- Federal officials are looking into what caused a single-engine plane to crash land, killing at least one person, in a quiet Long Island neighborhood. News 4’s Adam Harding reports.
My heart goes out to those whose loved onewas lost what an unselfish person to land it in a place where no onewas going to or likely to be harmed, god be with the family and friends.

Very sorry for the person who tragically died, RIP, and may God have mercy on those who are injured 🙏🏼. The pilot obviously saw something was wrong and tried to make it back safely but sadly, the problem was too severe.

Those particular planes only have 1 door incredibly so the 2 people in front can exit much faster than rear seat especially if you are injured

In all fairness, way more cars are on the road than planes in the sky at any given time of the week or day. You can’t even compare the two because cars far outnumber the number of planes that fly each day….like a million to one or something very close to that or perhaps greater than that. That argument doesn’t fly anymore that there are more car accidents than plane accidents. That’s right…..because there are far more cars in operation than there planes. How many cars, trucks, SUVS, motor homes, campers, and motorcycles are registered each year in comparison to airplanes? I rest my case.
Some people here are missing something. This has nothing to do with cars. It has to do with private plane maintenance. It most definitely a major issue that the government needs to address.

COVID, slowed training. And now costs are skyrocketing for keeping them up.
Pilots that have been vaxed have had a 1000% increase in neurological problems along with heart damage. These pilots are having medical incidents as a result of the vax and starting to fall from the sky. Once the transition to single pilot aircraft on large passenger planes, we'll be seeing these come down just as fast.
I used to read the NTSB Reporter and there were just as many of these accidents in the 80s and 90s. There is just more widespread reporting on these accidents today.

To be fair, the actual passenger airplanes people usually travel in are much safer than any mode of transportation. They tend to have more than one engine so if one fails the other can keep it up, and two pilots so there's always someone paying attention. The airplane on this video most likely only has one engine and the single pilot, so more riskier.

General aviation flying has always been hazardous, for many reasons. Commercial aircraft are much safer in comparison to general aviation.
Ntsb records show over 200 fatal and over 800 non fatal general aviation accidents for each of the last number of years. Like every other terrible news item, it's just the immediacy of the internet that makes it seem worse.

Many states require yearly testing for automobiles. Why not a yearly certification of planes?
All aircraft require an extensive annual inspection by an FAA authorized inspector. In addition, aircraft used in any commercial operation (including retail rentals and flight instruction) requires the same inspection every one hundred hours of operation. The hundred hour inspection is signed off by an A&P (airframe and powerplant) mechanic but is essentially the same inspection as an annual. A rental airplane that flies thirty to forty hours a month would therefore require could require three or more such inspections a year.

do your homework - all aircraft have FAA mandated annual inspections. Any aircraft used for commercial purposes (in this case a school trainer) also have additional 100 hour inspections.
