When I used peel off gel I found I needed to have a slick/top coat to apply it to. When you applied your's you roughed up the nail so it would adhere better. I think that's why you struggled to get them off... I don't blame you for not trying again, though!
The way I’ve seen the Korean girls use peel off base coats: apply a strip of “stripper” air dry peel off base coat down the centre of you nail and let it air dry. Apply a gel peel off base coat over the whole nail including the air dried base gel and cure. I’ve found that peel off base coats stick really hard on the centre of my nail so the addition of the air drying peel off under the gel peel off base coat makes it release better. Also, the directions I came across for the Yogo peel off base is to soak your nails in warm water or oil (didn’t say warm oil but I’d try cold and warm oil to see which works best) for 10 minutes before trying to remove. Having done my own nails for a few years now, I’ve concluded that it’s best for me to apply soak off base in two layers to be more of a buffer when I file. Color gels and design on the base coats then I wrap/overlay the nail in a builder to give strength and top coat to seal. When I file my nails to remove old gel, I’ll file all the way until I hit the color layer and then gingerly file at the color layer to thin it a little and then I STOP filing. If I’m pushed for time I’ll use a really soft hand file/buffer to get the color off completely then clean up the dust and apply new base coat to fill and flowed by the new set on top. If I have plenty of time I’ll soak off the remaining color and base coat and start fresh. The way I see it, gel nails are fast to put on but the caveat for me at least is they’re slow to remove which is the reverse of normal polish which is slower to put on because air drying takes a long while but they’re extremely fast to remove with acetone. The lovely thing about gel nails is they add so much strength so my natural nails grow so long under gel enhancements.
I’ve never understood the whole peel off situation, to be honest. After 35 years of doing my own nails it feels like an oxymoron to expect solid lasting stuck down nails but for them to pop off in 10 minutes. The two are opposite of each other and therefore I file off all my nails and find it quite pleasant and pampering. I’m glad you’ve decided to go back to your original method and if I’d waited just another 3 mins I would have seen you ditch the peel offs ha ha ha. Love ya girl 🇦🇺❤️
I just found your channel about two weeks ago, I have been binge watching your content because I started doing my nails. I am happy to have found a person like you, good vibes and great content. I also like your honest opinion on products you use not many creators do that.
When I use Jello Jello I use 99% Isopropyl alcohol to pop off my nails, I hated their remover. apply base coat then apply Jello jello wipe off sticky layer then do nails. I learned this from Nailed by Cassie.
The Ohora remover is a god send! I use it allll the time to remove my gel stickers (cuz I am lazy). I usually make 2-3 passes with it. I soak one hand then the next, then gently lift a little on the first, add some more, move to the next hand, repeat slowly several times until I have worked them off without damaging my nails 💅
I ❤ your channel. I have been doing my own nails for a year now and have learned so much. I believe those peel off bases work best on natural nails and light nail enhancements like soft gels. I made my own peel off using an oil of my choice, a bit of pure acetone, and an essential oil. Shake it up in a dropper bottle and I'm good to go!
For a while i was doing har gel and then peel off. I believed what worked for me was 2 layers of the peel off... ultimately, i went back to soacking them off because i feel it is less time-consuming. I change my nails once a week, not for content but just because i get bored of all my sets. You are a real one for testing this out. Hope you find the magic formula
THAT is true. Might help make more space to easily fit in more remover. Great idea. I mean last time I went to a salon the ripped my nails off entirely sliding a nail tip under .. but just to make a separation should work!!
this is so interesting because my peel off base from makkart pops off literally the day i apply it, i do nail prep too to help it stick better, so it not coming off easily for you is so interesting!
hi anne!! for me, i use builder gel as a way to protect my natural nails and i also like to change my nails somewhat often, and i figured out how to use a peel off base coat on top of builder gel/hard gel. 1) you want to make sure the builder gel/hard gel is smooth from application. if you buff it out to make it smooth, this leads to the peel off base coat sticking to the builder/hard gel bc the buffed surface allows the peel off base gel to stick vs a smooth surface. 2)make sure to really wipe off the sticky layer using a combo of isopropyl alcohol with a couple drops of acetone mixed (diy YN swipe). this also helps the peel off base gel not stick to the builder/hard gel. 3) i use gaoy peel off base gel, but i think any brand would work! i apply TWO coats of the peel off base gel, curing fully in between. this is what worked for me and i hope this helps!!
Enail couture has a peel off base also!! Ps I adore you Anne your videos are my go to when the day is ending when the day has been rough on me when I need to smile when I’m bored, you are my go to girlfriend. Please never change. God bless you.
