Thank you for this! I followed and now have my gifs searchable on Insta stories. But when I added more to Giphy they didn’t update on Instagram. How do you add more? Do you have to get approved again?
Hi Holly, I’ve noticed that it often takes a few days for the gifs to move over to Instagram. They should show up in a couple of days though! You don’t have to get re-approved. That only happens once. Liz

Does your instagram profile have to look like you are an illustrator only ? I’m a commercial photographer and fine artist but wanted to add some of my own illustrations and gifs to my stories etc. Should I start putting some of my motion graphics on posts ?

yes you do have to apply with Giphy, if you want it to show up on the Instagram sticker search page!

But I noticed that some of my stickers uploaded at my Giphy account haven’t appeared on Instagram Gif list once I type my brand’s name. It only shows a few of them... Hi Liz, I am a social media manager that's managing a few brand accounts and some of my clients have expressed the desire to have campaign gifs on Instagram. I am trying to create an Artist (for myself) and Brand account (for my company) as a test so that I can advise my clients better however, you mentioned about making sure IG profiles look professional. If I create a new IG acc and upload as many original artwork as possible but don't really have followings and engagement would that pass the approval?
Sorry, but I don’t know what their policy is on approving accounts since they don’t make that info public. I think all you can do is apply and see what happens!

When I export from Procreate with the same "animated gif" settings, it gets saved as a gif image so when uploaded to Giphy- it's a still image instead of the moving animation as it is drawn/ in the export area. Anyone have the same problem or any solutions?!?!

@@LizKohlerBrown Thank you for such a thoughtful response but I did figure out the culprit! The design was made to be like a neon sign which meant a more transparent edge which some part of giphy did not like! uploaded the other designs and it was totally fine :)

Hi, do you save your gif with a white background or a transparent background? Or if we have a white background, does giphy removes it automatically?
Giphy recommends a transparent background and they do not remove it automatically!

How did you make them searchable spear on ig etc
There’s a field where you add tags that describe the GIF you’re uploading. Those tags are what people search to find GIFS.
What do you put for the source url if you don't have your own website?
You could probably insert your Instagram or Facebook web address if you have one!
What did you use to export the image (eg. PNG)
Using Procreate you can export and animated GIF and save it to your iPad. Then you can import it into Giphy.

The file size limit is 100mb and I would make sure your gif is right at that limit. Hope that helps!

Yes exactly! Anytime you add a new GIF to the GIPHY site it will take a day or so for it to be available on Instagram.

So we submitted for our Giphy account for our church. We were denied an account. So can we not upload our stickers to Instagram?
Yes unfortunately organizations are typically not eligible for this, only artists/designers as far as I know. You can still create a gif and put it in your story, but you cannot upload stickers using that account.

I have a very strange problem - I have uploaded 5 gifs to my account, you can see them, but when I click on the "info" button, it shows that there is only one gif on the account. what is the problem?

Double check that you exported your PNG without a background, and if you're still having trouble, email GIPHY for support!

I think it means they won’t approve you so you won’t be able to upload to IG.

Hi Kymmie, Giphy doesn't publish their expectations, so it's really a guessing game. I would say lots of cohesive artwork, a good number of followers (500-1000 ish?). I think the artwork is most important though since what they really want to know is whether or not you'll put bad art on their platform!
