Have had so much trouble with this foot. Never saw tweezers used to get fabric into the funnel. And you actually sewed at a slow speed so we could see how you were getting fabric fed evenly. Thank you for this video.
This is the greatest presser foot tutorial I’ve ever seen. Right now I’m learning how to make cloth napkins. How do I handle corners with this foot? Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this video. I bought a 1/16 Suisei hemmer foot to hem almost invisible organza and man, I really thought I was gonna go insane there for a second trying to work such a tiny hem into the feed. My hemmer foot looks different but your tips put me at ease, way less stressful seeing it actually work. Thanks again!
Excellent instruction. I had no problem doing it myself. I wouldn’t have known to start with stitch or two before feeding the fabric through the loop. That made all the difference. After that it went perfectly. Thank you.
Thank you so much for mentioning the landmarks you use on the foot and also how to know how much of a fold to feed through. This has been extremely helpful to me. I'm actually looking forward to practicing more. THANK YOU!
I have purchased my very first serger, it's an old model I have found on EBay Singer 14u44, I find your videos extremely helpful because you explain everything so well and your voice is easy to listen to. Thank you so very much.
Brillant!! That's what the French called "roulotee" and of course was made by hand and used in the Haute Cotoure. Could be not the same but is a fantastically helpful resource. Thank you!!!
Watched several videos on using hemmer foot. This one gave me the best hints to improve my technique. The close-up view of starting the fabric feeding into the foot and placement of hands/fingers to guide the fabric is very helpful.
Thank you for your video I bought my hemmer foot over a year ago and have tried using it at least a dozen times but couldn't get it to work for me with the included instructions then I found your video and it was easy thanks a bunch
Seeing how you have to wrassle with the fabric to get it to go through the funnel right, I don't feel so bad now. It cannot be over emphasized that this is a foot that needs to be practiced with a lot! I appreciate your little tip at the end to keep the corner of the hem from going over the edge. I hadn't figure that one out on my own.
This is Very helpful. I've had this foot for a while and was challenged by the beginning of the hem & how to end it well. Also, thanks for the bulky seam treatment. Grateful for these tutorials :-) !
Thank you so much....watched a few before yours and it just was not clicking. Your tip with the pin then stitch and how to hold it worked ....my scarf to poncho looks perfect....thxs again
I found one in my Mum's work box, no idea what it was used for. After watching your tutorial I used it with great results. Thank you so much for the explanation and the visual.
OMG I love making circle skirts and MY WORD my hem looks fantastic now. Great idea telling me to practice first. I used the waist circle that I cut out earlier and I did good but saw the need to go slow before hemming my beautiful circle skirt I just made. I'm so excited now. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
I have a walking foot that I bought and have not used yet. I bought it to sew silk fabric, mainly neckties. Can you please do a tutorial for how to properly use a wlking foot with silk fabric?
At this time, we do not have a video specifically about sewing silk with a walking foot; however, we do have a walking foot video that you may find helpful: www.sewingpartsonline.com/blog/use-walking-foot-updated/
Thank you so much for making this video! Sometimes you just need to see someone else do it for the instructions to really click. I bought my hemmer foot earlier today thinking I'd just figure it out on my own. HA!
Watched two other videos and this is the only one that really shows you how to do it and gives hints to help like the tweezers. Actually I have watched several of your videos that have been real helpful since I just started sewing this march with the mask.
I was experimenting with this foot to do napkins but I got aggravated and just ran them through the serger for a rolled hem. I'll practice more later. You make it look so easy. When I fiddled with it previously on my treadle machine it worked great...on my electric, not so much.
Thank you so much! I have had my hemmer foot that came with my machine many years ago and never used it. I am excited to try it. Great camera angles and commentary! 5 stars.
Every time I looked at my hemmer foot, I scared the tar out of me. With your tutorial it took away the fear. Thank you for taking the time to teach us in an easy to understand way for those of us who feared the dreaded hemmer foot. 😉
I come across your video and sewing and use of hammer foot interested me to watch. Highly useful when in earlier times conventional type we use it by hand folding very fast. It is an essential for indian mend wear kurtah. Now with modern and electric motor operated and especially for people old age or wearing glasses this foot is very useful as it is difficult to vouch yhe stitches in aligned to the same size. Wonderful presentation. As far the pin either you can use hand long stitches at the start with loose thread hanging which can be pulled out easily.
thank you so much for doing this video. I was given a hemmer foot and watched a couple of videos that did not explain how to use it very well. I watched yours and now I feel confident enough to use it now. your a good instructor.
Very nice tutorial. Thank you for doing it this way. Helped me a lot (off subject, love your nails! I wish mine were so nice!) I'll keep watching your good tutorials. Thanks!!!
Thank you! I've been dying to make pretty scales out of georgette and silk chiffon and tried to do a rolled hem by hand!!! Which didn't come out very nicely so am so happy to watch your tutorial.
I wish there was a closer up view of how she got the fabric into the foot. I have issues with my hands. Tremors and I can’t hold onto things. So I have to figure out how to do things differently. So it would have been nice to have a closer look. To me, there’s so many parts to this foot; instead of the normal ones where you just put the fabric under it. I guess I’ll just keep looking for a video that helps me. The explanation was the best I’ve come across so far and I love your videos.
Using a sewing stiletto (once upon a time every machine accessory box included them) makes working the fabric into the foot prior to beginning to sew makes this part of the process much easier.
Thank you so much for posting this. It was very helpful. I was doing it totally wrong! I'm anxious to try the correct way. BTW your ring is beautiful. :)
I watched a couple more vids on this foot before stumbling on this vid. Best one yet. So far this foot has been a pain to use. You make it look so easy. So now I'm wondering if it's me or my old 15-91 Singer machine. Nice vid though. Guess it's back to practice practice practice
Excellent video, great explanation for using the hemmer foot. I have a Janome Horizon 7700. Do you have a hemmer foot that can be used to sew on a binding of a quilt with a 2 1/ inch strip of fabric folded over? Thanks.
Are you looking for a finished binding of 1/2"? If so, we do offer a Quilt Binder Kit that can do that and is compatible with the Janome MC7700QCP: www.sewingpartsonline.com/quilt-binder-set-janome-846421007.aspx
would like to have seen the completed edge of the lightweight/chiffon fabric. but thanks for the demonstration. 1/8" looks a tad more challenging than the 1/4" would be but looks like it makes hemming chiffon much easier.
I luv ur videos. I am wondering if you can show a tutorial using the hemmer foot with a rounded edge such as on a bridal gown.or very rounded edges. Can you please upload that..It will help a lot of people, including myself.
I was thinking the same thing and I'm sorry but she is not very good at showing how to operate the machine or the parts / pressure feet I have found more detailed sewing instructors than what she is doing :( won't be back here again Bye and good Luck
I like your video. I was wondering if you could do a video on large rolled hem presser feet. I have a set of Distinctive (4/8", 6/8" and 8/8") presser feet, but the instructions are not very good and I can't figure out how to use them. Help!
When working on a curve you feed it on an angle. If the curve is greater than what you were working with, should the feed angle be great too? Thank you for doing this video!
Love all your tutorials and you have a great website. My question about the hemmer is about corners..is it the same way as the regular stitching, pivoting? Thanks!
I have been trying to practice with this foot, your video is very helpful. What I can't figure out is how to do a corner on say a napkin. How do you manage doing this on four sides? I have trouble getting started the bulk of the already hemmed side started.

