- Twenty is the ninth studio album by Lynyrd Skynyrd released in 1997. The title of the album refers to the fact that it had been twenty years since the plane crash which killed the original lead singer, the guitarist, and a backup singer.
For this album the band brought in two Southern rock veterans, Rickey Medlocke, who had been a drummer for the band briefly before forming Blackfoot, and Hughie Thomasson of the Outlaws. The track "Travelin' Man" is the first studio recording of a song from the original band's 1976 live album One More From The Road. Making use of modern technology, the band were able to use original singer Ronnie Van Zant's vocal tracks on parts of the song, in order to create a duet between Johnny and Ronnie. The Album Cover is a fictional drawing of Monument Valley on the Navajo reservation.

I was fortunate enough to meet Dale in person...she kind enough to give me roses for my bday in Pocatello Idaho in the "90's" ...we discussed this song & it's even more special to me! We met at a tattoo shop where I worked...Thanks Dale you left me with a great story and getting to know your kindness. TY

As long as one of us is chained, none of us are free. So true and a great Cover done by a great band!
Nobody could have covered it better. ✊

GREAT NONE OF US ARE FREE LYNYRD SKYNYRD !!!
"None Of Us Are Free"
You better listen my brother
'Cause if you do you can hear
There are voices still callin' from across the years
And they're cryin' across the ocean
And they're cryin' across the land
And they will until we all come to understand
That none of us are free
None of us are free
None of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
Well there are people in the darkness
And they just can't see the light
And if we don't say it's wrong then that says it's right
We got to feel for each other
Let our brothers know we're here
Got to get the message and send it out loud and clear
That none of us are free
None of us are free
None of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
Well it's the single truth
We all need to see
That none of are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
Well I swear to you salvation isn't very hard to find
None of us can find it on our own
We got to join together. Spirit, heart and mind
All the are suffering, knows they're not alone
None of us are free
None of us are free
If you just look around you
You're see what I say
'Cause the world's gettin' smaller each passin' day
Now it's time to make some changes
Now it's time all realized
That the truth is shinin' right before our eyes
'Cause none of us are free
None of us are free
None of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
Well it's the very heart of humanity
'Cause none of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
None of us, none of us
None of us, none of us
None of us, none of us are free
None of us, none of us
None of us, none of us
None of us, none of us are free
None of us are free
None of us are free
None of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free
'Cause it's the very truth
We all need to see
That none of us are free if one of us is chained
None of us are free

I am sure I will get crucified for this comment but technically it should be "None Of Is Free " but it's a beautiful song and grammar doesn't matter in songs

This CD was ok, but it's nothing compared to the original Skynyrd.
You know, that was a "mistake" (for lack of a better word) that I originally made when the Rossington-Collins Band came along and also the first couple of Skynyrd albums from the reformed band. I kept holding them up and comparing them to the original band. Finally I realized that was a mistake because, as anyone has to admit, they ARE different bands given the personnel changes. So, then I just started judging the new material on its own merits. I found that I enjoyed the new stuff and was more satisfied with it when I let it stand on its own two feet instead of expecting it to live up to songs which are now legendary in American rock and roll history.
Its interesting how this is different than that earlier stuff, but also how different it is from the other versions of this song. I wouldn't say this is representative of Skynard, or indeed, this song.
But its very interesting, and I'm not sure how to feel about it exactly.
Also, purple monkey dishwasher.
@@docindomito3468 It's a cover of a Ray Charles (I think?) song, that's why it's so different.
Original Skynyrd I saw a 1976 and I saw the rossington Collins band in 1981 fabulous shows can't deal with this new Skynyrd without rvz and AC no Skynyrd I met Gary and Ricky and Johnny didn't have a whole lot to say
@@reginabillotti I think Solomon Burke sang it first, but I could have his name a bit off; a great Blues singer none the less. He may not have been first, but was Great so definitely worth a listen if you enjoy this bc he sure sang it with feeling & it aired on an episode of House years ago getting my attention. Great song and this is a great Cover. Thanks. :)
Johnny is a better singer than Ronnie
