    whats the night life like mate? being honest?

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +81

      Being honest, it obviously has it's limits in comparison to the likes of Nottingham/Manchester and other cities due to Loughborough only being a town; saying that, the nightlife is not as bad as the reputation it gets. You have a pretty big range of places to go: The Union, Firefly, Brooklyn Bar, Revs, Echoes and a few other bars, but obviously that is a lot less than a city.
      Having said that, the options available are decent and provided you have a solid bunch to accompany you it'll be a decent night. For example, freshers fortnight is a great laugh. (In all honesty, would recommend doing your best to get out every night in freshers) Also, the likes of Nottingham and Leicester are literally a 10 minute train journey, so you can always head there every so often!
      The fact it's a town pretty dominated by students also means that when you go out, it will literally be all students as well which I guess you can interpret how you like. (Gives it a friendly/safe vibe I guess)
      All in all, the nightlife is good. Nothing out of this world, but good! Hope that helps!

    This is actually extremely helpful. Especially for the oversea students (like me), because we did not have a chance to attend any open days etc. I am currently applying there through clearing. Facilities look really impressive.

    I graduated in 1969, so the campus has changed a lot! My future wife used to live in The Towers and I was in the original Hazlerigg. I remember my grant was around £300 a year and term fees were £70, fully catered! Tuition was of course free. Thanks for the update!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha awesome. Those fees you had to pay are unreal. From what I've seen when helping out this years freshers, they have to pay nearly that just for Freshers week events! Thanks for watching :)

      Loughborough itself is a sporty university, that being said, there are a hell of a lot of people that don't do much/don't do any sport at all! I think one thing that is important to remember is that your course and any extra curricular activities are completely separate, so I my advice to you would be pick the course/university you like, and then any extra curricular (whether that be sport/music/societies) are just an added bonus :) That's how I looked at it when I was picking the university anyway! Hope that helps :) (a last little thing, the fact it's quite sporty encourages you to live healthily I guess?)

    This has been so helpful. Went on a campus tour a while ago but this has just given so much more insight into the actual area. This is my first choice if I get the grades but still debating on whether I would want to stay in River balewell or hazelrigg-Rutland or in Telford because they've obviously got a bit of a price difference

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to have been of use! I get what you mean by that because when I initially went round the uni on the tour, I had pretty much completely forgotten it by the time I got home haha.
      In terms of Bakewell/Hazelrigg-Rutland vs Telford I think the main difference is the en-suite. I personally really liked having an en-suite in the first year as it was just convenient to have it in your room but you could easy go without it provided you get along well with your flat mates. The second obvious difference which you can see just by looking at the pictures online is the modernity of the first 2 when compared with Telford, i.e. Bakewell/Hazelrigg are a lot newer. Judging by the fact that Telford is positioned on the road through the student village I assume it's probably a lot louder at night due to people on their nights out whereas the other two are positioned at the bottom of the hill (more out of the way). But yeah, I won't say which to go with as that is completely up to you, just thought I would add the limited amount of knowledge I have haha.

    • @tierneyd9932
      @tierneyd9932 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GCDvlogs GCDvlogs I was only shown Telford on the tour and saw the other two online, but Telford just doesn't have that "halls vibe", like it just felt like a house haha. Yeh I was debating about en-suite and I would totally prefer it just because of privacy and timings and stuff. I know Telford may be like £2000 cheaper but I just prefer the look of the others and the types of room and stuff. Like you say, it's just much more modern. Thank you so much again.

    How much of a negative would you say going to a campus uni is over city? I love the uni but worried I'll limit my social life going as I'm not really into sport at all, any helps great thanks!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      oh sorry just seen this!
      hmm interesting question..in terms of a social life, the fact it's a campus uni boosts your social life in terms of social reach if that makes sense. Like because of communities such as the student village, everyone is closer together making easier to speak to a lot of people which I would assume may not be the case if you were to be in a city because people are more spread (I assume?).
      The fact you aren't into sport doesn't matter at all, not many of us do really haha.
      The one negative I would say is that there are less places to go out to (Bars/Clubs/Food places), which is pretty obvious because Loughborough is a town rather than a city.
      The fact that Loughborough is a campus uni really suits me because it's a very safe and friendly environment on campus and is very similar to being on my old school campus, which just makes the whole experience a bit more comfy but that could just be me haha.
      Sorry, i'll stop twittering on, hopefully that helps? If not, feel free to ask other questions! :)

