Blood Sweat and Tears video and song were built and written based on Demian, a novel by Hermann Hesse, who won a nobel prize in literature back in 1946. I read this book (because of this Mv) and I'll try my best to interpret and summarize the story here.
The story follows a young boy named Sinclair who had a friend named Demian. Demian acted as Sinclair's mentor during his childhood and transition to adulthood. Sinclair as a young adult experienced series of existential crisis, believing he lived in between the world of light (the world of illusion, full of goodness) and "the dark world" (the real world which was full of lust, temptation, anger and evil world).
Demian, and later on Sinclair's another mentor Pistorius, believed that in order to become a full person a human needs to embrace both of their light and dark sides. This will then lead Sinclair to find out about Abraxas, the god of light and darkness.
There are sooo many imageries and jawdropping details on the MV that represent details in the book. But the point is this song is about the loss of innocence and temptation, about being a human and embracing both of your good and dark sides.
The scene where Jin kissed the statue (which I believe the representation of Abraxas) means he seals the deal with the devil himself in order to fully embrace himself as a person who isn't perfect, full of flaws.
The white and black doors represent the world of light and the real world. Suga playing piano represents Pistorius who was an organ player in the story. The phrase that RM read in English here was also taken from the book, page 26 (on the version that I read). It says "He too was a tempter, he too was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer have anything to do."
"He" here refers to Demian, that Sinclair once thought as a bad influence for him, maybe it's because Sinclair tried to deny his dark sides.
The book is heavily influenced by a swiss philosopher and psychiatrist Carl Jung. One of his pupils was Hermann Hesse's doctor back then. This MV and song are also influenced by a german philosopher Nietzche. There's a quote by him on the wall above the painting that Jin is staring at. It is in German but it means "You must have chaos within you in order to give a birth to a dancing star". Again, the same theme occurs here, about embracing both of your light and dark sides. Only by accepting your flaws and mistakes you can reach your true potentials.
Hesse learned a lot about Jung's psychoanalysis and experienced it himself so that was why Demian was heavily influenced by it. What makes it even more interesting, BTS album MOTS 7 is also based on Carl Jung's theory (hence the songs Persona, Shadow, and Ego were born-- these 3 elements are important in Jung's theory Maps of the Soul).
BTS are deep. They talk about real things like the pain of growing up and youth's experience. They literally make a lot of armys become smarter and read on classic literature like this because of them. lol. Welcome to the fandom!
(Please note once again that this is all my own interpretation after reading the book, take it with a grain of salt.)

This was based on a book called "Demian" by Herman Hesse about seduction and temptation. I'm starting to read it. One of my favorite song and strong meaning to it. 💜

Bookish Theories does a GREAT explanation video on this. So much symbolism in the vid that relates to the book, also repeated story-lines in the BU (BTS Universe - a side story within BTS with a webtoon, videos, notes, album liner notes, and is a deep dive into itself). Plus the song is a banger :) as always BTS wraps meaning within clues within meanings, and is always open to interpretation. BTS is rarely ever "surface level" Glad your enjoying your journey.

As has been mentioned, this music video was inspired by the book Demian by Herman Hesse. A lot of the imagery is directly related to the book and/or symbolic of things related to the book and the narration during the little interlude is actually a direct quote from the book.
It is all about temptation and the loss of innocence. You'll notice a lot of black and white...a black door and a white door, a black statue and a white statue, etc. The painting at the beginning depicts the battle between heaven and fallen angels. The other paintings in the music video are the Fall of Icarus and the Lament for Icarus.

Everything about this song is iconic. Jimin's intro is iconic V with his blonde hair and his parts are iconic. RM's "chocolate cheeks and wings" is iconic and the list goes on, but the most iconic one is definitely j-hope's "wanhae manhae manhae"

Will they be doing more natural instruments? Check out the performance of Black Swan : Art Film, then watch their official MV, and also the Live performance at the Late Late show with James Corden where they absorbed some of the Art film into their own choreography in their version of the song. The Art film uses more classical instruments and uses a dance group who does ballet/contemporary dance while doing it barefoot. You will see why BTS also does this type of dancing and in bare feet.

RM is a huge fan of museums and his love for books rival that of museums haha 😄 it's cool you have a love for museums too. He's also donated and as a group they've done collaborative works 💜

The dance practice video is worth watching. The choreography reflects the theme of this song. If you like interpreting symbolism, this music video is full of Easter eggs.
And since you like museums, look up RM's recent vlog where he attended an art expo in Switzerland.

TBH, your interpretation to me felt a bit conventional American (I guess I am presuming you are American which may be a presumption). Americans tend to gravitate to the idea that most songs somehow involve interpersonal relationships. This song is significantly more complex. I recommend you watch an explanation video as the simplistic understanding you relayed is a bit of an injustice to both the artistry you watched and also to yourself as an intelligent individual. I have always found value in docents in museums which is something you claim to love. May I suggest one by XCeleste if you care to be challenged to put on your thinking cap.

All BTS songs and mv’s do have an underlying meanings to it. For explanations if you care to listen to them xCeleste, DKDKTV and Bookish Theories do offer rather insightful explanations.
