- Let's discuss if these real life eBay customers are actually trying to scam me. The biggest scam on eBay may be partial refunds. Many eBay buyers will claim something is wrong with their item and request that you refund them some money. A lot of sellers will do this because it saves them money, shipping fees, and extra headache. In this video I'll show you how to not get scammed on eBay.

I'm Wick and I am a reseller for a living. I find things at garage sales, thrift stores, and even clearance at retail stores to sell. I do online arbitrage, retail arbitrage, and buy locally. While the majority of my business is done through Amazon FBA, I also sell on eBay or anywhere else I can flip the junk that I find.
I also trade stocks and futures, do affiliate marketing, and Merch by Amazon to make money online. My goal is to live a free life away from the typical 9-5 job.

//FAQ
Q: What Apps do you use to sell online (eBay and Amazon)?
A: I search the eBay sold and completed listings to get an idea of what products are selling for. I use the Amazon Seller App to scan for FBA.
Q: Can you make a living selling online?
A: Yes, the difficulty is based on how much effort you put in and how much you need to make each month. I do this full time.
Q: Where do you find your clearance products to resell?
A: Literally everywhere. Check end caps and look for clearance aisles, but mostly it will be mixed in. Ask a manager if there's any good clearance deals and build a relationship if possible.
Q: Do you make a full-time living selling online?
A: I do. All my bills are covered, I'm able to save a good amount, and put money back into the business. I also do other things to make money, but reselling is the meat. It takes a lot of work and dedication to make a full-time living reselling.

Just in case anyone didn’t know, if you find the smaller slot cars you can test them with a 9V battery. Just place it underneath the car on the metal parts and the wheels will run if it is working.
Oh! Thanks for the info 👍
I made a pair of test wires with alligator clips for testing things like slot cars and model train engines.
I totally forgot about that and just had a flashback from 40 years ago. 😂
thats badass!
Great video Wick! Keep preaching "stop partial refunds". Newer sellers are so afraid of negative feedback AND/OR worried about losing the cost of shipping that they immediately cave in and throw money back at the buyer. This just empowers these scammers to continue their scamming!
As someone on the buyer side, I have asked for a partial refund a total of zero times with hundreds of items bought, I did accept one once though, was for a board game and the box got a bit messed up in shipping which hurts resale value, it's somewhat important for games that might end up being culled from a bigger collection. Basically I either want it as is, accept say a ding or scratch or want a refund, not much in the middle ground for partial refunds.
As soon as I tell someone to "go ahead and send it back, I will give you a refund when it's back in my hands" I stop hearing from them.
I had to learn that the hard way. The first couple of months of reselling I didn’t even have people ship things back to me. I’m sure my first three returns were scams.
When I have a problem buyer, I block them. Trouble once, not twice.
How do you block a buyer?? I need to do that!
Problem is they will just start a new account and ebay doesnt care.
If ebay cared about small time sellers they would give an option to allow sellers to block anyone from buying that has under 10 positive buys or sells on their account instead of only 3 positive feedbacks.
That would cut down on lots of scammers.
They just buy under guest account
@@SharonH-ls4qw on a cell phone, contact the buyer, click three dots in the top of message page, block buyer, then de list your item, they will move onto someone else. Repost your item a few weeks later. Do the same with any stupid question buyers, nlock them and reschedule the item for later, don't answer any questions, just block and relist item for a few weeks later, works for me
WOW finally a reseller who does not tell his watchers to automatically accept “scam” returns as “cost of doing business “. If it seems like a scam I treat it as such. Thanks for a great video.
I wish eBay would let you leave negative feedback for buyers, but according to them, they want to "welcome" all kinds of buyers. I also think its worth while looking at buyer history and reviews, especially reviews they left for other sellers.
On the other side of that coin why are sellers who get 30 negatives a month still selling on Ebay?