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I wouldn't worry about the drinking side of things. I don't drink at all and so long as you say that, everyone is like "Oh fair enough, no worries" kind of thing. Honestly nothing to worry about haha. If you aren't a big city person then Loughborough sounds like the kind of place for you. Must admit, I know nothing about the art course itself, but in terms of making friends that won't be an issue AT ALL. I spoke about this in my town tour video, but everyone goes to uni in the same position, not knowing ANYONE, so everyone is absolutely lovely! Hope this helps :)

I've been looking at Birmingham uni cause I'm a council tenant in a small town in Worcestershire so i could keep my flat & train it every day, but Loughborough is really my number 1 choice bar the fact I'm not leaving my dog. Katie Marie Hi Katie, thank you for the lovely comment :)
      In terms of dogs being allowed in accommodations, if you are talking about on campus or private accommodations such as the ones run by Unite students, then as far as I am aware, dogs are not allowed. The only thing I can really think of is maybe getting a house as you would be allowed your pup there, but yeah in the big accommodations it's not allowed (which is poop but I kinda get why).

    I don't know if you're still reading comments but could you give an estimate of how much would be the living expense of a student living at the waterways per week or month? I know it changes from person to person but just your estimate. And do the expenses change if i live say in Nottingham?

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Aditya, sorry I am terribly late replying to this haha. To my understanding, at least when I was studying, per month I think rent was around £400-500 per month, food is very variable so lets say £20-30 a week? So I would say if you include rent in that overall number you're probably looking at around £500-600 a month. Funnily enough I live in Nottingham now and I would say it works out to be pretty similar costs wise :)

      California Dreamin' I cycled past the Purple Onion when I went through the student village, it was right at that start of that like little speedy bit through the village! As for a golf course?? Either there isn't one or I have never seen it haha

      GCDvlogs
      Morning :)) that was a quick reply !! My comment was a little tongue in cheek . As an Aero student from 68-72, on a thin sandwich course, I was always pleased to get back to Faraday after time out in Industry, and I was in Hall all the time. Initially in block 2, I migrated down the hill, next to the golf course !! Yes there was really was one. It was used by Civ Eng students for surveying, and it a bit hairy going for the odd lecture on the far side towards the motorway, a building site, because it was an active golf course. Of course it's now an extended student village.
      One amusing memory I have was hurtling down the hill for breakfast before it finished....and bouncing off the locked glass doors. Puzzled I made my way back up the hill, to slamming of doors as other students began their run for breakfast also......and then realising the clocks had changed and we were early , not late !!
      Remember work hard in work hard and play hard in playtime.....wish someone had told me that. Enjoy.

      I'll stress that the 3 year thing is only for Holywell, but yeah that's now £360 per year. Annual prices for both gyms is £215, so if you want to sign up for Holywell then you are much better off getting the three year deal. If you are signing up for powerbase then you don't get any choice as you can only sign up on an annual basis!
      I would go ahead and check the gyms out and see what suits you before paying for anything however as they are both insane gyms, but very different gyms!
      Hope this helps :)

    *REPLY TO CLUMBSYAGENDA* (For some reason it won't let me reply on your post)
    Thank you for the lovely feedback, really glad the video has been helpful! In terms of being socially anxious, I really wouldn't worry yourself at all, when you come to Uni everyone is in the same boat of not knowing anybody, so everyone is just really lovely and friendly! Uni has actually really helped with my self confidence, and I am sure you will find it the same. Freshers week really helps as an ice breaker as you meet a lot of people and make some great friends. Anyway I think I am kinda rambling on here, but the overall message is NO WORRIES :-)
    🙂
    Anyway, thanks again for the lovely feedback and I hope your exams results are fantastic! :D

      I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same for me too. I'm really counting on uni to help me with my social skills and getting out of my comfort zone so I can only be excited about that. It's also comforting to know so many people go or have gone through the same things as well and that it's not that big of a deal.
      Thank you! Just a few more days of exams now, so things are looking pretty good! :)

    Don't know if you're still replying to comments or not but I was wondering if Loughborough is a good place for an introvert, someone who doesn't really enjoy going out partying or playing shorts like rugby or football and lives more of the relaxed life and a small group of friends.

