    Why would anyone want to pop a wheelie on their road bike? Maybe when I was 8 years old and trying to get some girls attention. When racers do this they look pathetic, and needy, starving for attention - like winning is not enough.

    Can someone lend me their road bike so I can try it? Given the price of road bikes these days (££££!) not sure I want to attempt that on my own one. I could do it in my childhood but pretty sure that bike was about £50 from Halfords 😂

    i thought it was all in the lifting with the arms, cool i may try in my next rides but to be honest i'm a bit scared ahah. but actually it happened quite a few times riding in the alps when i had to apply full pressure to quickly pass a mate that i was riding side by side with because a car was comming and my front wheel always lifted up. I guess it's easier when it's uphill

    David Im hoping you can help me , I watch all your videos and have just bought a Scott Addict RC30 2022 and like on your video you do state you didnt get on with the saddle, I am thinking this also, could you please recommend a comfortable sadle for me please, Im not so clued up with saddles, I would appreciate all the help thank you

    • @davidarthur
      @davidarthur  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tricky recommending saddles but I'm familiar with the Syncros saddles that Scott likes to spec and I must admit I'm no fan, too flat and firm for me. A really popular saddle that might work is the Fabric Scoop - it's got more curve and cushioning and it's relatively affordable so could be worth a punt

    What's the recommended gear combination to use to do a wheelie?

    • @vongdong10
      @vongdong10 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's different for everyone and every bike. Usually use the small ring in the front and I'd say around the 4th largest cog in the cassette to get started to get the wheel in the air then play around and find a comfortable gear since it depends on the speed.

    • @davidarthur
      @davidarthur  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also found doing it on a slight gradient helped as well. Not too steep though!!

  • @Rose_Butterfly98
    @Rose_Butterfly98 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have definitely accidentally done it a lot. Road bikes have their weight more to the rear and if we go up a small steep slope after stopping for awhile, I usually have my ratios low enough that I'll wheelie all the way up without noticing.
    That moment when the front drops down at the top of the hill is jarring lol.

      "Without noticing" I smell a lie... what happens when you try to steer? 🤨

    • @Rose_Butterfly98
      @Rose_Butterfly98 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hausemaster5659 it's straight up so there's no need to steer, sometimes I do try and steer because I'm off centre so I notice and hit the rear brake to get the front back down.
      Essentially the bike tilts a little because of the wheel weight, it turns a little but not as much as it should.

    • @Rose_Butterfly98
      @Rose_Butterfly98 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Guessmynameification you know how when you learn to wheelie and you can't keep the front up for long, you're just using power to do it but after you accelerate enough your wheel comes down, essentially the same thing, but because it's a steep upslope like a wheelchair ramp kind of thing, the bike somehow balances itself on the rear wheel.

    • @hausemaster5659
      @hausemaster5659 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Rose_Butterfly98 Dude... when you ride a bike you're making microadjustments to the handlebars to stay upright... even when riding no hands you make little adjustments with your body.
