- Gravensteen Castle, located in the heart of Ghent, Belgium, boasts a rich history that dates back to the late 12th century. Construction of the castle was initiated by Count Philip of Alsace around 1180, intended to serve as a symbol of his authority and power. The castle's name, "Gravensteen," translates to "Castle of the Counts" in Dutch, emphasizing its association with the local aristocracy.
Over the centuries, Gravensteen witnessed various transformations and purposes, from a residence for the Counts of Flanders to a courthouse and even a factory. Despite its diverse uses, the castle's imposing medieval architecture has been well-preserved, allowing visitors to glimpse into the region's medieval past.

It's been around 10 years since we last visited our Flemish gem of a castle, but she's still looking as beautiful as back then ❤
WOW! 10 YEARS! I think a trip back is needed! We need to see the HH do their take on Gravensteen hehe. Thank you so much for watching 👀 x

Alessa, and Brett
I wish you full-recovery soon, Alessa.
It seems that we all get sick during the season changes.
Gravensteen Castle, what's the beauty you presented in the film!
So much hidden grace inside out. As you walk through the castle, I got goosebumps. I liked the celling so much, not wooden vaulted ceiling but dry stone work of art!!! Unheard of the history this castle carries. As always, your research flatters my ears. Well done, Alessa and Brett. STRESS FREE Take care of yourselves...Alessa my better half and Brett.
Nice castle, great captured from you. Nice museum inside the castle. Great informative Video👌👍
So impressed with all you did even not feeling well Alessa and Brett...so much information and so much to see in the touring of this castle, the armory room was so impressive, so much on display and the swords ⚔ I couldn't imagine how anyone could lift one especially wearing that armor...thank you for all your work in putting this together...I certainly appreciate it and do hope you both get well soon...sending healing light your way for a speedy recovery!
Wow, fantastic display area inside the castle. Stunning view from the top of the castle. Amazing walking tour of the castle.
Hello Alessa and Brett 👋
That’s another incredible castle and the amazing information ❤️. Thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing 👍. Have a great day 👍.
Wonderful tour of the old fortress/castle, Alessa and Brett. I would have enjoyed seeing the torture devices. Morbid? 🤣 Shame you couldn't on this day. Still enjoyed the tour and hearing the history! Stunning inside and out. Interesting and fun protest by the students! Worked in public opinion too. The so called "sin taxes" work quite well here in the US. But, not the tax on tea! 🤣🤣 Thanks so much for bringing us along.
Hi Alessa & Brett! What a fantastic castle with such a rich history. A very dark history too! I loved the rampart walk and the views from the top. As always, your presentation, videography, and editing were top-notch 💯 Have a great week ahead! ❤
Looks like a beautiful place there friend great video 👌👌👍👍👍👍💜
Its honestly like a Mini series love the videos. Glad to see your back at doing what you do best. If I could hit the like button 1000 times I would. Brilliant Alessa & Brett.
Ghent is on our list of places we want to visit. That castle is just stunning. Loved the armoury room. How the heck they fought in that! Wow that fireplace in the armoury room is epic. What a horrible history this castle has. Beer tax!!!! Bad times. Loved this - thanks guys 🍻
Hello Alessa we will watch later xx
Hope to catch this before our premiere!

Excellent tour of the castle. Such a grim history. Interesting stories from the prison.
Hello Alessa and Brett, what a lovely castle , it was absolutely stunning inside. Lovely to see the armour and weapons on display. Loved hearing the history of the castle very gruesome stories though. Nice spiral steps to the top and wonderful views from there. Lovely narration as always. Hope you both feel much better soon. Take care xx Julie and Tony xx
😍😍 Hey POP, what an incredible and formidable castle. Interesting to see how much is so well preserved still, this really was excelletn,, thank you both!
That is a interesting and amazing to see the weapons on display…some of those swords look massive and must be quite heavy to handle. The torture they had to endure there is brutal I can’t even imagine. Awesome looking castle and I love the view overlooking the town . Wonderful tour and narration of its history. Thank you. 👍😊🇨🇦

Wow nice place, do they preserve theire castles better in Europe than in the UK?
Its a shame ol Oliver Cromwell was let loose on most of our castles, we have mainly ruins left.
