When this album was released it shot to the top of the Billboard charts and stayed at #1 for a week. That means every Pantera fan in America went out and bought that album immediately, because they did it with absolutely no radio play, just the most solid fan-base any band could ask for. \,,/
I was one of 'em bro.🤘 19 when it came out. Luckily the station in Lincoln NE had the balls to play "Hollow" a lot, then "Walk", but you're right, they were not mainstream like Britney spears, lady gaga, or Taylor Swift, and we dropped our $ 14.99 on the counter & took it to number 1. I love the interview where Terry Date says : When the band got together with me to do the album, they kept repeating, it's got to be heavier than Vulgar Display of Power. (He gives a long pause and says) And I'm thinking how the hell are we gonna do that? 😁 Well, they did it

"Hail Kings, The New Kings, Stronger than all." - Pantera Strength Beyond Strength. They definitely proved they were the kings. This album went straight to #1 in Australia & America in March 1994 without any radio help.
Far Beyond Driven debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in 1994. The heaviest album, to this day, to debut at #1. They beat Bonnie Raitt and knocked Ace of Base down to #3. All without radio or very little MTV play. That is a diehard fanbase.

The Badge was added to FBD when the album re-released as Deluxe Edition. It was originally released for The Crow soundtrack. The samples used in the beginning and end of the song were from the movie Taxi Driver.

I wish we would have appreciated this band and their albums more while they were still in their prime. Nothing lasts forever. RIP Dime and Vinny
The best Pantera review I've seen. Been a fan since '93 and turned many on to their music. Love your reaction and appreciation man. I just subscribed to your channel! Excellent work!
My cousin had a BADASS home stereo system and the first time I heard this album was at his house. Slaughtered sounds and feels dope as fuck with a good system. I had never literally felt a song like that before. Headphones do not do this album justice and I highly recommend a good surround sound system to get the full experience.
Yep, first time I heard it was at a friend's house who's dad was a musician and that had expensive speakers that would make your chest compress with the bass.
Yo! I came across this reaction by chance. But damn- Far Beyond Driven, my first listen when I was 14. Changed my life. But you being open about your childhood experiences. Man, Me too. It's hard to admit to or talk about, but this aggression and this emotional outpouring that came with Far Beyond Driven. It made me take a real look at my childhood shit. That disgusting shit that happened to me. An injection of aggression didn't help me deal, but it helped me keep rolling. I appreciate you being real. And I love the whole album reaction. This album means a lot to me and it's fun to see someone experience for the first time.
