Thank you. We were given a used Bunn coffee maker with no instructions and I've never had this type of coffee pot before. This was the easiest to follow, yet most useful, video I've seen for using this style coffee pot.

The pot is used once a week, turned off and it’s alright to leave a pot of water in it? How does this affect the start up process next time if the holding tank is suppose to be empty? Add 2 pots more of water, plug in, turn on etc.?

Great video because I got confused about why you would fill the tank completely then leave it for like 15 or 30 minutes. Then put in filter and coffee grounds then this last part really confused me pour more water in but after this video I see why. It pushes the hot water out and replenishes the hot water for future uses. This now makes sense and I thought that might be the case before watching your video illustration so I just had to be sure and you confirmed what I thought. Thank you.

I have a question! How do you empty out the water at the end of the day??

You don’t. It keeps the water hot and ready to go at all times. The instant you close the lid after adding cold water it starts pouring.
The energy usage isn’t much of an issue.

This coffee maker is the last thing I want to try to figure out when I need a cup of coffee.

What about for commercial purposes, I need a direct water line for the brewer.

We have 2 bunn pour overs at our church. We recently had them descaled b/c they were working slow and totally caked up with mineral deposits. When we used again they leaked a bit so seals were tightened-no more leaks. The problem we are having is when we put in a full carafe of water only a 1/2 comes out the first time as if someone was only brewing a half pot. After that it's okay. Any suggestions on how to adjust? The first pot is (1/2) is weak when you'd think it would be really strong. Confusing!

Hello Laurie, in case you haven't solved the issue, I would suggest topping up the brewer tank while it warms up. Place a carafe to catch the overflow, and top the tank up until it just starts to come through the brew head.
It sounds like your tank is around 1/2 carafe empty by the time a week has passed, so it preheats the water, but when you add more cold water, it cools down the tank more than normal (since it's not full) resulting in weak coffee. And since the tank was ~1/2 carafe empty from full, you lose that much water to the tank.
Then your tank is full and primed for the second batch to go perfectly. So just top up the tank 👍

How to know why it's leaking from the top sides when boiling process starts???? Hot water leaks from the sides, why?

      Because you overloaded the tank

I bought a used one and found the tank lid to be bowed upwards and blown out around some of the stud locations. Had to order a new lid (and thermostats for good measure 😳).

Not one video tells you how much coffee to use. They all focus on the water.

It depents on how strong of a pot you want. Generally 2 tablespoons per cup

I know I'm super late to the party here, but 3.15-3.25 oz of grounds to 64 oz of water is best. Makes it out around 6 1/2 tbsp I believe but you can use google to check my math. I worked in a coffee shop that was suuuper specific with quantities and weights pertaining to brewing.

@@kathycourtney7958 no problem! I was a manager at a coffee shop for years and it's been ingrained into my head. If you double the quantity of grounds and brew, add another 64 oz of ice, you'll have store quality iced coffee lol
