To be fair, the King's somewhat of a vegetative husk by now- his mind is long gone, and now inhabits the homunculus that keeps trying to stab him. It's not really a contradiction or paradox to kill his former body, as he no longer occupies it- it's simply a shell he left behind at this point.

I'm surprised by how few have seen the true ending and the other ending after that. I'd expect it would be everywhere. this theory gets completely confirmed in the "true true ending."
Beheaded was create because tried to bring Queen alive. However Beheaded was mute but Queen was able to talking. High Peak Castle. You could find the huge of painting wedding picture but the room was super messy. As you can notice at end of room the weapon on the wall were missing. It was Queen hers guardian was took it because it was obviously exactly like that! So I knew the room was destroy by Queen because of she was so pissing of being beheaded. Later on she gone to light house some reason. Fatal of the Fall At Undying Shore you can find full of body in the tube and some of them were empty knowing as escape or what. You can see at the wall fill with paper on the wall. Drawing a flame head or something that what they tried to experiment. Another one you can find three dead body in the room and one of them have tear crosses over body and before the door you can see the symbol on the wall. Three line down and one line across the three line. So which is it was definitely Queen because hers face was exactly same like it! Bad Seeds. You see there are many mushroom creature are everywhere, as you can find the lab room from starting prison. You only chance to find it you can see the mushroom powder was chopping on the table with coins in the draw you can loots it. Maybe it was failed cure to someone then turning into mushroom creature. Again as you can see the background there are light house there. Spoiler! If you haven't beated Queen! ⬇️. ⬇️ When you beat the Queen. Cutscenes appear up. Beheaded show no mercy to Queen before Queen was slain. As beheaded see the sunrise before the huge ship come forward. Beheaded wave it after realised the ship was fill with monsters. That ship is where you can find from Fatal and the Fall in Undying Shore. What did Beheaded said about it, many monster was tried to escape this island which is why everyone want to leave that island because of infection and experiment! The zombie was first failed experiment after other monster was invented by keeping failing. Like Failed Experiment, Failed Homunculus, Rampage possibly.
It's such a good thematic idea. The humunculus/the beheaded is probably a representation of the good side of the king. Deep down he hated what he had to do to "save" the people, and he hated himself for it. He probably felt like he failed the kingdom, and the humunculus is just him trying to fix what happened: even if he doesn't know it.
What if the king if the reincarnation of the king who failed to protect his people and has to get it done to stop the malaise from spreading more and more but he forgot almost all his memory but he know his job is to destroy everything that has been infected and kill himself (the king) and anyone else who try to get on his way (and has different personality) Edit : Lmao i predict it before watching it

The malaise is the final evolution of corona.
