Thanks for mentioning the oil-free option. I watch so many vegan videos and don't subscribe once I see that recipes are loaded with oil. But hearing you say we can leave the oil out tells me it won't adversely affect the flavour of the dish. Thanks for taking your time to make the video. Gotta make this!
My first visit to your channel. I JUST MADE IT! Smashingly fabulous. Thankyou! (my husband has a thing, he always adds pineapple to take out, so I did add it for him.) Other than his wacked addition it was your recipe all the way! Thank you. I realize my first visit how rude it is for ME to leave advice...forgive me. Here goes, when I press firm tofu, instead of leaving it in the block form, I cut it into the slice you eventually do, BEFORE I press. That way when I press it I get out ALL the moisture quicker deep from the inside and more efficiently. The only caveat is un-pressed it is a fuller block. So it is easy to end up after pressing with 1/2 as thick cubes. So be mindful of the geometry. (yes Mr. Jones, my High School teacher you were right, geometry will be important in my future. If only you said tofu would be involved I would have recognized the connection). Then I Pile all my cast iron on top and in no time my Tofu is ready to cook. ~ Be well all.
I really like the layout of your vids. You’ve simplified the recipes and method of cooking . It’s easy to follow. Also those who are new cooks won’t be daunted by your recipes . I personally don’t like Tamari . It has a strange aftertaste and for me it feels odd on the tongue . So, I use GF soya sauce from Tesco’s .
Thank you so much :) yeah I myself get intimidated by large over the top recipes, so I like to make sure mine are simple and easy to follow. Oh nice:) yeah, luckily there are so many GF soya sauce options out there :)
@@TheSoulfulCook My pleasure ! Your format is great too . The way you’ve laid it all out . I think you’re being modest , I can’t imagine any recipes intimidating you as you’re a very good cook . I’m in London UK , so there’s only one brand and supermarket where I can get GF soy sauce . London’s getting better for GF products. We can’t get GF flan cases etc , I presume you’re in Canada or US ?
Unfortunately the sauce ended up being super salty for me (and also a bit sour?) :( I’m not sure what happened since I followed the measurements from your recipe. Did you use one or two packs of tofu?
Hi there, so sorry it didn’t turn out the way you hoped. It could be a couple of things - did you use Tamari or regular soy sauce? Also, did you add any additional salt?

Of course :) you can make anything without oil and it will still taste great!

For me it was the rice vinegar, the recipe should call for like at LEAST half the measurements it says …
Is the sesame oil toasted?
Hi Trixie, no it’s not.
@@TheSoulfulCook Ok, making it tonight!
