    I am close friends with the owner of 66 to Cali who I met at that end of my first trip on 66 in 2012. I became so passionate about the Road, I spent much time from 2013-2015, manning that kiosk and welcoming visitors to the end of the route. The end of the trail sign is actually copyrighted and owned by the owner of 66 to Cali. Thanks for highlighting that sign and the shop in your video.

    Here's another one for ya: There is a marker at the corner of Long Beach and Ocean Blvds in Long Beach that marks the historic western terminus of US 6, once the longest transcontinental highway (the east end is still in Provincetown, Mass). The current end of US 6 is now at 395 in Bishop.

      It's all the small towns that Route 66 passes through that are really important! For US Route 66 never ends and will live on in our memories!

    I live in Overton, Nevada. I'm going to start using your excellent videos to plan some of my road trips. I LOVE out of the way and quirky sights like the ones you highlight.

    Route 66 is a very mysterious highway. It was originally build for travellers going from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1926. Large areas of 66 were replaced by the Interstate System in 1985.

    I've been to the Santa Monica pier a few times. Very good place for me to get away from things.

    I've watched a lot of your videos. Really interesting pieces that bring the past alive as you walk us through US history. I've driven Rt 66 in Oklahoma from Tulsa to Clinton as it meanders around the Interstate. America's Mother Road.

    Love your video on the end of route 66, I live on a section near route 66 in San Bernardino and once lived by another section in Springfield Missouri. I have also visited the Santa Monica end.

    Fantastic video as always! Have you every done or considered doing a video on the old Ridge Route from Castaic, CA up to Sandbergs? There are a few on youtube but it would be really nice to see one done with your style and attention to detail. There are so many fascinating stops like Tumble Inn and Sandbergs. Thank you.

    No no no, Route 66 never ends! Route 66 will continue right out to Hawaii once the construction Crews get to work!
    In reality it was cool to see my hometown, which is also Will Rogers hometown mentioned! Those of us that live on Route 66 know it will never die!!

    Everywhere it seems wants to claim a piece of Route 66. We even have an 11 mile stretch claimed in SE Kansas.

    Route 66 has always had great P.R. It's not the longest highway or the most historic but somebody wrote a song about driving down the highway that needed three syllables and it took off from there. It's not even the longest highway with a "6" starting in the Los Angeles area. Rt. 66 goes to Chicago. Rt. 60 started in downtown L.A. and ends at Ft. Storey in Virginia Beach, VA. Rt. 6 started in Long Beach and ends at the tip of Cape Cod in Massachusetts. And for history Rt. 1 is the hands-down winner and is the true Main Street of America. It includes the oldest named road in the country (the Boston Post Road) It goes past the town hall of America (Washington) and the bank (New York) and a whopping one third of all Americans live within roughly 50 miles of the route. To top that off there are a huge number of battlefields from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and American Civil War within less than an hour of Rt. 1.

      It wasn't the longest, but you'll get a Helluva an argument about it not being the most historic!!

    • @edwardmeade
      @edwardmeade 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@milojanis4901 LOL. Historic is easy. Rt. 1 is easily the most historic. No argument at all. Rt. 66 is all hat and no cattle.
