The synthesizer did a lot of work in this composition, it set the right mood, very emotional. Obviously one of the best works at the beginning of this year!
It is not new. The latest work of Dark Tranquility does these synth passages as good if not even better. But the song overall makes me believe in music again. Well done.
So here's what I've understood from the music video so far: guy and girl meet, they are so madly in love that they try for a baby and she becomes pregnant, but she suffers a miscarriage, which causes her to spiral so deep into depression that she starts smoking and taking drugs. The guy is so overcome by grief that he burns the piano which was the one thing that truly brought them together, he then decides to end himself by driving his car into a lake, but he probably realised that this is not what he truly wanted to do, and he now is on the road to healing and recovery.
Also the whole drive-in movie theatre is his life flashing in his last moments as he thinks hes dying before he saves himself. Also at the beginning and the end I think its his mother, who knows what hes going through
Every band ever has a melodramatic softer song with supposedly deep meaning, offset with boring song structures, overly cloying emotionality, and a video that's almost necessary for a song to carry any real weight. They're not always, but this isn't the world breaking banger you seem to think it is. It's basically their Donna, if Donna was manufactured specifically to elicit emotion, knowing WSS doesn't really have a lot of depth to their music anymore.
@@nolankuffner3573 so making emotional music it's already patented according to you? Besides, do you really want the lyrics to be a 1:1 narration of what's happening during the videoclip?
@@nolankuffner3573well, tbh, every concept out there rn can be classified as "nothing new", and this applies for every band and genre. The beautiful about music is that you can listen to the same heartbreaking story 1000 times and each one is gonna be different depending on the words of every composer. If you prefer the instrumental part and wants to listen something different, I recommend you to create music, because even the blend of genres is already out there, the sounds are sounds that we already knew, the instruments aren't new, so... Meh xd But if you like lyrics, I recommend you to listen every word, understand what makes you feel and enjoy, because if you split a song into its basic form, you're not gonna fond nothing new unless you create it. That's why music theory exists haha, is basically saying every drama story is the same because its always the problem, climax and solution 🥴
@@nolankuffner3573 Yeah, it really is as good as people think it is. You are not wrong in how you feel about the song but you do not have the right to downplay how someone else feels about it.
The intro lead was one on Sean's Instagram account, so it was sick hearing the track they actually included it into. He uses two whammy DT pedals for it too. It's a wild video to watch and not to mention this music video as well is seriously amazing. There is a beauty in the sadness of this one and I agree that with the song being amplified by the music video in the end it really was a "tearjerker."
I love how WSS do not repeat themselves (if they do in some songs, I do apologise as they’re one of my favourite bands). This song might not be their no1 banger but is so beautiful. I feel sad but when the solo hits, man it’s like the clouds were removed from the sky completely
They have repeated themselves on the rare occasion but it's often for good reason. Seven Hills and Love At War use the same main riff but they tie together.
I appreciate the song and the music video ❤ and it’s a first listening to this band . thank u for the discovery again ( how many bands I actually discovered and loved when watching to your Channel ? ) really, you’re doing a great job 👏
all 4 of the songs they released are 10s for me. they have started the year very fucking strong. ill be keeping an eye out for any tours they do in AUS this year for sure
Impossible to not give this song a 10 cause I connected to the music and the video so much. It just rings so well and sounds so right regards the maner it's describing the topic. Obviously I cried Tearjerker
Those persons saying 5.5 and "6/10 not terrible" are that kind of 12yo kids who just jumped into metal and thinks only Slipknot is heavy and everything else is trash
TearJERKER!! This one hit home for me. Could've been my future. I avoided it. "We're all high as the gods, and as low as the demons, but she's alone" is one of the most powerful lyric pieces I've heard in a while.
I think the video is not just about losing your partner to overdose. They were having a baby and somehow she had a miscarriage. That led down to a path of drugs and other addictions. And she eventually succumbs to her own puke while he sleeps (kinda like Jesse girlfriend did during Breaking Bad). This also makes him miserable to the point of actually trying to take his own life by driving to the river and trying to drown there. During these moments, all the moments together with Jenny (which i assume from the CD which says Jenny's Mix) flash pass him and he makes a last second decision to live. He gets home, takes off his clothes and hugs what I'm assuming is his mother. To me it feels like the video speaks to how ephemeral life is and everything can change very quickly. And when bad things happen, you should not blame yourself and punish yourself but keep going. I really like the song but the video is one of the best music videos of the past couple years. How it was shot, the composition of colours, the acting and the story shown is small images is just outstanding.
I've watched this video 15 fucking times in a row. It's an identical fucking documentary of my life. Everybody in that live chat must have the worst taste of all time. This is a 121412423412341234/10.
The videos ending blew me away... After a loved one or a love being lost... The only way to heal is love again... Like someone just loving you and holding you, comfortingly just being there and being strong so you don't have to be...allowing you to feel the pain and helplessness without sinking into Hell.
This is the best singel from Self Hell this far in my opinion, super different from anything they done this far. I can't wait for the album and hope for more different stuff.
I have loved while she sleeps for forever. I tried buying a CD from them at warped and they ran out. that was so long ago now. I always liked the more hardcore edge to them, and they are excellent at their craft in metalcore.
Love the reaction. I am a huge WSS fan, but I find myself in a similar situation with their music. Maybe it isn't hooky enough? I havent put my finger on it. Sean's leads do constantly replay in my head though and that's the main reason why I relisten. This one has been in my head for days since I heard it. I could listen to him play for hours.
I always have a soft spot for WSS but there is something about this song that i absolutely love, i think especially paired with the video. Miscarriage and turning to drugs, the OD and all the mental health aspects makes its a real TEARJERKER. It’s a 9/10 for me, I’ve had it on repeat all day!
I found this song ok. I might actually listen to it. I haven’t felt anything from a while she sleeps song since their first album and our courage our cancer
Tearjerker definitely, it was a little hard to follow the story because they go back and forth with the timeline multiple times in short succession. But grief is like that sometimes and I wonder if that was what they were going for. Good song, great video overall though.
This song is different but still feels like While She Sleeps. I’m actually interested in checking out their new album now because of this song after the first two singles were kinda meh.
Easily the best WSS song. A lot of their music was just a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me but this definitely means I have to go back and listen much more critically.
I respect that you and others have strong opinions about their videos. For me, I think thier visuals are distracting if you really want to listen to the intricate details of what they're writing. The last thing that I want is a tearjerker. If the track is going beastmode, I want to headbang while driving my truck down the road. Sorry but not sorry.
Been having this song on repeat. Only serious complaint is the lyrics are pretty garbage. No part of this song should have the line “try not to wake the neighbors now.” Sucks because the videos so good but I just couldn’t help like feeling the vocalist had no idea what the song was going for 💀
The main riff is gonna be one of the best riffs of this year for sure

