Xbox 360 with Red Ring of Death

- In this video, I'm going to try and repair an Xbox 360 with red ring of death that I got from ebay
I did some research on the console and what to check and look for
1) Check the power supply and make sure that you have plugged into the console properly
2) Make sure the power pack is working when it's all plug in, and when you turn on the console the light on the power pack will turns green if it turns orange or red that's not a good and try anther power pack ( it might be the power pack that is faulty
3) Unplug all the cables to the console then reinsert them and then reboot the console
4) Allow the console to cool down especially after prolonged use and try again
5) Try removing the Xbox hard drive and turn the Xbox back on if there is no error turn the console off then reattach the hard drive and then restart the Xbox
6) What I did was heat the board up for several minutes on both sides then apply flux around the GPU and the CPU then apply more heat to the board again for 5 minutes around the GPU and CPU then let the board cool down for one hour then clean with alcohol 99.9% then add the thermal compound to the GPU & CPU before putting the console back together

Thermal compound ( MX-4 recommend )

This is only a temporary fix, it’ll RROD again. The GPU needs replaced entirely

What if the gpu is fine?? I have heard that solder ball can be the problem in 2005-07 models!!
@@saadtunio709 no, I bet it’s the GPU underfill. That’s usually always the problem especially if it’s 0102
I can confirm this, only a falcon is still alive to this day after a reflow, the rest of the 360s that i had died, now i'm trying to bring back to life a console with the blades dashboard, wish me luck

I also did the heat gun method back in the day. It will work for a while then fail again, I can guarantee that! The only way to properly fix this is to re-ball the CPU and GPU with a higher quality solder.
You're right there. l just wanted to see if l could get it running again. l will come back to this and do try and do it properly, im just not 100% with my soldering skills yet, but l give it ago, fingers crossed 🤞
re-ball same result! CPU doesn't need to be touched, but GPU has a bad Underfill and needs replacement
1: Capacitors has exploded. 2: Reball both of chips.

I wish you would able to fix my Xbox 360 Fat lol. Mine will only read games when horizontal and sometimes the disc tray comes out and sometimes not. It’s really dusty from the inside since mine was manufactured in 2007 and sometimes it will turn off out of nowhere and sometimes not

Yeah, l will be coming back to this xbox one because it has stopped working, and secondly my skill and confidence are a lot better now with practice as time as gone on and thank for watching it's much appreciated 😃
So, those capacitors with the dried electrolyte volcano's on top? Not worth changing them?

You're not the only one to see those caps and cringe. Any leaking or bulging electrolytic cap means you need to replace ALL electrolytic caps!

After watching these vids from as far back as thirteen years you would think there would be one that showed the correct way to fix these monstrosities. Heating up the board oh yea.
I will be coming back to this heating the board only works for so long then stops working again but I'll done some more research and order some more parts to fry and sort it for good fingers crossed 🤞 and thank you for watching
Great work and good thing that you bought the xclamps. Sadly this is not a fix, there is no "reflowing GPU" at RROD, because it's a flip chip fail. You need to swap the GPU with a compatible fixed revision, or GPU mod it. Great work eitherway!

What's the GPU Mod?
@@FR4M3Sharma GPU mod is when you use a Fixed GPU on older board. It needs some changes on the board and software, but it's been done before. Xenon is the Hardest to do

Hey, I got a question how do you restore the online system? Because I need my Internet back do I need to replace a software
I'm not 100% sure I'm sorry l can't help you there. All l would do is Google it and hope you work it out