      TheEverlastingMortal hey mate! Your description there really isn't too far from describing myself, but for a little bit of sport. Although you'll hear all sorts of stories pre-uni about how all university is is partying and getting drunk and blah di blah di blah, a hell of a lot of students don't take part in that, so yes you'd be fine! I assume it's the same for every uni as well :)

    • @TheNinteno
      @TheNinteno 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      GCDvlogs Thanks for the reply. I guess my biggest fear is just not being able to 'fit in'. I was also wondering if there was like a video game society in the uni. Somewhere to just go and play video games with random people and have fun.

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At university everyone seems to gel almost, it's bizarre. Regardless of your personality and hobbies everyone gets along, at the start at least. In terms of whether there's a video game society, to be honest I don't actually know but I would assume there is. (I myself haven't paid too much attention to all the clubs and societies)
      Having had a little google search i've found this:
      "LSUCS stands for LSU Computer Society, we're a gaming-orientated society who run 6.5 LANs a year (a weekend long gaming event with tournaments and all sorts of gaming fun). We also have weekly socials on Tuesday at the Amber Rooms, a weekly online gaming event (Monday Night Gaming) as well as other stuff such as console nights and pub crawls. "

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video, I found it very informative! :) I don't drink and I was wondering if there is a wider variety of things to do other than partying sober? haha :) and do you know what the Psychology department is like?
    Thank you!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries, glad to hear that i've helped you out! Hmm, I myself don't drink either and I work at the students union as I thought that would be a fairly social way of getting out of my room making some friends, but also, earning those £$£$£$'s (lol), however I doubt that is what you mean when you say that 'other things' but I guess it could potentially be an option? haha
      Urm, to try and directly answer the question, there are hundreds of potential activities for you to do around the university with all the various different societies/clubs/sporting facilities. If by your question you mean, "is university completely revolved around getting absolutely "WASTED, DRINKING LEGENDSSSSS" ", then haiiiiiil no. During your time at university, and more specifically, at Loughborough you can literally do whatever you like!
      Is it difficult to make friends without drinking? Harder, admittedly, but still very easy as everyone at university is absolutely lovely!
      (^^I may have completely misunderstood what you meant with your question, if so, ask again haha)
      In terms of the Psychology department - I myself don't have a clue, however I asked around and found someone who does. They said the course itself is "Good/Great" and the teaching is "okay" so interpret that as you will :)
      Hope this helps!

      Hey mate! Good luck in applying :) Oh definitely, regardless of where your accommodation is, having a bike is so so useful due to the campus' size. Haha, what a question. :') In my case, I've had a girlfriend for the whole duration of my time of being at university so no. However my flatmates last year had a lot of success, and as I now work in the union on the bars, it would appear that the opportunity to "pull" is certainly there. (attempting to answer that question in the most politically correct way hahaha)

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JackSparrow hey mate, could you just remind me of the options that waterways offers? Then i'll be of far greater help haha :)

    • @JB777C
      @JB777C 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GCDvlogs well they're kinda vague. The Unite website lists 3 : Premium range 1, 2 and 3 (all ensuite).
      Also, I'm gonna be in the civil/building engineering dept, I'm guessing that's gonna be quite a walk?