My wife and I had our 2nd miscarriage a few days ago. What timing for a track like this
Also that the girl seems to die from an OD in between and that's why he tries to drown himself because it was a double loss that was hard to bear
But who’s the lady hugging him at the end is he pretending it’s her ?🥲
@@a._.jayden3691 No, in the making of video it showed that it was his mom.

How are people calling WSS generic? If something they are one of the freshest bands out there 10/10

Bro Sean's tone is other worldly this track being a show case of it is incredible
This is easily my fave wss song, the riff, the chorus, the flow. Banger!
The guitar really stood out. Amazing video.

That riff just hits the right spot…
been waiting for this one!! much love
Was waiting for this reaction. Tearjerker
The riff is really so unique
One of the best riffs everrrrr so addicting

Tearjerker

Erra vibes with the lead guitar and wall-of-sound production
If a song can touch my heart and soul its a 10. And yes, this is a 10.
This solo alone steals it for me. So simple like good old Slash for GNR! Crazy good Song!
TearJERKER!!

Honestly one of my favortie songs rn, i cant get enough!
Super excited for the album next month!
They directed the video themselves too from what i heard, definitely a 8.7/10 for me one of my favorites off this cycle so far
I keep coming back to this song. As for the video they had an actual mythbuster help produce it so-
This is devastating 😭
The song is pretty good but the message and this VIDEO!! Oh my gosh. Insane.
Generic are you made Sean's guitar work is absolutely amazing his leads are awesome
Watched this clip 3 times and cried all of them.
My theory is a person's number out of 10 is a reflection of their amount of life experience. It's an 11 for me.
Being through active addiction and losing a loved one to it certainly makes it hit different.

Ahhh. Great MV hate seeing the sorrowful couple videos, gets me every time.
You could hear early days funeral for a friend in that song for sure, I dig it though.
Intro kinda reminds me of Hospital for Souls

Tearjerker maxed out. I was not expecting this at all.
This song is HEAVY. In a different way.
Tearjerker. :P On a more serious note this song reduced manages to consistently reduce me to a puddle. 🧡💛🧡
Their best song BY FAR imo
I found this song ok. I might actually listen to it. I haven’t felt anything from a while she sleeps song since their first album and our courage our cancer
riff was badass, vocals were badass, song was badass 🔥
Tearjerker 🖤
The song structure the way it builds and resolves kind of reminds me of Tears Don't Fall
Tearjerker for sure
finally dude 🙌
Getting some tame Impala vibes in the background for sure

Didn’t enjoy their first two new singles but had this one on repeat.
Wss always played over and over because their music always somewhat chaotic catchy
In terms of theming its very similar to the Pain Remains trilogy by Lorna Shore
Tearjerker!
Great video. Great band. You should react to the new Neon Empire song To Our Memories 🔥⚒️
Ambleside- Wash Away
With the video 9.5/10. Without the video 7.5/10.
ERRA - Blue Reverie plzzz
The non-linear nature of the video story and the perforce linearity of the music mean I want to hear the music without the images.
I love this song, but the production on the rhythm guitars honestly lets it down, it’s quite fatiguing on the ears purely from a Production standpoint
I respect that you and others have strong opinions about their videos.
For me, I think thier visuals are distracting if you really want to listen to the intricate details of what they're writing.

going through it right now so this is hard to watch.

challenge for all ! Find a better (Sadder) video than this. I gave up already
The intro riff is dope, but the rest of the song is pretty mid
слабая песня по музыке от такой многообещащей й7группы
I’m just not into this… very bland, the OD thing has been done before and played out…… I’m not hating it’s just my opinion.
Tearjerker 🥲 but actually though. The video hits hard when you're going through grief as it is. The song was super decent, v unique.
