    Great video! I'm also planning on using K Car.
    Quick question: What car insurance did you settle on and did you handle that paperwork before or after purchasing your car? I know Korea has a general grace period after registering a vehicle, but KCar suggests you need insurance before completing the purchase. Hope that makes sense and feel free to message me-- thanks :)

      @@denzelnalenz6252 Great question. Basically, I contacted a car insurance agent before I went to the shop...but just to make contact. Then, after I decided to buy the car I had to get the insurance paperwork done before driving it off the lot. It was pretty painless. I contacted my agent via facebook, sent him the VIN number and other car info. He gave me a quite for like 7 agencies...I choose a cheaper one that also had an English contact number. He sent me bank info, I transferred the money (all instant in Korea) and the insurance takes effect legally as soon as I transfer the money. After I transferred the money he sent me a bunch of papers to sign, but I had like 7 days to sign the papers...as long as I had already transferred the money. The whole insurance process took like 20 minutes... pain free.

    How much are taxes or other attached fees for buying a car? I also heard that buying a non domestic car like BMW, Mercedes, etc. Are much more expensive than for say the US market, due to taxes and fees attached to the car compared to a domestic Hyundai or Kia.

      Not quite sure about luxury cars, this small car had almost no taxes due to it being an economy car. On the kcar website, you can see all the overall total with fees and taxes... It didn't seem to be all that much..

    Is it possible to buy the car online and get it shipped without going to Korea? Because it seems like the website is only national.

      I don't think it's easy for used car. I think if my visa was correct, I could have probably purchased a new car with a loan that would be finished before the end of my visa...but I think it's a lot of work...

    What about taxes and registration?

    • @bigeminicbemcbigeminic9196
      @bigeminicbemcbigeminic9196 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dealership handled all that for me. There was purchase tax. Also, I got a tax bill to my registered address every 3 months. 경차 (Economy car) like this one was practically tax free on both accounts. I think I paid a couple hundred USD for the dealer tax, then it was maybe 20USD every 3 months for taxes. Registration seemed low cost as well. Larger cars have significantly more tax.

      @@bigeminicbemcbigeminic9196 Awesome, I didn't know that taxes were paid quarterly! Did you have to renew the registration at any point?

      @@JasonK026 rock on! Glad I could help! I just paid them when they came. That was Jeju, so it's possible to be a little different in other jurisdictions. I think registration works a lot different there. The tag is tied to the car, so I think (I won't swear on it though) you just pay a one time fee to transfer the registration to your name, then you pay taxes on it until it is transfered to another owner.

      First year is was pretty expensive. About 900,000KRW for full coverage. The next year it dropped to about 500,000KRW. First year is always the most expensive because they don't count overseas driving history.
