if you keep holding square while initiating the swing again, he has a different animation for each move. with the phone one he keeps playing his mobile game during the swing.

@@Julie-ds5bo figured it out! You gotta actually press down the left stick. Like to start an actual dive not a free fall. While pushing it down to dive move it up, down or sideways. After you do this the move should stay until you let go of square, start swinging, or landed.

You don’t need to press X at the edge. It’s way easier if you Hold L3 and R2 (before you go the edge) than bam you’re already in position for the trick, all you need to do. Is you have to let go of R2 once you’re in the air (otherwise of you don’t than you will start swinging) and hold down square to do the tricks. You still need to hold L3 while in the air though, but after you start doing the tricks (square) then you dont need to hold L3 anymore. I learnt this myself, no need to press X when you’re on the edge.

There is an easier way. Hold forward L3 and hold R2, than run off the ledge. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PRESS X
