I usually feel singers shouldn't be on BGT coz there's already so many Voice shows for them. But Leah Barniville is exceptional! I don't care what the results are, Imma be a fan!
A great voice for such a young age and a mature stage presence. Unfortunately Leah Barniville is singing opera against other more modern and more popular music genres of present day. This unfortunately becomes a contest partly based on which music genre is most favored.
It's so annoying that David interrupts Simon every time he tries to give constructive criticism. Like honestly, Simon doesn't interrupt him when he's spending his time telling every single act they were absolutely fantastic. The dude has been doing this for decades and is a music producer and executive...he knows his stuff. Let him make a damn comment
I think Amanda and Alesha are okay, they sometimes give out criticism and I think it's nice to have easier/stricter voices on the panel, it just annoys me how David like aggressively fights Simon on his feedback haha
But it does get annoying. Most of the time I didn't like Simon because he could be unnecessarily harsh, but this year he's either been nice or given constructive criticism, I love it. But then everytime he tries to give constructive criticism, which is a good thing like you said, the audience boos. It's very annoying, he wasn't even being mean, wtf audience.
Okay, calm down. Simon has ample opportunity to criticize. It's a panel of judges, not just him, right? David doesn't tell every act that they're fantastic. But Leah's was.
Season 1: 1st - Opera Singer Season 2: 1st - Street Dancer, 2nd - Bhangra Dancers Season 3: 1st - Street Dance Troupe, 2nd - Singer Season 4: 1st - Gymnastics Troupe, 2nd - Dance Duo Season 5: 1st - Singer, 2nd - Child Singer Season 6: 1st - Dancing Dog, 2nd - Opera Duet Season 7: 1st - Shadow Theatre, 2nd - Comedian Season 8: 1st - Classical Singers, 2nd - Opera Singer Season 9: 1st - Dancing Dog, 2nd - Magician Season 10: 1st - Magician, 2nd - Swing Singer. 8/19 of the past winner or runner ups have been singers, 4 out of 10 seasons have featured no singers in the top 2, whereas of the 8 singers/duets/groups only 3 did so singing contemporary songs, the remaining 5 sang either classical or operatic songs. I'd say the distribution is about right. If anything Opera is over-represented.
She was honestly unbelievable, an outstanding performance. I've never heard someone sing the Godfather theme. Simon was just being a butt. What good did it do to tell her the stage set wasn't good enough?

How can he say the following about Leah's performance: "bloody hell, that was fantastic", then say the staging needed to be improved and then the song choice was not right??? Like Billy Joel sang "Leave a tender moment alone...". His comments no doubt left a negative thought in the public's mind which caused her not to make the Finals.
First let me say I LOVE LEAH!!!! But Simon is right...she has a beautiful angelic face, but this song was so serious and her brow furrowed did not present her in her best light. I think she will be the next Sarah Brightman...i think David Foster should take her under his wing and make her the international star she should be.