They used to up until maybe 10 years ago, maybe it was even longer. It’d be interesting to know why they stopped allowing sellers to leave negative feedback.
since the dawn of time there have been scammers. what I don't get is that people wake up happy that they're scamming people. some people have no conscious
I would 100% hop my ass on a plane and pay them a visit. Give me your address and then steal from me? I think not.
Conscience
eBay needs to better in lots of areas and stop letting scammers on both ends get away with all of the nonsense.
eBay has got to let us warn other sellers of bad buyers. The feedback system is totally worthless.
I’m basically given a buyer a positive feedback because they’re bank allow their transaction to go through. I mean it’s ridiculous.
I agree.
Any item that is opened then returned, you can send them a 50% refund due to the item not being returned in the same condition as shipped. Its ebays return policy.
Sold 4 Vintage pop-up valentines that were part of a 200 piece collections. Buyer says they smelled "moldy" and Threw them away & then wants a partial refund! Sold many cards from this collection & 1st time any buyer had a problem. Told her I wanted them back, and would give a full refund. Guess she's retrieving them from the trash, cause she said she'll send them back. Think this one is a scammer...
On ebay you can return items if they smell. Thats been since 2001. Make them return them.
If you have a problem report it to ebay to protect yourself
My guess is they'll send you back something else...maybe different cards or only some of the cards.
I had a problem with an electronic that supposedly didn’t work. It was tested and worked. The person said they threw it in the trash. Told them to send it back to me and I would refund them. Never heard from them again.
As soon as i get weird messages i just cancel and refund the order before i even ship. Its not worth the loss on shipping to them and back and the ebay fees on that shipping. Id rather just have to relist an item rather than deal with people that are problems
I've found that most buyers are honest and usually the scammers are easy to spot. Being professional is always a good idea. So is not offering partial refunds. And don't hesitate to report abusive buyers to eBay.
I love when buyers say items sealed in plastic smell like smoke.
Yep sold a playstation to a guy. Replaced the laser and verified both dvd and non DVD games work. I thoroughly test these things, even leave them on demo overnight to make sure no overheating issues. The guy receives the package and messages me what looked like a canned message requesting a specific partial refund amount claiming the laser needs to be replaced. But again it's a brand new laser and I'm 200 percent sure it works. I asked him to return it and never heard back
Sounds exactly like the VCR scammers
I did the same for an old CED player. I put the time in to thoroughly refurbish it, including getting a new stylus. Buyer responded minutes after it was delivered to say, "We've been trying for hours and it doesn't work." I would have had to pay for return shipping (which would be 70% of the value of the item because CED players are heavy AF. I was going to say ok but they have to send back the stylus (small and light), but just gave up in anger.
Just block and move one. Not worth the time wasted with chasing after the few scammers you get when selling. Just regard it a part of business on eBay. Never open new stuff just sell it and refund if returned and forget get all about it. Never give partial refunds unless obviously your at fault. Also block anyone asking a bunch of questions about an item before purchasing. Nearly always trouble.
Truth
@@Johnnyfive9928 Yes, I have found that out. I blocked one person recently for that very reason; and the next day my camera sold for the $200I was asking. They filed for a return immediately upon receipt due to many bogus reasons, citing the same "birthday" purchase excuse the other person had used - and immediately I felt seller's remorse. I should've seen this coming.
The worst is selling new video games! I've had numerous ppl claim the game didn't work. But what they do is use the download code and send it back. I've tried the codes after they return and the game obviously works but the download code is used.
Great information from an experienced seller. It’s not fun dealing with the negative aspects of reselling returns but they happen.Appreciate you sharing your experiences, how you handle them, as well, your effort in sharing new information other resellers do not. As always great content. Thanks Wick!
As far as selling stuff used vs parts or not working, I believe if you sell something "used" on ebay, ebays guidelines indicate its in working condition whatever the product may be if it is sold in the "used" category, so if you are a buyer.. you can kind of use that as leverage against the seller if you wanted to even though you state in your listing its untested. It's kind of a gray area as people don't like to sell stuff as parts not working but the alternative is dealing with the risk of how you listed it after the sale, up to each seller how they want to do it, its all calculated risk
They all scam the same way. You send working merch and they demand a partial refund as "They never pay retail ever" and they will refuse to do a full return because it's a scam.
