She is from Missouri. Sadly California is her most completely biographic song. It wasn’t just that she missed home, it was that she felt like a failure and that she let her parents down because her music career wasn’t going as well as she had hoped.
Love, love, LOVE Chappell Roan! I would love to see you enjoy her album 'The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess', from start to finish the beat album I've heard in very long time. Can't think of another without having to skip songs. I say this as a 62 year old fan of music and the arts. CHAPPELL ROAN MAKES ME FEEL HAPPY!🎉❤🎶
A suggestion: it's ok to just pause the video and speak on what ur noticing. That way you can react in the moment instead of being distracted by having to take notes and then give a report later after the moment has passed
Love your reaction! I discovered her last spring when Spotify randomly played Good Luck Babe. At the time I thought she was a new artist and took note to watch for an album release haha. Discovered this tiny desk concert shortly after and was immediately hooked. Fell in love with her album immediately. Was very lucky to get tickets to see her in October, it was amazing of course. I can't wait for more, and would love for this to be your first album reaction
Spot on with Chappell being authentic, I think she may have been too authentic which have made some of her fans go a bit overboard. Chappell has had a bit of difficulty with the quick rise to fame and has what some consider to be stumbles but it is also part of her authenticates - unfortunately the paparazzi has taken advantage of this and have intentionally pushed her buttons to get a reaction out of her. I agree with other commenters that you would enjoy a full album review of Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess - it is such an easy listen and it feels like it is over too quickly. Love your vibe, instantly subscribed - I hope you get over 1,000 quickly.
You heard five songs off Midwest Princess and it looked like you loved all of them. Nine more original songs await you, and every one of them is great, too. There just aren't other albums out there like it, period. Whether in a reaction video or not, be sure to treat yourself to listening to the whole thing.
Great reaction and discussion! And to answer your question: she had smeared lipstick on her teeth - in keeping with the whole "bedraggled punk rock prom queen" aesthetic. :)
As someone that watches a lot of reaction videos I agree with Jason that it would be better to pause the video and talk about what you’re seeing in the moment. I’ve watched this performance literally a hundred times, if I’m watching this for your reaction I don’t need to watch the entire performance again without you saying anything. Once I realized that’s what you were doing I just fast forwarded to the end to hear your commentary. Now that you’ve seen this performance I recommend looking up other reactions to it and watching the ones with the most views. That will give you a good idea of what people doing to have the most successful reaction channels. Your commentary and insights were all great, it’s just that no one will want to watch you silently watch something for 20 minutes to then hear your thoughts on it. If that’s the case you might as well just post reviews of things. Just my thoughts, hope your channel is a success! Did you get any feedback from your daughter after you watched this? It’s cool that she recommended it to you, some kids would probably be nervous about their parents hearing some of those lyrics!
Thank you. I will consider this more closely. I’ve had people tell e that pausing is distracting and they don’t need me to interrupt. I’m trying to find the balance.
@@angelsayslife great! It’s interesting to me that people would tell you that. I watch A LOT of reaction channels and you’re the first one I’ve watched where the reactor doesn’t say anything during the performance. I know movie reactors who do “watch along” reactions can’t pause the movie because viewers are watching along on their own copies and if they pause it won’t be synched but all music reactors I’ve seen pause the videos to talk. I’d watch some of the popular reactors and see how they do it.
Watching multiple songs -- a whole set or album -- before commenting on any of them is a lot of waiting for viewers who know the music already. But doing comments song by song works. Some reactors play one song uninterrupted, pause, and react to it, or even replay it reacting over it or pausing to comment. Then proceed to the next song. If you choose to pause and react real-time on the first listen -- which I don't think you will, doesn't fit your style -- when resuming it's helpful back up 5 or more seconds first. Also, whatever process you settle on, just know that there will always be viewers who prefer it done a different way. It's just part of having a reactions channel.
@@bartlebyscrivener2980 Yes, I agree with you 100%. I am hearing everyone. I tried something different on my Doechii tiny desk reaction and that seemed to sit well with people. We'll see!
I watched this when it came out as my first exposure to Chappell. No idea how many times I've seen it after. Iconic performance, and Still my favorite version of Red Wine Supernova. If you do a whole album reaction, it has to be her Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess.
Great reaction thanks for sharing! Would love to see ya react to Chappell's debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess if you are looking for album reaction recommendations! :)

awesome!
And for sure thought of oasis! I'm 43 and feel so much nostalgia in this album, but in a new and unique way. That's why I love Chappell
Awesome! I was thinking I couldn't be the only one!

Everyone is saying this! I'm holding out to see if I will react to the album when I reach 1000 subs. Thanks for being here.
