    This was the best and most beautiful bread I ever baked, i mixed spelt and plain flours, added kalamata olives and 50ml olive oil, this will be my go to bread recipe for sure ❤

    Looks fantastic thank you! We are cypriots, and my mum used to use dried mint and onion with the olives. Im loving the ideas of feta cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Houmous will go great

    First off..... I’m an experienced cook, but not a bread baker. I leave the bread baking to my husband. However, after viewing this video, I told myself “Dimitra makes this look so easy”........I just had to try it. Turned out PERFECTLY! I even impressed my husband with its lovely tender crumb, excellent uniformity , and crispy crust on the outside! Thanks Dimitra for another winner of a recipe! Since subscribing only a couple of weeks ago, I have turned out FANTASTIC recipes one after the other! Really excellent recipe development that any cook can follow AND SUCCEED!

    I made this today and it came out just like in the video. Stacking the layers with olives topping was very difficult . Next time I will add the olives after I layer the dough. Thank you!

    That looks phenomenal! (Why am I surprised =-) I was think of trying this in a bread maker but after seeing the crunchy crust it wouldn't do it justice.. This will be my next loaf. I mix olives, cream cheese a bit of sour cream and some spices on occasion for a spread.

    I love this bread, but I am having some difficulty preventing the olives from separating the layers. I wonder if I should chop to olives finer, if I should add less or more olive oil, if I should press the layers of dough together, etc.

    Thank you for a delicious sounding recipe I would be afraid of cracking a hot cast iron skillet by pouring cold water into it.
    I use a cheap pie tin with hot water in it, that I allow to heat up with the oven.

    Looks wonderful but I SURE WISH, chefs would advise us, if we can’t afford a $300 Kitchen-Aid mixer, how long we’d need to knead the dough. (Even tho’ it’s a bicep builder, it’s the old fashioned way our European Grannies made 🥖 🥯 🍞)

    I just made this bread and followed your video step by step……the bread tasted great but I found that all the olives are around the edge of the loaf, hardly any olives in the middle, why?
    Is there a special way to fold the dough after u put the four layers together? I did follow the same way you did in the video.
    Thanks

    What does the water on the bread do? Also why ice water in the oven? Can I bake this in a Dutch oven with lid on? Or it has to be open

    • @OrlaQuirk
      @OrlaQuirk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Water on the loaf is to help make a great crust. So is the ice water in the hot iron pan. But I would NEVER put cold water on a 500 degree iron pan. I use hot water in a cheap aluminum pie tin, and allow it to heat up on the bottom rack as the oven preheats. I use a spray bottle of distilled water to spray into the oven when I put the bread in. The steam from the water in the pie tin, and from the spray and the coating on the loaf, will make a wonderful crust. This is how you would bake a French baguette.

    Sorry, but I would never put any food to rice in the dryer. 😊
    Put the light on in your oven and the breads will rise tremendously fantasticly amazing. Try it. I make my bread every week and it turns out delicious.