I just started purchasing from ebay buyers a couple years ago. Still haven't had any issues purchasing anything but I'm in touch with buyers before I buy so I make sure everything is on the up and up. I do appreciate these types of vids so I know what to look out for, thx...
Back in the 90's I bought a new VCR from a large box retailer (can't remember exactly who it was) only to find an old VCR in the box when I opened it. And they gave me a hard time when I took it back acting like I was the scammer. So that was going on a lot back then.
My ex husband was one of those kind of people back in the 90s. He would buy something and make me take the return back. Crazy thing was, he was in the head of loss prevention department of a major retailer at the time. 😮
Been reselling for around 5 years and there are definitely scams. That said, sellers often times blame scams for mistakes they make. They also don't understand that you choose the categories you sell in and some are highly profitable but also higher scam risk, that's the trade off. Most customers are just regular people and regular people are not always very intelligent or think they have more extra money than they actually do and have buyers remorse, take the return and move on to the next listing and sale
You did handle the slot cars well. For a scammer to take the trouble for a $10 refund, they would have to be a high-volume scammer. So maybe they will return it.
Pretty sure this guy was a dealer or collector. Probably does it a lot if he was trying to scam.
Oddly most of the attempted scams i have dealt with are items under $20. Feels like they are either new to it and getting their feet wet before moving up to bigger dollar items or they know that a lot of sellers will just let them keep the item and refund their money instead of dealing with the hassle and return costs
I sometimes have trouble with colors too. I think I honestly have trouble determining between certain colors. Plus sometimes our phone cameras can make the colors appear slightly unrealistic. It's annoying sometimes. I usually mention in the description that the color is for example a pinkish-red or blueish-green.
Recently I just got a micro cassette recorder sent back taken apart in pieces lmao
Thanks for the heads up Wick!!
Yup!
I have people try that same crap from time to time.
I always tell them to open a return if I feel there issue is nonsense.
Just today a customer who has had her items for nearly a month suddenly had a problem. Said items are not correct size and don’t match her dishes.
Funny considering my listing shows size and style very clearly.
hes right, if there's actually something wrong you'll return it. I ordered a working copy of a dreamcast game, and for some reason it didnt work in the 2 working dreamcasts I have at home. Asked the seller for a return, sent it back to him, told him I'd actually rather a working copy of the game if possible when they get the disc back if they didnt want to do a full refund, but the buyer just refunded me. No problems.
I bought something and the seller didn’t include two things that were in the listing. Said oh the one piece must have fell out and the other was sold in another listing. Just as many scammer sellers as buyers. Selling stuff as new when it’s not. Not tested means broken. Everyone here (sellers) is a victim apparently. It’s a crap shoot. Like sellers I eat stuff because it’s not worth me spending money even more money to ship it back and then have nothing. Been on eBay since 1997 and it used to be all protection for sellers back then. They won’t ever find a happy medium but the amount of resellers, pickers, estate sellers being shady is astounding. I stopped selling ages ago because of all the scams you guys are falling prey to. Not sure what the solution is. The good sellers I find I support and pay way more from them. Too good to be true always is. Love your videos and feel for you when you’re getting ripped off.
Also I was just listening to your new verses open box portion of the video. Another reason you can make more money on sealed box versus open box is the eBay SquareTrade warranty program. An open box warranty generally cost twice as much to the buyer as the brand new item extended warranty. This is due to the fact that eBay knows that open box items are store returns.
Great advice, even if it cost you a few dollars to get it back I'd rather have it in hand to repair or resell the item cheaper. A lot of times they hope to get some kind of refund plus keep them, I offer a full refund and I never hear another word.
