I remember that ride as a kid and the old tractor engine running it had a straight pipe. The operator would get it going and when he backed off the gas, it was back fire. Like the guy before my post said, it is the engine that makes the ride. Old school and not some electric crap with NO noise. What a great ride.
I soo remember this ride from the 70's!!! Someone actually brought a dog on it one time!!! Remember...70's was a bit different, not like now when safety is such a huge concern. We called this ride the bullets for some reason though back then. Great memories..:-))
An engine?!?! That's nuts! No wonder why it goes so fast. I normally see these things with a small motor on it near the top. This is the first time I seen one with an engine on it.
Oh yeah, i've been on one Loop-o-Plane before. A local carnival down near Fayetteville, NC had one at a small Fair 2 years ago. I lucked up & got to ride it which was awesome and it has some MAJOR G-Force! ...versus the larger Kamikaze. To the kid wearing glasses, if you buy a strap that attaches to your glasses & goes around the back of your head, your glasses will be secure. I wear glasses myself and on any ride, i wear my straps. Even at the beach while skimboarding..don't take no chances..
The reason you don't see this ride anymore like the Double Ferris Wheel, they can turn over enough riders per hour like the new rides that hold 40 people at one time.
I've seen people get on this ride without watching first to see what it does - er, hello? Once they at last realise that it's going right over, they beg to be let off but, nope, completing the full ride seems to be compulsory. It's a great spectator experience, is that!
Bro imagine a sky master motor swapped loop o plane? Now that would be overpowered!!!! Hell it still kinda sounds like a sky master if you listen closely.
it doesn't look that bad from outside.but from inside its so scary grown man...thought was gonna die..safety bar kep clicking in and out very un nervering..alot of oh my fawk oh my fawk

Riding a Gas powered Loop-O-Plane beats a Kamikaze any day. The engine sound makes the ride. Old School Thrill Rides rock!
Kamikaze ride is better and bigger than the loop o plane ride.

Bro someone deadass brought their pooch? That’s very brave
You are right. The bullet with the gas tractor engine.
we called it Salt and pepper shaker
May I use this footage in a video about these rides? I will credit you!
It’s speedy when it’s swings.
There is just something about the loud engine that makes a Loop-O-Plane a stellar ride. The electric ones are missing that brute-strength thunder.
Loop O Plane, Spider, Gravitron, Ferris Wheel were all 5 tickets, the main attraction was the Zipper for 7 tickets at our annual fairs, funtimes

All the carnival rides had a six-cylinder motor on them before everything was converted over to electrical
I remember this ride and the state fair in Maryland back in the 80s
The tractor motor rides are hard to find as most are electric. This is great.

I'd be scared as fuck !!
I remember the kamikaze prototypes were gas powered cause my dad used to work for chance rides.
I have this same ride at my church festival
Gas powered is the only way to ride a loop o plane! My face used to flatten from the g’s
the best operator were the ones that could get it to stop at the top on a dime
What if he held the trottle
skymaster??
😄😄😄

The gas powered ones run faster than the electric version.
