- The final destination of my trip to the Maldives was the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, a luxury resort and the oldest establishment belonging to the Hilton portfolio in the Maldives.
Expectations were high - find out if the hotel was able to meet or even exceed them.

My expectations were high and I think justified for a Conrad hotel. I would find it unbelievable to put guests in a room of this state anywhere.

Am at conrad rangali now! Stayed in 3 room types + it's a paradise location indeed. While there were minor issues with the room, we were lucky that it was not like yours. Btw - it never felt crowded at all

We had the same type of villa for 10 days at Rangali a few years back. All the overwater villas were taken...The Manta rays were the most wonderful sight at night. It's really a fabulous island. Looks like some villas are needing a refurb ( esp for the money since it wasn't cheap ).
I think a rebuild of the entire hotel buildings is due. The Hilton Amingiri looks and feels more like a Conrad than the actual Conrad.
Considering how expensive it is to stay there - it wouldn't hit their bottom line too much. I know I stayed there a few years back for 2 weeks, and our extras bill was frightening ( good job my Mum was paying! ).
How did you film the bioluminescence? Camera? Settings? It looked amazing.

I used my Canon R5 for this. Put it in 24fps video mode with a shutter of 1/4 to 1/5 and bumped up the ISO. However, I should have used a more narrow aperture - I think it was f3.2 or f4.0 - to have some more depth of field.
That being said I had some good results with just my iPhone too!
Me and my husband almost stayed here in February but we changed to Amingiri last minute and we’re not dissapointed. Maldives was an absolute dream

Bravo, your as good as the guy you copied, which is a complement because it takes alot of work and patience to learn how to hold and move the camera at the right speed, and keep yourself out of the picture except for one short sneek, and also have enough taste to choose the right music. Most of the other copyists screw it up. So bravo!
Observation:
@ 7:37 - The walls shown have been repaired several times. The close up makes it easy to see the repairs over repairs.
I'm curious, was the breakfast juice watered down? You know, to be penny pinching and spread out further? I see that in America now that immigrants are buying hotels.

The juice at breakfast was always delicious. You can choose the fruit yourself and they squeeze it freshly to your liking
I prefer over the water villas compared to a beach bungalow.

Since you apparently visited all Hilton hotels in the Maldives: which one did you prefer when it comes to Conrad vs. the new Hilton Amingiri?
Definitely the Hilton Amingiri. This hotel is a true gem in the Maldives. Hotel looks and feels more like a Conrad than the actual Conrad. Service was amazing, heart-warming and foresightful - without being pushing. If you are looking for top notch service, great rooms and a relaxing, calm & quiet stay with the occasional snorkelling, the Hilton would be your choice.
The Conrad Rangali to me is the wrong hotel in the right location. Service was a disappointment (of course, there were exceptions), nowhere near on a par with the staff at the Hilton Amingiri. And as you can see in my video, if you are unlucky you are put in a run-down room at first. Some beaches are nice, some are not. The hotel is bustling. No much private space and it does not feel as exclusive as the Hilton. Lots of families. If you prefer action, want to have nature at its best (manta rays, plankton), then the Conrad may be the better choice.

Regarding marine life, there are dedicated parts of my videos on both the Conrad and the Hilton.
At the Hilton you can snorkel with sharks, rays and turtles, which is cool. At the Conrad you are in the best spot for marine life (manta rays, bioluminescent plankton at night, whale sharks close by). There is no beautiful riff at either of the two islands, however.

Check cost on Google, breakfast is mostly included, not sure about other meals
Accomodation cost varies depending on season and occupancy. Sea plane transfer is around 600 USD
For the money that they charge to be there, I would give this room a No!❤😊

I hope you were moved to a new room. The condition of the room they gave you would be unacceptable to anyone, especially considering the amount they charge for accommodations.
Management needs to make sure customers never get accommodations like this again and training in upscale customer service should be given to ALL staff.

@@mizzmiami3242 I would describe it as relaxed entertainment. DJ / live music by the pool in the early evening. There is a screen (video wall) next to the pool, too.
That room is dreadful. Does not take much time and effort to correct it, not a difficult job with plastering, pointing and painting, plus a clean down. However that might mean flying out someone so more cost than say at home.
Quite shocked actually, it is worse than the sort of thing you get at a cheap travel lodge type place and not something that costs a lot per night.

Why would they give you a room that looks like that. That’s too much money to spend for that. I would be like I’ll take a water bungalow and Thank you very much❤️
I hope it was a mistake and they do not offer this particular room to someone else before refurbishment

If I understand correctly, the first room was allegedly refurbished in 2018. The one I got on the second day was refurbished in 2021.

What are you complaining about? Who cares.
I suppose if you stay at a hostel or Motel 6 you're used to rooms that are beat up and in disrepair. For the caliber of this hotel brand, a Conrad should not have issues like this.