Hi Irene! Unfortunately, you can't really turn a corner with a hemmer foot. You have to take the fabric out and start fresh on the next side. It just like when you go over a seam. You have to 'cut out' the excess 'bulk' and turn under. Does that make any sense? I admit, it's rather difficult to explain.
I've had a hemmer foot for decades since I bought my sewing machine and only used it today 😂 Thanks for the tutorial 💞👍
That's so fun! It's our pleasure!
Keep the edge "right here" is the most helpful instruction I've heard for using the rolled hem foot! thank you!
Have had so much trouble with this foot. Never saw tweezers used to get fabric into the funnel. And you actually sewed at a slow speed so we could see how you were getting fabric fed evenly. Thank you for this video.

Best explanation & demo I have found for my Brother sew machine. Thank you.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your kind words!
Many thanks Sarah for sharing your experience with these different sewing machine feet👏👏👏👏👏👏😀
Who could *not like this video? :-) The instruction is thorough and the visual is clear.
I really need that ....I have read the manual several times but being able to actually see it helps . Thanks.
Your video explained the hem foot to me the best! Thanks so much! I honestly could not have done it without you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share , your visual and explanation helped me so much 🙏
Excellent instruction. I had no problem doing it myself. I wouldn’t have known to start with stitch or two before feeding the fabric through the loop. That made all the difference. After that it went perfectly. Thank you.

Thank you so much for covering all the details; going over a seam and how to use the hemmer foot on sheerer fabrics!
Hello, I am new to the sewing game. But, I want to say thank you so much for all your videos! if not for you I would be lost.. you are AMAZING....
Thank you for your very clear explanation on how to use the hammer foot. I have a project that needs this type of hem!
The best video on hummer foot ever! Excellent teaching thank you so much
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Of all the hemmer foot tutorials I found, this one is the most easy to understand and follow. Thank you so much 😊

You said it right! It definitely needs a bit of practice, but once ya get it down, it's awesome!
New fan. You have been the only i found to be very detailed. Thank you so much for sharing. Kelly from Ohio
This is Very helpful. I've had this foot for a while and was challenged by the beginning of the hem & how to end it well. Also, thanks for the bulky seam treatment. Grateful for these tutorials :-) !
Good tutorial. What you show obviously works even if it is a bit tricky. I haven't bought rolled hem feet yet but think I'll manage! Thank you
Thank you so much....watched a few before yours and it just was not clicking. Your tip with the pin then stitch and how to hold it worked ....my scarf to poncho looks perfect....thxs again
Thanks for sharing this tutorial... Very helpful and motivating...
Thank you for this! This video has helped me master the hemmer foot on a vintage machine! Brilliant!! I’m so pleased!
I found one in my Mum's work box, no idea what it was used for. After watching your tutorial I used it with great results. Thank you so much for the explanation and the visual.

Hi and thanks for all videos, they're all very helpful! I'm interested if is this compatible with a Pfaff 1230 OL?
It's extremely useful with super thin fabrics...that being said, it takes a bit of practice LOL
Yes very helpful, thank you
Nice 👍

If you were to sew the needle would break on the presser foot, is that what you mean?
On the hemmer foot what settings or stitch did you use? I have an SE425 and needle always seems to far to the left and misses the hem.
This is a really useful tutorial. Thank you. Please can you advise how to turn a corner as on scarves etc.
