Disaster strikes again with my poor plastering skills leads to paint pulling the plaster off the walls and then filling with a new product leads to further frustration - Will I ever get these walls smooth and painted ?

It is always good to give DIY a go, Stew. I used to labour for plasterers and brickies. This is what I would have done: (1). PVA the block/bricks and then apply a bonding coat. When it is drying, scratch it for 'a key.' (2). Then PVA the bonding. Then skim plaster for an even, smooth, egg-shell glean finish. Job's a good one. Bonding is good for bringing depth and creating a sturdy skim plaster surface. Thanks for the upload. I love DIY myself. Skill Builder is one of my favourite channels on here.
Thanks for sharing that tip - I have to say plastering is at the higher end of diy and as I don’t do it often it was a little scary …. But I know more now than I did before
Skill builder and charliediyte are my fav go to channels
The self-deprecating commentary 😂
It was a low moment 😂- but fortunately I started to win the battle
Thanks for watching
You've had abit of a nightmare with that Stew, but you got there, saved money and learned along the way, that's win, win, win in my book👍
Your not wrong and all goes back to the plaster - it took me weeks - so close to giving up and getting someone in lol 😂
Thanks for watching
As long as you PVA all the areas including the perimeter blending section then you would have been ok. Stew we learn from our mistakes, kudos points for trying.
Yes I don’t think I extended far enough and did the pva well enough for sure but a lot better informed
@@ALifeOfStew You need to be mindful also that any surface you are plastering should be sound, any defective paint or blown plaster needs to be remedied. This is normally highlighted, blown plaster by hollow sound when tapping, defective paint normally shows itself by adding moisture ( by using pva around repair or when you emulsion over the area blisters will appear) Always use easy fill it is a brilliant product (you can fill to any depth and it rubs down a dream and mixes easily) ready mixed struggles to cure on deeper fills. One final coat of emulsion all over the breast wall will make the repaired surface look a lot more uniform. Good luck.
@leakybean501 love easifill lol and that poly stuff was terrible
Aaagghhh nooo Stew - how disappointing- you must have been gutted ! Is Jane still away - I'm sure she would have wanted to get a "professional" in 🤣 All I can say is kudu's to you for attempting such a bugger of a job 👏🏻 and staying so positive. Hoping the painting will go smoothly 🦋
lol Jane couldn’t stay away long enough as took me weeks but we got there as you will soon see
I think you should have hired a plasterer 😂
I think your right - we got there eventually as you will soon see but it fought me all the way and nearly broke me
Thanks for watching the reality of diy 😂😂😂
With all these tools and filler you bought stew been cheaper to pay a professional! At least you having ago 👍
Your not bloody wrong 😂 😂😂😂😂