I’m glad u found success with at least one of the products I recommended I should’ve said I hadn’t used it with a hard gel but this was def good to know if I ever experience any nail damage! Thanks for the vid!!!
Ive been using the makartt peel off 2 thin layers on natural nails with prep only around perimeter, using rubber base gel (hard gel and builder work here too) for a bit of extra strength on full cover tips as well as an apex then 2 coats of unt peel off! lets me change my full design anywhere from a few days to a week by peeling the unt and keeping the base nails for 2 to 3 more sets depending on lifting! Then any cuticle oil applied just like you did in this to remove with a wooden pusher! I recommend clear for your extra structure because I like to remove and replace any with lifting after taking off taking off the polish I go pretty long so sometime I hit one too hard and that makes it easier to see which may have hidden damage since peel off can lift easier in my opinion when hitting on things! Keep us updated on your peel off and hard gel journey I wondered if it was possible but couldnt find anyone who knew! Thank you for your sacrifice to science!!!
I use the beetles peel off base gel with the Ohara remover and it works good for me. I'm glad you found that remover because it changed my life personally lol.
Peel off bases are meant to be used on the natural nail and you use a protective layer on your nail which is why you have trouble so I’m glad you are going to just stick to soaking/filing them off.
At least you found a really good remover because it actually lifted some of the hard gel layer. I have never seen anything take off hard gel except filing it off. So, this speaks to how well this remover actually works.
I love the O’Hara, I have used it and I don’t have the peel off stuff. I do agree though, your method of using the builder/hard gel is pretty good haha I have been doing that for a few months and it’s helped for sure. I’m excited to see your next two hand set(s) and hope you have an amazing day/week! You’re awesome 😁😎
I was LITERALLY peeling off my nail tests when i saw the suggested video lol I found that a thin layer of clear school glue works wonderfully and did absolutely no damage to my hard gel layer, now i need to test how long they last without lifting by itself
For those who love the glamnetics press on remover, the ohora one has identical ingredients for the most part and is significantly cheaper. (also ethanol and peptides). That said: I put a top coat on top of my protective gel, then go in with, in my case, press ons with luxxi glue (which is insane glue) because I suck at painting on my hands and am careful because of allergies. I know I wasn’t good about my gel cautions when I started out so I’m all careful now trying to limit further exposure. But then I can remove with glamnetics press on remover. I’ll be switching to ohara though since it’s cheaper and the ingredients are so similar.
Thank you for this video and your hair colour suits you so much 🤩. I use the JelloJello peel-off on my natural nails, but I can never get it to pop off easily either. I use a rubber base before applying the peel-off, because I don’t trust it won’t damage my nails and for extra strength😅. I don’t wear tips, so I used to think it was because it wasn’t made for long natural nails. I guess it’s good to know it may be my rubber base interfering but it would be nice to have a peel-off that works with a hard gel/rubber base layer 💗💗
I've tried the peel off base gel from born pretty for the first time... according to the website it can be removed with warm water! mmmhhh, nope... with cuticle oil it was pretty easy, but it was on my natural nail and not on hard gel! anyway, it didn't do my nails much good with just water (my nail bed on my ring finger suffered a lot and hurt)... but I only do them once a month and not every week, so it was okay to try it ☝
have you tried the peel off base nail polishes that are not gel, like the ones that air dry? maybe that will? or not buffing your hard gel or base coat at all before applying the new nails so that way they're not on there as strong
If you decide to try the Jello Jello again, if you haven't already, try putting it around the edges before lifting them with an orange stick! I think dissolving it around the edges before lifting prevents me from pulling up the hard gel and reduces the amount of One Kill I use. Thanks for the review! I'm sorry that a couple of your nailbeds were claimed as victims :(
I wonder if you use acrylic as your protective layer instead of hard gel, if the peel off base coat would remove easier off the acrylic since it’s not gel? Maybe you could even test a thin layer of acrylic on top of your hard gel on one finger since you won’t be removing the hard gel. I just wonder how a peel off base coat would work on top of acrylic. 🧐🔬
i wonder if this would work with jello jello for costs sake?! i also like to change my sets frequently, about once a week. i've found putting jello jello underneath my hard gel layer works really well! i apply 1 drop of the one kill gel remover, just enough to left a corner. sometimes i get lucky & the nail will come off with the 1 drop. once the corner lifts, i soak in acetone for about 5-10 minutes. the nails pop right off with no damage! best/ quickest method i've tried so far!
