      It's called a synchronicity 👁🌍👁
      (just proof that we literally are the programmers of our own realities - a little game called "Life" 🤔🤔🤔)
      Keep an eye out, you'll start noticing that happening multiple times a day on smaller (or sometimes bigger) scales 🙏🏽

    I've collabed with alot of major players (Metro, Wheezy, Sizzle, Zaytoven, CNote, Juicy J, etc...) and none of us ever discuss percentage splits. Everything is ALWAYS down the middle 50/50.--Doesn't matter if I put 1 sound in it or gave some1 a loop & did majority. Only weird mfs play that game of "I did more in the beat, so I deserve a bigger cut". Main reason why I don't work with just anyone..

    • @TrillCarteljay
      @TrillCarteljay 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      That's how it should be. If anybody feels like they deserve more in a collab, they might as well just work alone

    • @NyakzOTSD
      @NyakzOTSD 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@TrillCarteljay not true.. because everything isnt equal!! If I make the drums bass main melody and play keys and you add percussion.. your input isnt worth 50%! There is nothing wrong with asking for a spilt that is true to your in put... if you want to use your logic.. me saying change that snare sound is worth an equal spilt... c'mon

    • @jeanlegrand
      @jeanlegrand 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Nyakz then imagine a major artist picking the beat especially because of the percussion...or that particular snare.

      @@NyakzOTSD if the input was so small & un-needed, why was it included? no matter how small you feel a contribution was, it still was a contribution. & there's no rulebook that says 1 sound is more important than another. so why even play that game? 50/50 with the point of view of selling loop packs. If someone pays $20 for a loop pack and it's NOT royalty free, 9/10 times there probably won't be a placement and if anything the user of the loops could make a beat and flip it for WAY more money by selling it on beatstars/directly to ppl/etc. So IMO $20 isn't a lot to cough up - whereas a free sample pack that's royalty bearing has a WAY smaller chance of generating ANY revenue for the creator of the sample. Regardless creators of any composition (if published online) are entitled to a share of the copyright in some capacity

    If you make it clear that you should come back to the loop creator to discuss royalties, there’s nothing wrong with that.
    Loop packs should be looked at as paying for a collab... pay for the collab, split the royalties... that’s fine

    I thought I was the only one who thought it was a bit odd that people were charging for loop packs and say its free for everything else except when someone pops off. That’s why I work with producers closely if I need to use loops. Alot of producers just copy and paste information regarding loops and the terms and don’t even know what they’re telling people.

    I’m on splice but most for drum loops, presets and effects. I listen to some sample packs but in my mind everyone else does too so it’s a no go cause I don’t want to sound like everyone else. If it’s featured, I won’t even give it a shot. The rare times I do fuk with samples, it’s unfeatured basic loops I can remake by ear with deviations and sounds I like , effects or some weird stuff not in the genre. I like humming out my own melodies and turning them into midi, bouncing to audio file, then running that through serato and I got my own shit and no percentage drama.

      It could help with getting placements. But after getting your first placements skip those loops and shit.

      DamnZAY but using loops is collabing with a producer if you really think about it.

    My opinion is Technically if a loop is labeled 'Royalty Free" & paid for upfront, that could be considered a "Work for Hire". So it could be argued as a final sale with no backend money on a placement. But if the loop is labeled on the site as "All or Some Rights Reserved" That's not really "Free" to use. As a writer myself I would negotiate "writers" split if I used someone else's loop pack & got a placement. I believe that's a "Fair Exchange".
