Need to know if they are hot! Do they breath in the heat of the day when your not worried about getting wet?
Matthew, being that it is waterproof, it's not going to breath as well. If you're riding, I don't know if you'd notice it too much. I haven't ridden in them so I can't really say how much hotter they would be when you stop. - Chase
My tech 7s were really comfortable but I went rona pair of tech 10s because the 7s have a tab that kept getting snagged on plastics unfortunately.
Tech 7 Enduro model is my favorite boot in existence! Just buy it!
I have the tech 3 enduro and they are fantastic
Does the inside of the tech 7 feel like the tech 3 ?
Stoked to get these boots, I have a river crossing that goes up a steep bank to access the best trails of my local area. I have to walk my bike through...now my feet will be dry!
I've been wearing these this year. I really like them...as long as I don't go over the top, they keep my feet dry which is pretty sweet!
Just run duck tap around the top so water can't run down your pants into the boot.
noControl wtf is duck tape? 😂

Looking for an all around boot that’s comfy enough to camp walk and protection enough like my tech 3’s. Any advice ?
Would these boots be good for mud ?
Can we used this for touring??

I don't have any issues with the sole
Comfort for walking small hikes ?
Not bad for a mx boot once broken in, feels awkward when new, heel sits high

Italians have enduro boots figured out man 💯
How about the Gearne Dakar
Wish they make a Gore-tex version

I don't find them much warmer at all than my old leaky Fox Comp 5's.

Hi rocky mountain is tech 7 enduro drystar good for touring plz give reply and is it comfortable
Thanks
These fit true to size so a standard sock will work. And yes, most boots allow you to remove the insole and put in a custom one.
Are these boots breathable like the Alpine Star Toucan. Like these have more protection than the Toucan.
I haven't ridden in the Toucan so I'm not sure. However, we have a couple riders here who wear the tech 7 on our adventure rides and they do great. It's a moto boot so breathability isn't the best, but any waterproof boot doesn't breath too well either. - Chase
Es la suela de la versión ENDURO más gruesa/alta que la versión normal de Cross??? Gracias
The tread (pisar) is deeper. The sole looks the same to me.
Is the water proof bootie removable?
No, this boot does not have an inner bootie. The waterproof membrane is part of the liner and cannot be removed.
I disagree with your comment about the calf opening, I have pretty large calves i had to return fox boots in the past for that very reason but this boot fits well with my knee brace on. I love them so far, I had been looking for a Motocross style waterproof boot for a very long time
Boot size 13
Chase just like to flex on the size of his calves
I think you might be on to something 😏 - Wes
I have a pair of these boots. No break in period and super comfortable. I have soaked the boots and my feet were bone dry. As far as boots being hot no problems at all.
Thanks for the feedback, Jay! We've had a couple people ask if they are really hot and you answered that. - Chase
Are they true to size? I'm size 10, would i need and 11?
Yes they are. I'd for sure go with a 10. - Chase
How tall are these boots?
Thanks for the video guys! Was wondering if you had any cheaper picks?
We have a top 5 mid-level boots video you can check out. th-cam.com/video/_I3ZaMp5taM/w-d-xo.html
These look amazing
are the drystars heavier than enduro tech 7's?
It's so minimal that you wouldn't notice a difference - Chase

always love Alpinestar boots
I thought Sidi crossfire were waterproof years ago
Does the drystar model have less breath ability due to being fully waterproof?
Not that motocross boots are that breathable to begin with, but yes, the drystar isn't going to breath as well. - Chase
Unfortunately even on cold days feet sweat in this so they're not breathable much.
Mw renmen sa wi
Get the Tech 10.
The 7 is just not to be compared....

Wrong...Snug boots are a must,so use thin cotton socks

They suck in wet condition! Even riding through small puddles made them leak. Waste of money. NO WATERPROOF!
