    Aqara T1 Lightstrip
    Aqara is at it again with yet another new product, and this is a good one. Introducing the T1 Lightstrip. This is an addressable lightstrip with some really cool effects that works with HomeKit and Matter. And it includes a special feature unlike most other like strips that I think Apple Home users are going to love.
    For anyone looking at adding more lightstrip to your home (and who isn’t?), let’s see if this is the one to beat. Like with any product there are pros and cons so stick around and I’ll tell you everything you need to know.

    I've been waiting for this! I love being able to stay in the Aqara family. All their products work great with my Apple smart home.
    Only issue I keep having is one of the Aqara switches keeps getting removed from the app. I think it's because my kids press it too long trying to turn it on. super annoying having to keep adding it back every other day

    Just for your sake, it’s “TUNABLE white” (like you tune in a radio station, you’re fine tuning the white color temperature). There’s no letter “R”, you aren’t turning from one color temperature to another. Hope this helps.

    Another great video, Brad. I’m actually watching this with my 15-year old to see if he wants some light strips for his room, as he’s talked about it in the past. We’ll look at both this Aqara and the Onvis given several good reviews for that strip.

      Thanks Dr. Cole! The Onvis light strip has better effects with more zones but if you are looking for a solid light strip that works very reliably, then Aqara is an excellent choice! Hope your son enjoys whichever way you go!!

    Thanks for the review. Seems like these strips can fill a lot of need. Where do you see the use case for the say Govee strip vs this strip?

    Hey Brad, I have a quick question. My understanding is that you have to update your M2 firmware to matter (which I have not done because my understanding is if I do, I will lose the security alarm features)but if you do this, you lose the security alarm features in Apple HomeKit for the M2 hub). Do you know if this is true? Because if it is true, I have to decide between having an Aqara security system, or the new light strip.

    How many lumens per meter?

    It's tUnable white, not tURnable white. As in, you can tune the white colour temperature.

    Matter is King! Except when its a Zigbee device bridged via a hub, then its practically false advertising. Everyone seems to have the same video script. Makes you question the reliability of the review. Im giving a thumbs down, not for your work Brad but for Aqara's heavy hand on the three nearly identical "honest reviews" I've watched today so far.

      full ack! I wouldnt have watched this video had I read „Zigbee“ in its title.

      What's the problem?I have aqara hub and it has more features because of it

      @Bigglare Can you please elaborate on this? I am planning to buy an Aqara hub and saw that Camera hub G3 just got Matter support. Does that mean I can use that to connect it to any other thread router? I am Kind of new to this Matter/Zigbee ecosystem.

      I agree. I refuse to add a hub made by Aqara to my home network. Matter was advertised that we wouldn’t need a hub outside of our chose home hub. This is the case for a lot of devices, but Aqara does not follow suit.

    • @AndrewDee

      @@no-budhee6657 this is completely wrong. Matter is local and it needs a hub anyways. You won't be able to use matter devices without a matter controller. So what's the problem of adding a cheap hub

  • @nev0076

    They are too pricey.

  • @nicholas790

    Matter or not, I will not buy any devices that require a separate hub so that makes this a no buy product.

  • @kevinpiip3427

    WHY wouldn’t they just use thread with matter?!?!???? Its so stupid to use zigbee when thread is a thing with matter i fucking hate hubs so much

    • @GrantSoundsGood

      Matter isnt stable rn my nanoleaf bulbs have a super hard time staying connected. So for now. Zigbee fixes it and also your “boarder router” is a hub just you already have it. Hubs are the definite choice for stability. Even wifi stuff uses a hub ie your wifi router. Plus honestly your not saving much money going with matter for the time being. They are priced around the same and they still require a hub of some sort which as of now arent cheaper than zigbee hubs. Just something to think about. Dont hate on the hub bub!!

    • @ypark2877

      Had to send nano strip with thread back. Weak design where strip connects to controller. Falls out easy

    • @AndrewDee

      You will be surprised but to use matter over thread products, you will need to buy a hub
