  • A one rock dam is an erosion control structure built in the bed of a straight, low-grade channel using a single layer of rock. This video provides further information on the function and purpose of one rock dams, and walks you through building a one rock dam step by step, with visual cues.
The videos in this series serve as visual companions to the Erosion Control Field Guide from Craig Sponholtz, Avery C. Anderson Sponholtz, and Watershed Artisans.

No filter cloth? Your concept and my reality of water flowing are very different. Those rocks would be downstream here. Can you video one rock damn at work?

Yes, I agree. this appears to be well under 5% grade, so this structure is really a spreading field, rather than an erosion control dam. I also would love to see how it performed in the recent rains in this area. I suspect it was overwhelmed, and possibly buried, rather quickly.