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      JackSparrow as far as I remember the rooms are all identical (give or take a few inches lol); however some have favourable features such as having a nice view and a nicer kitchen seemed to come with the highest priced room. In all honesty, i'd go for a room with a view because otherwise there was the potential to have a window that looked straight onto a wall haha. As far as I'm aware there was only around a £10 per week difference aswell so apply for one with a view. If they give you the choice try and get block 23 as well. In terms of pros and cons:
      Pros:
      - really nice accommodation
      - decent sized rooms, nothing massive but decent.
      - sky sports on the tv's lol
      - very close to Sainsbury's and Teaco
      - place to put your bike (would definitely recommend getting one if your at Waterways)
      - doesn't get cold in winter
      - lovely receptionist
      - great storage space (Large wardrobe, draws, under bed space)
      - quiet
      - AMAZING desk, legit
      Cons:
      - no parking
      - 10-15 min walk from the campus
      - windows don't open very far so it can get v hot in the room
      - you have to pay to wash your clothes
      To be honest I can't think of many cons, yes it's out the way, but it's really not that bad to have a 10 minute walk in the morning haha. It will be decent for a post grad like yourself as well as you will have less of the silly freshers around.
      I've been saying it's a 10-15 walk to campus, but for you as you are in the engineering area, probably around 25-30 mins. What i'd recommend either, have a bike with you, or get a bus pass. (Think they are like £150-200) that bus would take you from a bus station fairly close to waterways all the way to uni.
      Think i've answered everything, if you need to ask anything else then feel free :)

    • @GCDvlogs

      The standard A-level offer from Loughborough is ABB or AAB :-) GCSE's are borderline irrelevant, they are more a stepping stone to get to A-levels! (That doesn't mean you suddenly stop working though!! I am not going to be known as a bad influence haha)

    Hey I was wondering how you found waterways, I'm considering staying there in my second year. Or do you know any other good accommodation for second and third year students? Any advice on finding a place to live? Very helpful video by the way!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +eileen1919 heya! Waterways is a very nice accommodation and very modern in comparison to the actual halls themselves. You get a fairly small room, but it is ensuite and the desk is so good. Nice communal kitchen area and in general any of my friends that came to my flat were like "wow shit this actually so nice". Are you currently a fresher now or are you a student looking into second year accommodation before you've joined? (Will influence how I answer :) )

      eileen1919 Okay cool. So having moved out of waterways this year and moving into a house, I have much preferred it this year. My house is literally just 2 mins from the uni and it's great. Having said that, living in waterways was very easy as a lot is done for you. The only problem with waterways is that it's a 15-20 min walk from campus. My advice would be look into getting a house but if that is not for you, then waterways is always a good option :)

    I got a question, Im planning on studying abroad at Loughborough University for the second part of the school year and Im looking for a place to rent that is relatively close to campus something like 2-3 bedrooms as a couple of friends are coming with me, do you have any recommendations? and if they will rent for half a year? and how much it will cost? I would really appreciated it.

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, by the sounds of it your best bet would be to look into the United Students accommodation, these are called Waterways, Asher House and..I can't remember the last one but there is one more. These accommodations are in the town, which is around 10-15 minute walk to uni, but I can't think of anything else you would be able to get. The housing rent period is from July - July (at least it is for my house), but you could always get in contact with the housing companies to see what they could do for you as the houses would be closer to the campus. Hope this helps :)

    Hey, thanks for the video - super, super helpful!! Just had a question - I'm a little concerned because tbh I'm not the sportiest person. I walk pretty much everywhere and I'm definitely not lazy but I just don't participate in any specific sports and I'm not a gym goer! A little concerned only because I know there's definitely an emphasis on sports at Loughs (which is great) but I would hate to feel like the odd one out. Do you know of people who don't participate in sports/aren't the most active and how they're finding it? Realistically, I know there's bound to be people like me but I think with the amazing athletic reputation it has, when you aren't that sort of person, it definitely makes you question whether it's right for you!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya! No worries, glad to have helped out :) A lot of people ask this and honestly, you really don't have to do sport at all at Uni! Everything is up to you in terms of what you do (clubs, societies, sports, even work I suppose as that's completely down to you haha). Me for example, at school I was very sporty but at uni I have done very little which is common.
      The way to look at it is; you go to university to get the degree, the sport/clubs are all just hobbies/side acts, so as good as the facilities are, try to think of them as separate entities.
      So overall no, nothing to worry about. There's (according to google) almost 20,000 students at loughborough, all of whom have many different interests and there is such a wide variety of people and personalities, at Loughborough, but also at every university, so don't worry at all!
      Hope this helps :)

      GCDvlogs can't thank you enough for this reply!! Thanks again, great videos (have binge watched a few) :)

    Are the Tution fees and other expenses which goes up to (International Students) - 102400 Pounds worth it? [102400 POUNDS] for 3 years worth it? How often are these facilities used and how is the faculty as compared to other top universities?!

