Yet when Napoleon's created the first eighteen Marshals of the Empire in 1804, the choices were of equal number (nine) of the Army of the Moselle and Rhine and the Army of Italy. Masséna really was one of the great French looters of the era and it really hurt his campaigns half the time. A huge part of the blame for inciting so many Spaniards to rebel falls completely on him. A wizard on the battlefield, but an absolute tool when it came to ensuring compliance from the local population and actually ruling them
Massena and Augereau were from poor, impoverished backgrounds, not gifted with Kingdoms like Murat or Joseph to rule as their own. This is brilliant and it adds more knowledge of Napoleon than what I know now since high school. Napoleon Bonaparte has been one of my favorite generals since high school is tactics and his courage in his early days were magnificent. No wonder he was an influence in the American Civil War.
His influence in the United States spanned back much farther than that. In the 1820's, Henry Clay accused Andrew Jackson of being an American Napooleon.
Robert E Lee used Napolean's tactics of splitting his army a lot of the time with good results. As one of Lee's General's put it "Get there fastest with the mostest".
It is fascinating seeing the origin stories of these men that would eventually become the masters of France (Napoleon himself, Suchet, Lannes, etc). These are such fantastic videos.

-Greetings from The Philippines.
I'm going to see it again. This is too epic. Thank you, EHTV!
Para mi, este canal tiene los mejores documentales de las campañas napoleónicas que he visto en mi vida. Gracias por poner los subtítulos en español para poder disfrutarlas, sigan subiendo mas por favor, saludos.
Compliments to Keith Rocco, Art work is beautiful

I am so happy for this, thank you so much, I love your work people. Greetings from Uruguay!
It is fascinating seeing the origin stories of these men that would eventually become the masters of France (Napoleon himself, Suchet, Lannes, etc). These are such fantastic videos.
Been waiting this for over 2 years. THANK YOU SO MUCH EH TV !.