The thing is there's always a threat of negative feedback when you get a complaint. eBay will let it stand unless you bendover to help the scammer. Had terrible feedback reversed into a glowing endorsement as soon as they receive a partial refund. Proof imo that it was a scam. I don't open sealed items unless they rattle or the seal looks dodgy. Been caught out with "new" lego sets.
I wonder if for the Emergency set, they had another set that was missing the first DVD so only needed that one, kept it and sent you the rest. Maybe check their listings? Also, I too would NOT open sealed products just for “peace of mind.” As you mentioned it’s 1 or 2 in 1000. Still sucks, but doesn’t happen enough to justify the difference in profit of sealed vs. open.
Thx for the heads up on scams. I have 1 yr selling on ebay and have had pain in the ass buyers...
Never been scammed, but these situations make me want to get a UV marker, so I can secretly mark items without serial numbers in case people try to return their broken items. I don't open every item; it depends on the situation. If the box is in poor condition or if they thrift store writes "new" on the box but it's obviously not new then I'll cut the tape and open it.
I have seriously thought of doing this as well.
There’s another TH-camr I watch and she uses the up marker on all of her electronics.
I actually bought a new movie at Walmart (sealed) years ago. When I opened it, there was no disk. So yeah, I think that happens, but not as often as people who are selling on Ebay.
This is why we do not sell high end items on eBay. eBay will force you to eat the cost and the feedback everytime. Then eBay takes credit for the 100% buyer protection when in reality it's the seller that actually covers the cost.
People are awfully bold when scamming and giving the person they're scamming their address. That PSA basketball scam recently would have made national news if they scammed me for $7k. I will 100% take matters on myself .
I had a buyer claiming the dvd movie stop halfway, and the item was new and sealed.
I asked to return it, and I actually played the movie, and it did stop halfway. 😅
The trouble with supposed new unopened dvd disks or anything like that is these days its easy for people to take a used dvd and reseal it like its brand new never opened.
So maybe that dvd set you sold that was missing a disk was resealed when you picked it up. You thought it was new to.
Lots of thieves in this world.
Great info, thank you. 😊
So who has had this happen ? I accidentally mixed up 2 labels and sent the wrong items to 2 people. First time I’ve done this. One was cool the other who received a Swatch watch instead of a 5.00 cookbook will not answer my messages. I only sent 2 messages. I’m S.O.L right. People are just gross.
I've had that happen a couple times. It feels bad lol
I remember back in the early 2000’s I bought a box set from a retail store that was missing a disc, they were looking at me like I was trying to rob them. That crap happens.
I quit selling on Ebay because of the scammers - anytime I seen a buyer from NJ or CA I knew it was going to be a problem - If I remember right you can set only accept buyers with a certain amount of feedback.
10:28 they just needed disk 2 for the set they already have
Why open the rest of the seasons though
No reason to open sealed items if the value is there. Make sense that the scammers would buy a sealed DVD set as you personally have no way to prove disks weren't missing, in a world where things are resealed quite often. Just keep doing what you're doing, no matter what you do you will run into people that want to take advantage of you. As a business your job is to minimize that risk but you'll never reduce it to zero.
I even had a woman photoshop incorrect shipping info trying to claim it was sent to another house!! It was a childs pair of shoes. When I looked at the tracking on the website it was delivered to her address. Scammers are tricky.
In my experience since the beginning of last year buyer fraud is up about 300% on eBay. Now of course this will vary depending on what categories you sell in.
Dude scammed you. He swapped out his used/missing ones for your new sealed ones then resold his or put it in his collection. If you don’t mark your discs so only you know then you’ll never know. So..get a safety pin and poke 3 small dots next to each other on the back of each disc case that slightly makes marks or any identifier only you realize so when you get em back you’ll know for sure if they were yours or not. It’s not like you haven’t done it before on things you’ve sold you just didn’t on those. Nowadays you gotta do it on most everything cause the crooks run deep on eBay.