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      102K??? are you sure about that sum because that's very high. In terms of whether it is worth it or not, I can't really answer that question for you as there are so many different factors in play. In terms of your facility usage, that's completely up to you and whether you put the effort in to use them. It's difficult for me as a student at Loughborough to not be subjective when giving my opinion, but the university is ranked 7th so take from that what you will, hope this helps :)

    • @rohan.chandratre
      @rohan.chandratre 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The Tuition fee for my course is £20k per year (International Students) plus Accommodation fees £6k plus other expenses makes it quite expensive for International students...Please let me know about the SCHOLARSHIPS or FELLOWSHIPS offered and how many gets them?

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christ! Didn't think it would be that much haha. Yet again I still can't really answer whether it is worth it, that's more for you to decide, do the pro's of having the degree outweigh the 102k spent on getting it? For you to decide really :) In terms of scholarships and fellowships, I know sporting scholarships are offered, but i'm not really the right one to be asking for that kind of info. Email the university itself and I am sure they will sort you out :)

Firstly, the sporting facilities within the university are literally world class, and I really do mean that. Hi-Pac (athletics track and indoor centre) for example is literally bafflingly incredible, the gyms also. High quality AstroTurf's are everywhere so it very easy to have a kick about and I feel that by having the facilities around you, it inspires you to get up and exercise which is pretty key to staying healthy at university. Obviously other universities have decent sporting facilities, but when I went around other uni's a few years back, none were even close to matching what Loughborough has so i'll count that as something unique haha.
      Secondly, (this isn't so unique, but important) the fact you are at university in a town gives the university and life in general a safe and chilled out feel rather than the rush of being in a city. This is where I feel it beats the London universities because London is hectic (and a hell of a lot more expensive I might add haha). But yeah, this has it limitations with cities obviously offering more out of university opportunities in terms of restaurants/clubs and what have you, but I really like being in a town.
      In terms of my best thing in the uni; rather than just regurgitating what I have just said i'll bring up another thing. It's not a physical thing as such but it's the universities RAG organisation. RAG is essentially short for challenges for charity, or atleast that's how I interpret it. So for example, last year I had to raise £3000 and because of that, I got to climb Kilimanjaro in the summer just gone (I made like a series of videos on it if you haven't already seen!) but there were all sorts of incredible opportunities that RAG offered: Dog sledding in the arctic, climbing to Macchu Piccu, Everest base camp just to name a few and all of these activities are things you could hardly imagine doing, so yeah, that's probably my favourite thing about the university (as well as it being a campus)!
      Hopefully this reply isn't too long haha, anyway, if you have anymore questions feel free :)

      By the looks of things there is a university in London itself, however it is for postgraduate students. The campus university based in Loughborough itself is the..I don't really know how to word it but 'proper' university? haha, the one that you go to if you are going to university as an undergrad :)

I myself had an en suite and I must say it was nice just to have it there and made the whole experience of living away from home a lot comfier, like not having to share a toilet and shower with people who start of as strangers. Can you choose your accommodation or is it allocated based on your course

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Accommodations have no connection whatsoever to the course (which I think is good because it allows you to get to know people from outside your course).
      So yeah you get to choose your accommodation and provided you put Loughborough as your firm choice, you get that accommodation for definite!
      If you put Loughborough as your insurance choice (i.e. me); it's luck of the draw and you pick preferences (e.g. Ensuite, Student Village, basically just features) and the Uni put you in the most appropriate possible.
      Hope this helps!

      Hey mate, apologies only just seen this, didn't realise people still watched this haha. You don't have to pay from what I remember, but you would usually have to book it (which isn't particularly difficult, just a bit of planning). But equally, if it's not booked, you can just walk on yeah.

