Build quality is a bit better on the RA. I purchased this one because it was a bit cheaper and returned the RA. But it has been a pain closing it even though it's a quick release. The RA is easier to close (at least for me), heavier and is deeper inside making it longer. The buttons are plastic on this one and metal in the RA. For small spaces this one is better but i think I prefer the RA just because its easier to close. I have to use scissor handles or something similar to close my LA -D85 smh.
@@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 Just wanna say thank you so much for this info. This is pretty much the only piece of information I could find regarding the RA vs the LA. I don't understand why there's no info on this. Can't even find the LA series soft boxes on SmallRig's website.
Hey Marian, better is subjective. It all depends on your use case. They both give off pretty good lighting for the price. With that said. I personally would pick the Smallrig over the Selena for better construction and longevity. Hope that helps 🙏🏼
Can you close this softbox up with all the diffusion and grids still on it? My current softboxes, I have to take them out and reinstall them everytime I open up the softbox, costing valuble time. If I can pack this up with everything still inside and then open it again it's already on there, it would be a gamechanger for me.

I wonder what's the difference between this and RA-D85 softbox.
I’m wondering that very same thing.

What's the purpose of the honey comb portion? Never really seen that one before.
So far everything I've picked up from SmallRig has been pretty good.
The honeycomb stops over spill light and gives you more directional light. In some cases it eliminate the need for flags.
Dude I have so many Smallrig parts, they own me lol.
@@AkaBull Thanks!
@@MisplacedMotoVlogger Anytime brother 🙏
Hi, what’s the difference between the LA-D85 and the RA-D85? Both are 85cm soft boxes. Why is there a $70 price difference ?
I'm really not sure J, you may have to Google that one. Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.
@@AkaBull it's cool
RA more deep, more weight/ LA lighter, less deep
@@andresespinosa7820 thank you
Thanks Andres
Can you tell me please if it's better that selens softbox ?

@@AkaBull I need for photography , that's why I asking you, seems like selens it's a beautydish softbox
@@MarianMoisii Yeah, you all ready know the smaller the box the harder the light. So I would more likely use it in a beauty dish scenario.

Send me a message on Instagram, I have something to show you.
Is the mechanism metal or plastic?
