Wow nothing basically has changed which leaves the possibility of having an uncontrolled leak like the deep horizon's wide open. These type of bop valves are not meant to be periodically tested for proper operation. The only time they are used is when they're needed. There is also nothing isolating pressure if the Bop needs to be repaired or replaced. If the current type of blowout prevention valve needs to be repaired or replaced it cannot be removed or parts removed without causing another major uncontrolled spill. In my opinion these type of Christmas trees are meant for land use only. I'm a mechanic employed by a company subcontracted to a major oil company on Alaska's North slope oilfield in Prudhoe Bay. Currently still in 2019. I'm also the designer of the caphead that stopped the macondo wells leak. I still have the design copy I submitted in July of 2010, as well as emails from the horizon helpline. In July 2010 I watched as the underwater robotics cut bent sections of line away and left several feet sticking out of the seafloor, also had a flange inches away from the pipe end. My caphead design used locking wings that would secure the valve head onto the leaking wellhead a and chevron seals that would use pressure to seal the caphead against leaks. I neglected to file for a patent pending number and the horizon helpline personnel informed me that my design was unusable. Several weeks later I watched as my design stopped the deep horizon leak was stopped. I was slapped in the face and brushed off and neither given credit or compensated for my contribution. To verify this I stopped the horizons crew from drilling at an angle and deeper into the seafloor in an attempt to create a relief well. All they would have actually accomplished would be an inaccessible leak. Cheating me out my design didn't stop me as looking at the design bop valves and still in use todaymeans more uncontrollable spills are eminent . this means the difference between paying for better design bop valves that can be repaired and maintained are needed and basic choice is to either pay a little now or billions later in spill clean up. The deep horizon's spill clean up its at the 100 billion dollar mark and still rising. My designs will not be for free and will have patents. The design bop valves will be able to be tested and maintained without creating another massive spill. I plan on starting my own deep water repair company as well as designing and marketing upgraded valves that will ald work on older valves. The choice between creating spills that will cost billions or less for upgrades is their choice. "007".

The valves here cannot be used to test valve operation until needed. The hydraulic rams are only effective if the pipe is aligned, this also seals the well. Repairs can't be made to either use the well to keep producing or seal with cement / slurry mix. If the bent piping is corroded through or attempts to repair another spill will occur. This type of blowout prevention doesn't work and will leave the owners wondering what to do? You sure as hell aren't going to get any oil out of that well and can't abandon, unless a spill is created. There's no way of controlling pressure or isolating pressure to pull this type of bop valve off or even a way of knowing if it works. If spills occur who's going to point the finger at who? The deep horizon costs over 100 billion and still rising. But let's keep using this system cuz we're saving money for now. In today's market our nation needs to stop importing oil and natural gas as the state of Alaska alone contains enough oil and natural gas to provide affordable heating and transportation fuels for the world's market and nation for the next 500 plus years. Plus we've just stopped using Iran's fuel. Obama's illegal EPA reg are being lifted and means oil production on our oceans will increase. The likelihood of more spills occurring will increase unless better bop valves are used. That means production that will not be stopped by a used car salesman talking up this type of bop as it means trouble. There's no way of performing periodic testing or repairs. No way of isolating pressure to repair or replace an inop bop without risk of creating another deep horizon spill. Read below that I'm the designer of the caphead that stopped the macondo well leak and how my design basically stolen from me. Seeing how vulernerable these type of bop valves are used in ocean based drill platforms have better designs that wil prevent blowouts as well as keep the flow of oil going. My designs will not be free and will have patents but can honestly say that using them will not cause spills that will cost as much as deep horizon's. "007".