The problem is that I want to keep my hard gel layer on because I feel like I will rip my natural nails because I'll get impatient with the remover (from past experience) 😭💖🫶
@@AnneElizabethNailsi have the same problem! my nails are damaged (mostly grown out now tho) from jello jello & the remover alone. there is usually a layer of jello jello still left on my nails when i do this method! just the hard gel pops off. i file the rest of the jello jello off when i do my prep. my new growth has no damage :)
I just watched a video of a peek base and it supposed to be just for fencing the color and not the tips! I didn’t know how to tag you. But I actually may try this! Erika Nails It! It’s Liquid Layers & Daisy Dips peel base!
hi anne! unrelated but im dying to know how your filming setup looks! you’ve inspired me to think about trying to make content of me doing my nails also 🫶🏻💕 how do you record your face and table at the same time? how does your table not get ruined with acetone? also what cam do you use?
I have a HUGE question!! Im having so much trouble with lifting and its getting so frustrating 😅 i have dehydrator primer hard base gel rubber base gel nail glue gel cuticle pushers 91% alcohol acetone full cover tips and poly gel has been my main builder product. What should i use and in what order? Idk if im just doing it wrong or what. I would really really appreciate the help. Loooooove your videos btw you are so creative and give me so many ideas for nail art!
I'm sorry your nails suffered for science. :( I've tried a couple that work fine with gel overlay but not with extensions. In my case, I wear my nails for as long as possible (usually about 4 weeks) so I don't have the same time concerns with taking them off. I managed to mess up my thumb recently with a glue reaction and decided to put on a simple set. I've had some stuff going on, as well, and it seemed easier. Interestingly, I've gotten a ton of compliments on them. lol! I hope you are well and enjoying upcoming Halloween festivities. ❤❤
Which hard gel do you use? I can definetely recommend using the Semi-Solid glue kit from Curv-life! My own nails are SO much healthier, after I started using it on top of my hard gel layer❤
Mmmm maybe not rough the nails up, apply cuticle oil on the nail bed and then the peel off the base coat ? I appreciate you bringing us along on this journey cutie 🌺 💕💖
Do you think nail glue would stick to the buffed hard gel layer? I make press ons because I can easily take them off with a glue remover by makartt so I make press ons and take em off three days later🫣if it does stick, you should definitely try making press ons, they’re so easy to remove and switch your nails🕺🏽🫶🏽 (btw love your videos sm you def inspired me to make my own channel 💜💜)
I do always wonder if these removers are just some sort of oil… like would a normal oil to the same. When I’m taking off my nails I just use warm water or oil and it looks like it’s about the same ❤
OMG.... I cant remember the name of this Korean Nail Girlie's channel.. BUT.. She uses a non-gel peel off base!! So she puts it on after prep. Before anything else, and it is air dry. So then after that is dry she puts the JelloJello over and then continues with whichever nail extensions she uses....?? Maybe this could help?
I've never posted a comment on any TH-cam video so I'm not sure that I'm doing it right, why don't you try a nail glue remover, I normally use jello jello and I don't have any problems with it but it's can be expensive, so I started experimenting with nail glue removers recently I've used Gellen nail glue remover, I got it off of Shein. They recommend using their type of nail glue but I'm pretty sure I didn't, I don't remember the nail glue that I used. It's a matter of saturating the nail enough and waiting long enough for it to do it what it does. Then you got to loosen the nail resaturate, it's not necessarily a quick process. If you have the patience then I find that it works just as good as jello jello. Although I don't use a hard base, so that could be where you're finding that you have a problem. I noticed in your video it was taking your hard base off with the nail. That's probably because the hard base is made out of a gel which is what the nail remover is made to remove. So you might just find that no matter what you use it's going to remove your hard base. I hope that helps. And I'm sorry my comment was so long.
Hi Anne!! If it’s ok, on your next video, can you talk about which editing software and equipment you used/still use when you started your channel? I just started my channel, with another account. I’ve been following you for quite some time and seen your growth and progress. Much love cutie 💕💕💕
Have you ever tried the UNT peel off base gel or the FZANEST peel off base gel? They’re both from amazon. I bought the FZANEST one but have yet to try it because I’m lowkey scared 😂 I want to wear my nails for at least a week and I’m scared that they’ll just pop off the same day lol! I’m with you though, maybe it’s just best to file them down and re apply the hard gel layer like you normally do. Can’t wait to see your next Halloween set! 💕🫶🏽🎃👻
@ is it still easy for you to take them off? If so then I’m gonna have to do that too because I want mine to last a week or for a few days but I want them to come off without any issues too. I heard that it’s a great product to use I’m just a little nervous/scared I guess 😂
Can you please link your pink hard gel, beetle base and top coat, your brush and whatever else you use for simple protection to help heal and grow your nails. Or and video 💡 idea, do a video on just that, without putting on or taking off a set please and thank you.