....but "proving" your system to ebay would be harder, if not impossible, as they 100% side for the buyer.
I got scammed recently. I had Estee Lauder kit for auction a girl wins the auction. The scammer sent a message that she would be out of the USA & could I send it to her mother's address I said sure. Sent it out. The original buyer got on there & said it didn't arrive to her in Georgia & that she never sent the message. I did a search & the name of the scammer was in the message. Always look at the name of who is sending it. Thanks for doing this video.
I bought a "new" card game and when I opened it, it was clear it had been used. The cards were well worn and it smelled like someone's dirty house. Someone clearly just had a shrink wrapper and repacked it. So yeah... Depending on how you acquire your "new" products you should probably open them and check. There is a distinct difference between regular shrink wrap and the kind of plastic wrap used on DVDs and video games. If you're good at telling the difference maybe it's ok not to open them.
You don't have to accept a return that is not exactly what you shipped. So, the open dvds are now used and they were new when you sent them. YES report!
I sold a sealed audio book on CD. They Told me 2 discs were messing. I had those disc in a open set and sent those. They were happy and bought book 2 and 3 after I posted the 2 discs
The same thing happened to me. The buyer wanted a partial refund, and I offered a full refund when calim was opened after the item was returned. I never heard from them after that.
I think you're doing the right thing by NOT opening new/sealed items based on the price difference for sealed items. It sounds like you're making way more money by keeping them sealed compared to the cost of trying to defeat the rare scammer who would probably try and scam you a different way anyway.
By the way, it's not super uncommon for me to get "can you ship this to a corrected address" requests. I always just go ahead and do as requested for low value items and I've never been scammed. If you cancel and relist items you then need to send a link to the relisted item and hope the buyer will repurchase and change the address. Doing all that will just result in lost sales.
I collect physical media. I did have an issue with an Indiana Jones 4k steelbook set from Best Buy. I preorded it and it arrived on the release day. I opened it and one of the discs was missing. They sent me a whole new set as a replacement. I was told to keep the defective set, so I split everything up and sold off the good pieces for about the price I paid. So it’s very rare but it can happen. I could see some of the old out of buisness DVD company’s that dealt with obscure TV shows not having great quality assurance.
Last year, I had a customer purchase an item. Then message to ask if I could ship to a different address. I told him that I would cancel the order and he could reorder after he changes his address in the system. He never responded or reordered but still left me positive feedback. The item eventually sold to someone else.
yeah, I'm the same way I don't open new stuff unless I hear a rattle or something. A lot of times, new DVDs will still be new but come unstuck from the case and rattle around in the sealed package, I usually Open and click them back in place and then, unfortunately, have to sell them as used
I recently sent a partial refund to a repeat customer who had bought hundreds of dollars worth of collectible books from me over the past couple of years, so I wasn't suspicious. She had already gotten a discount on the item and then claimed it had a bad odor & was looking at a high cost to have the odor removed. I don't have the most sensitive nose, so I took her at her word. Now I'm wondering if she scammed me. In any case, the next time she pulls anything like that I won't fall for it.
My wife sold a DJI drone that I bought from Best Buy and never opened. When the customer received it they contacted her and said the batteries didn’t charge.I told her to contact them and tell the purchaser this drone had never been registered because it was unopened and contact DJI for new batteries.I had to send them the original receipt so they could have proof of purchase. We never heard from the purchaser again after that.
Guy had a loose disc and wanted to scam you, and either get the box and resell, or get a partial refund. These scammers aren’t very clever tbh.
A good way to eliminate all that is to have the buyer pay for return shipping, when you list the item
I have buyer pays return shipping, but if they claim "item not as described" you'll still have to pay for it to be returned, unfortunately.
You get the "new sealed" but missing a DVD or scratched DVD all the time on Amazon.
So many people are so worried about getting negative feedback, that they'll do the partial refund.
