    Hey Anne Marie. I just want you to know that I find all of your cold-process soap tutorials very much educational. I'm a 11 year old whom makes soaps and I'm getting my certification on lye soaps. I have my own store already because of you, so thank you so very much. You're an inspiration everywhere.

    I know you have a newer, easier recipe, but I like THIS more step-intensive soap frosting. I have not had great luck with just using my regular Cold Process soap batter at a thickness that is "kind of" like frosting. (Soft and droopy peaks.) THIS recipe and process yields a LOT of bright white soap frosting that is beautiful on any soap cupcake or bar. I'm glad I tried it and will keep using it. Stong, crisp peaks. Not hard to do and whips beautifully and makes a lot. I do use a stand mixer rather than a handheld for ease in the 7 min whipping. Thanks again for all your great videos and for sharing your knowledge.

    Hi Sherry Buras!
    Technically, it is not possible to make soap without lye. Soap, by definition, is the result of a chemical reaction between some kind of oil and lye. That reaction is called saponification. While lye is used to make soap, it's not in the final bars. That's because it's used up during the saponification process. Read more about that here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/cold-process-soap/wheres-the-lye-2/
    If you don't feel comfortable using lye, you can make melt and pour soap! It has already turned into soap, so you're not handling lye. =)

    Hi Ann-Marie,
    I'm curious. If heat is a problem for the icing to form and keep. Does that mean the soap does not go through the gel process but rather it is placed in the refrigerator for 24 hours? I tried to make an icing, and after watching your video I realized why it was a disaster. I completely missed the cooling stage. Thank You for your instruction. Shirley

    I have made this recipe twice and I was wondering if the frosting can be regular cp process instead of putting it in the frig. It's so hot here the frosting melts before I can even get it on the cupcakes LOL. I have even tried putting it in a ice bath as I blend the frosting and by the time I get it in the frosting bag it is melting.

    Hi Marie, your soap is really beautiful ❤. I hope I can make a beautiful soap too because when I tried to make it, my soap froze really quickly after I added the fragnance oil so I couldn't pour it into the mold or form it at all. First, I mixed the oil with lye (I used coconut oil, palm oil and sunflower oil) and then I added the color powder and mix it until light tace. Last I added the fragnance and suddenly my soap just frozen. Was it right or wrong step? I hope you can give an explanation or tips about this case. Thank you (sorry for my bad english) 😊

    I never do this method because my mom doesn't allow me to use fridge. So I let my soap to heavy trace and wait until it's very thick.
    I make a little ball (cold process) with watermelon spoon. It's not perfect but it's safe! ;)

    HI Anne Marie, This maybe a stupid question but do you suggest having a separate mixer, measuring bowls, utensils, ect just for making soap? I'm assuming you can't just put them in the dishwasher and then use them in your kitchen again?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +jmw1386 That's a great question!
      I recommend having separate utensils for soaping and other handmade products. Even with the best washing, lye and fragrance oil can sometimes get caught in micro cracks or scratches on the equipment. That means you could accidentally ingest those ingredients. To be on the safe side, I would recommend having dedicated soaping equipment. =)
      Also, hand washing is best when it comes to soaping tools. Dishwashing detergent + leftover soap equals way too many bubbles for your dishwasher! Learn more about cleaning up here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/tips-and-tricks/clean-soapy-session/

    Great! I love this video. Gave me some info I needed. I always wondered how much time can be utilized between finishing the regular cp soap and then to add the whipped soap. What's the safe time lapse? I think on this video it was around 17 minutes to finish the whipped soap before adding to the cp. Am I correct?

      @bramble-berry  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Angella Clarke So glad you love the video! Thank you for watching. =)
      I would recommend topping the base with the frosting within a couple of hours. We typically make the base, then make the frosting and top it right away. We've also topped the base with the frosting the next day. It seemed to stick pretty well! But, just to be on the safe side, I would recommend topping the base as soon as possible.

    Thank you for this video Ann Marie, I´d like to know if it is possible to make the cupcakes and the frosting in different days, would they stick to each other?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not entirely sure! We typically make the frosting right after the cupcakes. I'm not sure how well they would stick if they're made different days. I would recommend making a small test cupcake to see if the frosting sticks well. If it does, you can make a full batch. =)

    Is it possible to make these with something else other than lye? I've watched the first two episodes as instructed, but have not yet made any soap. The thought of using lye is kind of scary, even though you make it look like a breeze. (I miss Washington weather... moved to Illinois from Tacoma.)

    • @sandraand6690
      @sandraand6690 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sherry Buras Trust me, it's not as scary as it looks. I felt that way when I did my first batch and it was fascinating the first go round. If I can do it so can you. ;o) Just make sure you use protection gear. However, you can always use Melt and Pour.

      @bramble-berry  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sherry Buras Hi Sherry!
      You may like melt and pour soap! Because it has already turned into soap, you're not handling lye. Learn how to make melt and pour in this five-part video series: th-cam.com/video/c5ouJZfluMY/w-d-xo.html

      Lye is a highly corrosive substance that can hurt your skin and can irritate your lungs if inhaled, so if you want to try out soapmaking, we recommend you start off working with a trusted adult and always put on all the proper safety equipment. Please check out this video we made a few years ago that talks about lye safety: th-cam.com/video/yR6ttCSrLJI/w-d-xo.html