    Hi there, a couple years late but I’m hoping to go in September, some worries we’re I’m doing graphic design is the building for that far away? Also is everyone nice? I have heard it can be quite cliquey? I’m hoping to go to hazel or bake well

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jess! Funnily enough, I may also be going back to Loughborough in September to do a masters so see you there haha (COVID dependent). Anyway, from memory the Graphics building is near the College right? If so, it's a bit of a walk from the student village but to be honest, despite what I say in this video about the campus being large, nothing is out of reach because of the buses/bikes etc. so I wouldn't let distance put you off.
      To answer the is everyone nice, like all walks of life, at uni you will meet people you do like, don't like and all of the in between. Because of this I would encourage you to, wherever you end up going, get yourself out there and get involved as it will improve your uni experience massively. May seem sad, but to be able to walk through campus and say hi to a few people that you know is a great feeling.
      I think cliqueyness may be quite widespread across all unis really, but yeah there was certainly some of that from my experience when trying to get into sports teams for example. I went to trials in first year and didn't get considered at all when I felt I was pretty decent, I went back in third year when I knew a few people and was straight into the team so lol. But, this adds to the above point, so long as you get yourself out there and spread your social circle, the cliqueyness shouldn't effect you at all :)
      Anyway, hope that helps! Any more questions then just fire away.
      (Random point, my ex went to Lincoln uni to do Graphics and she absolutely loved it so may be worth checking out?)

      Kastriot Salihu to my understanding it is pretty much a 50/50 split between catered and non-catered. A big reason for this is a lot of students who actually just like cooking themselves but there is also a fair few students who just can’t be bothered so the 50/50 split is pretty appropriate :)

    Is the gender difference as noticeable as people make out on nights out?

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heya, nope not at all. With Loughborough's ranking increasing it is becoming a more desirable university to go to for the, I guess, "prestige" of going to a top university. With that, the focus on it being a "sporty uni" is shifting (it's obviously still great for that, but a wider diversity of people now attend for a variety of reasons).
      With that in mind, there has been a shift from what you would consider being a male dominant environment to a far more balanced one. This isn't to say that girls/women don't do sport, they do, and lots do, but generally speaking that cultural shift of the university as a whole is leading to a more balanced gender ratio. This is therefore having a knock-on effect on night out ratio, so yeah, the whole "sausage fest" description is more a thing of the past. However, I don't go to the uni anymore so this might not be the case since I have left?

    Hi..Is there any part-time jobs available around the uni? Any experience to share about that? I couldnt find any info abt part-time jobs in loughborough. Please help

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Saan! I haven't lived in Loughborough since graduating, but I'll share my part-time job experience from Loughborough. I firstly worked at the students union as a bartender for around a year or so. The pay was decent but the hours are pretty tough to fit around your studies and social life. After that, I went and worked in a restaurant in the town which has now closed down but that was worse pay but better pay overall because of tips.
      Realistically Loughborough is a town so like any town there are jobs going, you've just got to go and find them. Working in bars/clubs/shops/coffee shops etc. and even within the university itself in the campus shops/clubs/union/tour guide team. Not sure how all of that will work with the COVID situation but yeah. Personally, I got the jobs through people I knew so I would really encourage getting out there and talking to people wherever you end up at university because that is what will help you :)

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +northweezie1 it depends in what context really. If you are looking to get into the main teams that play for the university and you are "shit" then there isn't much hope for that. But so long as you have an interest in sport, there is all sorts available to you. There's the option for recreational sport to do at your leisure, but also you can represent your hall which is a far more a achievable level of sport :) so essentially no it doesn't matter at all :)

    Hi there nice video was very helpful!! Just wanted to know what the difference is between the holywell gym and powebase gym

    • @GCDvlogs
      @GCDvlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      glad to hear!
      Holywell - Smaller gym, further away from centre of campus, more cardio focused, newest out of the two.
      Prices have changed dramatically from what I said in the video:
      £199 first year of joining, £150 next year, £100 third year.
      Powerbase - Huge gym, best gym I have ever seen, more of everything (squat racks, weights), more weights focused, still a lot of cardio stuff, far more central to campus.
      £199 per year
      So Holywell works out slightly cheaper, it is newer, however, it is also smaller and I would say quite far inferior to Powerbase.
      Hope this helps!