Def had a couple returns where the item was returned damaged and i just refunded and moved on. One was a pair of Kobe Nikes they tried on and ripped the upper fabric..I couldnt prove it. THe other one was a kooky lady that returned a doll with heavy perfume that she put on it..didnt hesitate and just refunded to not deal with her. Overall, I didnt really lose money, jsut effort and time.
The cars were definitely a scam. Most sames start with picking your description, trying to find a way to get money from you if they can find a weakness in your listing.
What are the odds the guy who bought the Emergency box set only bought it to make a free copy of the discs and then return the original?
I sold video game, like $120. On the last day he opened a return and then didn't send it back untill day 21 the last day. I send a message, did U finish the game. Didn't answer me. Cheers Graham
DVD rip off scam has people who buy your complete multi season set and send back the blank knock off DVD or poor quality damage discs for a partial refund, but I watched all of the discs and know that they are OK, one guy sent them all back with pizza grease on all of them, at least that is what it looked like, probably a gonner by now from all that cheese!!! No more DVD sales from me!!! Never found a bootleg DVD in my collection.
Won a PS5 at an arcade. Even though it was sealed, I still felt like I had to open it to make sure everything was included. It was new, so took a hit. Still waiting for someone to buy it.
I do not get alot of returns. When i do and I relist i always re-list more expensive and it always sells within a few days. Smart move
I’ve reached out to eBay regarding changing address and the person I spoke with said that we can do it as long as it is documented in messages… but what I would say, what I do, is if someone asks I Google the new address to make sure it’s a real address. I’ve never had any issues with doing this in 4 years, maybe I’m lucky though
watch when new sellers have 1 item for sale, especially if you can tell if they are out of country. Red flag is price is usually much cheaper than comps.
I am in the midst of someone returning a $200 camera because it doesn't take the newer memory cards (well, if they'd done any research on the thing they were buying, they'd know that!) AND they claim the battery door doesn't close. My pictures show it ajar a bit; but I was able to close it well and test it - but ebay is making me take it back. I did not take a picture of the darn UPC code or look for any identifying serial number - so I'm probably scammed and screwed. Also just did a return for a dictionary that was brand new in the package they are claiming immediately upon arrival that it didn't work. We'll see if they send that back.
My terms in every single listing clearly state 'I do NOT do partial refunds.' I do offer 30-day Free Returns.
Since I added that in a couple of years ago I have had maybe 1 buyer try to get a partial refund
Im a reseller on eBay as well and something similar happened to me. I sold some Bose desktop speakers and the buyer was asking if the plug was OEM and I replied yes it is. They purchased the item and as soon as they got it they changed their minds cause it made a humming sound. Did the return and when I got the item back it wasn’t working anymore. I think they bought it swapped the power plug with the one they had that wasn’t working. Hard to say but it was weird when they asked me if the power cord is the original
Yeah, the fact they asked, makes it sound fishy.
@ that’s what I tried telling eBay but my mistake was I closed it out before making sure it was working. Lesson learned. Thanks for your vids!
I do get returns on clothes as the color may see different from the pictures!!
Sold some liquid soap, double boxed it. The customer said it was leaking with pictures outside of the box. I felt it was a scam, I just refunded the order. I will not sell anything liquid again.
I bought a cheap old mobile once. It came no packaging, no card no bubblewrap and it didnt work. I expect it got twatted in the mail. The guy offered £10 on a $25 item and i accepted as i was working long hours and couldn't be really bothered with the 30 minute round trip to the post office.
For the next week i was bombared with sarcastic messages suggesting i was scamming.
I think its better all round to just return.
I recently had something I've never heard of and I'm trying to fight eBay because the buyer stated he had not received the product when tracking showed that it was still on its way.
A day or two later, the tracking indicated a delay in the shipping and the buyer is still pressing for a refund. The order is almost $80.
I decided to look up the address and found that it is a lighthouse not a residence.
I guess I'm going to have to start looking up the addresses before I ship because I cannot afford to take a hit like this.
