This has performed exactly as desired th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 . Basically, instant hot water instead of waiting up to two minutes as it was before. I have had this installed almost exactly one year now and just replaced the anode which is pictured. I pulled it out at six months and cleaned the heating element and removed debris. I would recommend a cleaning every six months and an anode replacement yearly. A mild citric acid and water solution soak really helps clean the heating element and tank. It must be fully disassembled to do the cleaning and that is not difficult but could have been made easier with a couple of design changes but no big deal.

phil hems no all that does is move water around, there’s a few ways to do it, one you can add some hardy fish like guppies or some tetras to the tank, some will probably die and they’ll be extremely uncomfortable but it is a way to do it. Another way is to just add some fish food to an empty tank everyday and as the fish food decomposes it will release that necessary ammonia. Thirdly, you can actually buy pure ammonia and add a few drops everyday to your tank, just make sure you purchase ammonia without any harmful additives. These three ways will create a natural cycle that’s healthy and sustainable, while buying bacteria causes an unnatural and unsustainable cycle that can eventually kill your fish if the cycle is out of sync or broken. Unfortunately the natural way to do it takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks which is why many new people just buy the bacteria because they can’t wait.
phil hems yeah you could do a decent pinch your first time, there’s no real exact measurement but I’d recommend adding the equivalent of food you’d put in there for your fish just don’t over do it. You’ll ideally want a test kit to test for the presence of ammonia and when it appears you’ll know the cycle has started. You’ll still want to add food to feed the now forming bacteria but don’t add more then you did your first time. I’d recommend giving petfishclub.com/fishless-cycling-fish-food/ a read and it gives better instructions then what I could. Hope it helps.

Unfortunately the natural way to do it takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks which is why many new people just buy the bacteria because they can’t wait.
@@fakenews2584 Thanks, I'll go natural. It's a 15 gallon tank so just a small pinch of food a day?
phil hems yeah you could do a decent pinch your first time, there’s no real exact measurement but I’d recommend adding the equivalent of food you’d put in there for your fish just don’t over do it.
@@fakenews2584 Ok, thanks for taking the time to help. I had a fish tank as a kid and we literally filled it with water a threw fish in lol It seems to have got a lot more complicated
Holy shit the fish living better then me
What about the pump?
What about co2
Lauren Mcintyre I'd smash I'll use my tetra condoms.
Now add the plant fertilizer and put in the starter... me:...what’s plant fertilizer?
If you are keeping live plants then you should add plant fertilizer for nourishment for plants
