The two *_Eddie and The Cruisers_* films are timeless.. because that is what real talent and such really is about: being great above and beyond. Eddie Wilson is an archetype/paragon that few singer/songwriters live up to. Every generation has a few.. and far too many pretenders.
Best Rock-N-Roll movies ever! 😊 Times were strange back then. You were pretty much the person you were by the music you listened to. These days music to me to most people is just background noise. Yet there are a few groups, individuals, and solo artists around now, and coming up artists that can still touch your soul. To me, that's music and you will always carry with you. ✌️❤️🌼
Both movies were very underrated until it hit the small screens. Then when it came out to buy it did awesome in sales along with the soundtrack. They were thinking of doing a third movie but weren't quite sure how to do it. To me the two was just right.
There kind of wasn't a full need for a part 3 but imo 2 needed a better ending still. There was a lot there left to examine once he revealed his name fully. The movie just ignores all the implications and focuses on the concert which imo was a mistake.
@@efan2012 o you would rather have the film going in to the legal ramifications of someone declared dead by law over a decade prior, trying to get his life back in the legal sense, sueing satin records for cashing in on his name for said time. And trying to explain to the world how Eddie Wilson lives. Sounds more depressing and disjointing to the story than, playing an epic show and fading to black after saying "I am Eddie Wilson"
One thing is for sure Michael Pare did a great job as an actor lip syncing in singing as Eddie Wilson. I am still more impressed by that over two movies than I was with Rami Malik in one.
Rami Malik didn't do as convincing a job IMHO; I've reached that conclusion while comparing many times through the Live Aid concert with Malik's performance.
I thought the same for years. If you didn't know better, you would think it was his own voice singing. The lip syncing was good, but they matched them so good as they both have the same voice tones. Wow.
I can't say my feelings about these movies I grew up in that business and these movies depict the struggle of getting to the top and if you feel that you have what it takes to get there
The only thing wrong with Eddie 2 was they couldn’t get Tom Berringer to come back to play Frank The Wordman. The way they dubbed him out in the flashback scenes was sloppy. But it was good to see what happened after the end of the first movie and hear some more John Cafferty
I agree with the sloppy edit. But I think it's better to have it be Sal. Frank and Joanne found their happiness together but Sal was the one who still needed closure.
Agreed 100%. Trying to shoehorn Sal into the character The Wordman was obviously supposed to take, just didn’t work for me. Anyone that knew the original Eddie and the Cruisers shook their head when they saw the relationship between Eddie and Sal in the 2nd. Originally Sal was the Rick Diesel member of the band. Someone seeking the fame and wanting the music to be radio friendly to get the fame. An opposite to Eddie whose audience was only himself.
I just learned did Michael Pare wesnip sinking Oh I thought it was fantastic. An art in itself however my thoughts Segway into the thought of it Elvis Presley's voice. Unbelievable whole package in there! But I absolutely love Eddie and the Cruisers and they're sound very electrifying and exciting production
Sosa Goldie Tell that to Frankie Valli and the 4 seasons. Some of the best music came out of Jersey and I grew up in Detroit listening to Motown. Jersey and Detroit both had some distinctive sounds.
If you look at Sal's lips at the 5:27 mark, he says "the greatest", but they looped Matt's line in ADR to say "good enough". Personally, I think the original line makes more sense, especially in relation to the Satin Records guy at the start, saying "Eddie Wilson is the greatest".
It's true if you can't be great at what you do and there's no excuse than ever doing it again always give them credit for those who get up and get in front of an audience because they have the will to do it
Thinking that the movie would have had more impact if, instead of reuniting with Sal, Eddie would have sought out the Tom Berringer character and asked for his forgiveness instead.
Definitely, but I guess he didn't want to do it at the time, since he was still getting roles in pretty big films. Given some of the stinkers he did later in his career, he should have done this.
It wasn't easy for Eddie Wilson to come face to face with his friend Sal after letting him and the rest of the cruisers believe he was killed when his car was found in the water and he wasn't found over 20 years earlier.
