There are characters that are more straight forward. Like Raider, Gryphon, shugoki. There are others but even the most complex FH character isn’t too bad. They each have skills that are important to playing them well. IE parrying, learning timings or trading hits. If you’re just starting out I recommend picking whoever you think is cool. Any complexity will be easy enough to figure out if you enjoy the character and therefore the process of learning.
I agreee with @drummerguy438 each hero has their own quirks but imo the best way to pick is just to choose whoever you think is coolest. Most of the mechanics in the game carry over to every character so at the very least you’ll learn the basics regardless of who you pick to play first
