Awe man... that tortoise reminds me of my ole buddy "Fred." He was a Sulcata Tortoise who lived to be over one hundred years old. Amazing animals. We had a handicapped cat who lost his tail, a leg, and couldn't urinate by himself. We had to express his bladder at least twice a day. Fred would give the handicat a ride on his shell. It was hilarious. WOW! That blue mountain jasper is beautiful stuff. But that piece from the White Buffalo is insane! Looks better than any Southwestern style painting I've seen. Oh geez! Jerry busted out all the goods at the end. Thanks for another great video.
I've always wanted to go there, thanks for the virtual trip! The garnets are awesome, my birthstone. Love the tortoise too! It's actually illegal to sell what you find in California, but I won't tell 😉
The little ones are totally awesome. I have some for my dollhouse. They are so beautiful and they are worth keeping and cutting and polishing even for jewelry love them!!!

Im an April baby too! That lovely tortoise is in a kind of twilight hibernation right now and doesn't need to eat. After April it will be warm enough for it to move around and eat plants. Thank you for this video! Im so so excited to go dig next month!
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. I definitely want to go back and explore more. I did find some whoppers on my only trip to the beds. The two big ones I got are dark reddish brown mostly from what I can see. They are both conglomerates, which I absolutely love. I have my own theories on formation. The process had to be *molten *liquid to plastic *in a furnace of varying heat *free floating to allow spheroidal shapes *access to varying minerals at different stages of the kiln like formation *allowed to both slowly and rapidly cool *the ability to accrete with other nodules of various sizes while still hot enough to meld together as one, whether two or countless in number *the freedom to not be molested by the matrix and yet then shortly afterward, still hot enough to be fused to the bedrock. And yet the same geode material right next to it, loose, in a different colored matrix, as though the blobs and matrix were All inexorably intwined in the same almost cataclysmic fired process. Much like doing pottery in a kiln that has the ability to drop a dirty pour of molten glass minerals into, that then could free float inside without a holder. And yet versatile enough to fire many items at many different temperatures at the same time. The free floating would allow for concentric jaw breaker like rings of differentiation and a rind like glaze on the outside, all in one firing. Sorry for the poor wording. I struggle to write.
Looks like that guy has all the best tools. Estwing makes some of the best paleo picks and rock hammers. I'm always looking for Estwing hammers and picks at yard sales. Got a small sledge at a yard sale for $5 and a pick/hammer for $2. 👍
We had a spur thighed tortoise. His name was Max. He was the size of half a walnut when I got him. He was about 1' across when the lucky guy became a breeding tortoise. He spent a few weeks at an unusual pet store. Max wandered the floor as a mascot. They put a bicycle flag on his back. It was funny watching the flag moving around.

Dug geodes at the Hausers and surrounding beds for years. Great fun. If they have a cave-in on one side of the egg, they are more likely to be duds. Best ones likely to be found in complete orbs. One concern... Use of power tools on public land for rockhounding, unless you're on your claim, is a big no-no. Punishable by fine and up to confiscation of your tools and vehicle. Hand tools only. Please clarify and correct me if I'm wrong.
A couple weeks ago, I would have taken you up on the offer to go out there. Now, I don't think I could afford the gas. I wouldn't want to leave until I found one of those thunder cores. Good times

Where is this place??? I’ve only been in the cinnamon beds and non of these hills are familiar. Is this south west of the claim? (the claim is the hills south west of the potato patch & the cinnamon beds)
So that bluish yellowish glass that they are calling Opalite is actually the modern trade name for the glass real Opalite is the old term for common Opal
@@lapidarydave Those geos are so common now you can find them everywhere for sale. You must live out there and sell to the snow birds that show up for the winter.
