I absolutely loved this song and it fit so well with not just the scene, but it does foreshadow a bit towards the plot regarding Jinshi's character later in the series.
The scene was so well written… Jinshi’s VO really did great. You can feel his astonishment, then his anger, then his fear of losing the most precious thing, that one thing he was gently carrying away… it does not happen often but I can’t get over this scene which goes from a girl saving a boy to a boy taking care of that girl. This was wonderful. There's a hint of sacred in this melody and voice, as such is the authority of an emperor. It should be clear at this point that Jinshin is someone with royal lineage, and his emotion are interpreted as the will of the sky; this song reflects that emotion very well.
Omg thank you thank you thanks you. I been looking all over for a sub of this song. God the lyric is so fitting and perfectly jives with the situation, especially the ‘foolishness became a flame that burns’. My interpretation is that while most of this is applies to Jinshi, it also applies to Lakan whose meddling with Maomao’s life, even if done without malice, eventually ended up hurting a girl who wanted nothing more than pursuing her passion in medicine and poisons. Same thing for Jinshi, who despite genuinely caring for Maomao, tends to drag her into situations which ended up potentially dangerous, starting with identifying her and then getting her promoted as lady in waiting. In season 1, Maomao was poisoned, mistreated and nearly outright murdered (Fengming) in the course of her adventures which in many cases was dragged in by Jinshi. Only thing she can’t blame Jinshi for is trying to warn about the poison powder in 1st episode and this case where she was so desperate she got herself whacked by the guard And right now, the end result of all this is a nasty gash on the leg and potentially a big concussion, although to me looks more like a big bruise. Don’t get me wrong, i still ship them, but this reminded me that I hate characters who just like to mess with other characters lives for amusement or their own gains or views. Similar to Dumbledorw trying to mold Harry into fulfilling his family but nearly ended up giving Harry a screwed up childhood and adulthood as he was thrown into the wizarding world. Just my opinion. Don’t hate me.
