Let's say the piece that carries the ball up the life is called the "chair." Above the chair is a small rod that flips when it goes over the top. It touches the ball as the ball goes up, and when it flips, it throws the ball backwards. Hope this helped, JoeDan54
@MechanicalSculptor Well... in 3 weeks from now, I hope to upload a video of my new knex ball machine "Metropolis". Which is about 4 times bigger and has a lot more elements on it!
Can anyone explain how the ball is pushed off the lift at the very beginning? Like at 0:13. It looks like it defies gravity and should just continue and fall off the other side, but there must be a piece that I can't see or something... thankss
Incredible! I love it! Ingenuity at work.
6 years later and this video still is up and kicking
Cheers! The one I'm working on right now is about 3 times bigger and it already has 10 paths.
Great video Rogier, I often come back to check it out again. Hope you have some new work ready to upload soon, look forward to it! Cheers, Brett.
Great work, cool video. I look forward to your next ball machine.

Nice, I like all the Knex guys sitting around. That big helix looks awesome!
That's not dumb, it's just simpler than multiple paths.

instructable?
@Kairah89 Can't wait for that one mate, make sure you send it to me so that I don't miss it, sounds great!
I used Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, and thanks.

Sorry, this ball machine is long gone. I made it almost a year ago!
nice. with something like that, how much planning do you do ahead of time and how much do you just make up as you go along?

Because I wanted to build something on the empty space next to my bed, my room is very weird... :P