PLEASE PLEASE Can you please do just one more using the Jello Jello peel off base coat and use the easy to get ohora to remove it instead of the one kill. I would be so great full thank you

hi anne!! for me, i use builder gel as a way to protect my natural nails and i also like to change my nails somewhat often, and i figured out how to use a peel off base coat on top of builder gel/hard gel.

Yay been waiting for your new upload ❤ love you sm 😊
i love youuu 🥹🩷
I'm sorry your nails suffered for science. :( I've tried a couple that work fine with gel overlay but not with extensions. In my case, I wear my nails for as long as possible (usually about 4 weeks) so I don't have the same time concerns with taking them off. I managed to mess up my thumb recently with a glue reaction and decided to put on a simple set. I've had some stuff going on, as well, and it seemed easier. Interestingly, I've gotten a ton of compliments on them. lol! I hope you are well and enjoying upcoming Halloween festivities. ❤❤
I would definitely put a thin layer of top coat on ur hard gel. Then apply the peel off base.
Maybe try Holo taco peel off base coat? 😊
It's normal polish. So you need to let it dry completely before you start using gel products. 😃
The jello jello one kill is trash. I was totally influenced on that one, lesson learned. Thanks for the video.
Your final review 😂
So 5/5 DO NOT DO IT lmbooo got it 🫡😂
I think you should try finding something with a bit of a curve to get under the nail
Try doing your hard gel then rub cuticle oil then base coat then apply your nails
I make press ons because I can easily take them off with a glue remover by makartt so I make press ons and take em off three days later🫣if it does stick, you should definitely try making press ons, they’re so easy to remove and switch your nails🕺🏽🫶🏽
(btw love your videos sm you def inspired me to make my own channel 💜💜)
I have the opposite problem, I have a manual labor job and I'm trying to find one that will stay on until I take it off. 😃💜
Pinky prayers noted, 🙏🏼, and thumb as well of course.👍
Thank you so muchhhhh 😭💗🫶💖 you're a real one 🥹
Damn I was really hoping this would go differently. 😢
I used the Makartt on my toes over a slick layer. They’ve not budged in three weeks! I’m worried…
Hi cutie!!! That's awsome! 🥹💖🫶 I'm going to try to remember to talk about it in one of my next videos 💗💗💗
@ Thank you so much 😊💕💕
You should try to do magnetic nails 💅🏽
Ooooo that's a good idea!
@ indeed I seen Emily do it &. I think you should try it
She seen this lady wearing some & did a video
I’m interested to see how yours come out
What if you try baby oil or a good olive oil? Ya know, just as an experiment.
What brand of hard gel base do you use?
EARLYYY HI CUTIEEE
HI CUTIE!! ☺️🫶
I use the FZANEST peel off base coat but I only put it in the middle of the nail so my nails don’t pop off the next day 😅
@ is it still easy for you to take them off? If so then I’m gonna have to do that too because I want mine to last a week or for a few days but I want them to come off without any issues too. I heard that it’s a great product to use I’m just a little nervous/scared I guess 😂
@@i_am_nishaj yes they do ! I usually take some oil and a cuticle pusher and they come right off. It’s the best peel off base coat I’ve found so far
@ oh okay that sounds good!! I’ll definitely try it out then. Thank you so much! 😚🫶🏽💕
@ You’re so welcome ! 💖💖
I think you have to wait like 20 mins or something, i’m not sure.
Maybe watch Korean nail videos, maybe u can see how they use the peel off base gels.
What if you apply it under your hard gel?
I have used the Makartt peal off base coat, It sucked I hade to soke it off
😢💗
Why did you switch from rubber base to hard gel?
I wonder if ohora dissolves jello jello peel off base?
You can use a silicone hair serum. I just buy a cheap one.
Is hard gel layer equal to builder gel?
Can you please link your pink hard gel, beetle base and top coat, your brush and whatever else you use for simple protection to help heal and grow your nails. Or and video 💡 idea, do a video on just that, without putting on or taking off a set please and thank you.
Why did the bottle look right when it was shown right after opening, then after you used it and held it up again, the letters were reversed????
LMAOOO! It the face camera settings 🤣
You should try the hoho lee one... Nevermind! Lol. Its too expensive to throw cross the room.. Lol.