Fyi
The dvd person could have downloaded the disks to their computer and then returned them. That was a huge scam in the 2000s also.
It's amazing how people will put in so much work to scam $10. I buy a lot of things on ebay and there are absolutely times when I buy something like a CD box set with a CD missing, a sweater that has moth holes etc. In those cases, I will contact and the seller will propose a partial refund. Sometimes I weight it out on whether or not a return is worth the effort. But I'm never fishing for a partial refund for something while keeping it. Sometimes things go wrong. I am assuming there are sellers out there that thrift show and do bulk selling. Perhaps they aren't super careful with the listing details or noticing things? Electronics are the biggest issue. "It worked the last time I used it" and "untested" are red flags for me as a buyer. I don't even bother.
If the Emergency DVD thing was a scam they probably copied them, not just watched them.
That's a possibility, but you'd think they'd just buy a used set to do that and claim a DVD didn't work instead to return them.
@ You’re right. That makes more sense. This is the reseller’s stuff that can drive us crazy if we don’t learn to write it off and move on. 😅
I’ve considered getting one of those pinhole cameras to peek inside sealed boxes 😅
I had a guy buying records from me claim one of the new double LPs was missing 1 of the records. He sent it back with only 1 disc, I just had to eat the loss. But I did block him from my store because it wasn’t the only issue I had with that buyer.
We just had a scam where we sold two items to the same person totaling $1200. Over 30 days later (after delivery) they filed a payment dispute with their bank. It’s been 8 weeks and they have been holding those funds until it’s resolved (hopefully in our favor)
What do you mean you don't understand why eBay would allow sellers to leave bad feedback? There are lots of horrible buyers out there.
I would never open a factory sealed item. Factory do make mistakes, but that is not your fault. My question is did it have a disc 2? I bought the tv series Dallas and some discs were double sided.
A lot of sellers have a boxed item listed as new unopened and when you recieve it the tape has clearly been broken and taped over (happens a lot with Transformers) I used to ask for a partial refund in these cases, but now everyone thinks I'm scamming if I even hint at a partial refund...
To your slot cars, just use a 9v battery to the leads.
Opened a sealed case. Had extra discs from other bands.
Dude, that jacket is pink.
I just had an issue with selling a NOS pair of Sears vintage PJ's in a sealed bag never opened. Buyer claimed there were hidden tares on pocket beneath the sticker. I replied "Probably due to the age of item that when you peeled the sticker off of the pocket the fabric ripped. I told him they were not hidden and the package was sealed. So I offered a partial refund due to not knowing if the dude ripped the sticker off harshly or not. He would not accept the partial and opend a case on Ebay and they made me give a full refund! :( I do not offer refunds, That is why it became an issue I guess.
I got scammed recently, totally insane and claimed the item was expired . The item returned inside the original packaging didn't have the same corresponding serial numbers. Returned nearly a month later eBay is definitely becoming more seller unfriendly 😢
If you took a photo of the sealed item, then photos after you open it. Id note it was opened to just check. I think on that cd set that was opened you can keep 15% off the sale price since it wasn't new anymore. I find if someone is just talking about wanting partial I can talk them down, if they started the return already I feel they are more serious. At that point I might try to settle over getting hit with not as described, or if you are paying the return shipping if its great than the partial seems like a wash.
Awesome video man
So what do you do when these people have all these requests and you don’t oblige then they leave you negative feedback?
I had a "can you ship to a different address" request. Went through a similar response as you did, said you need to change it within your account and I would have to cancel and they can repurchase. They said they "just changed it", and listed new address and that new address listed when at the purchase postage window. SO, I do not know if the person actually changed it after purchase or maybe changed it earlier and didn't remember. To me it does seem like the eBay system should be able to have ability for the buyer to change their address BEFORE a seller creates the label. Maybe someone can verify?
Hi Wick! I heard another utuber say that he messaged the buyer after the sale, to make sure they knew that it wasn't tested and might not work. That might help in some cases.
