ABOUT US
The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is rooted in a tradition of unique craftsmanship and ingenuity. Tracing its beginnings to the laying of the #USCapitol cornerstone in 1793, the AOC is responsible for the operations and care of more than 18.4 million square feet of facilities, 570 acres of grounds and thousands of works of art. The Capitol campus is home to 30,000 daily occupants and hosts more than 3 million visitors annually.
Today, there are more than 2,000 AOC employees serving around the clock in diverse roles to maintain and preserve the buildings and grounds. Iconic landmarks under our care include the U.S. Capitol, Capitol Grounds, Capitol Visitor Center, House office buildings, Library of Congress, Senate office buildings, Supreme Court buildings and U.S. Botanic Garden.

Had the absolute honor of taking a private tour of Congress with my teenage children and you can't help but feel so incredibly proud and humbled to be an American. It truly is a beautiful and majestic place.

As someone from the U.K. when I first heard the word capitol I immediatly thought to the hunger games. I literally had no knowledge that there was an actual place in the US called the capitol until recently lmao.

Such a wonderful video of the Capitol. I follow up on videos such as this one after having a dream the night before. And there is one area of the Capitol that is described very accurately in my dream which is called Emancipation hall. Please continue these very interesting videos. I hope someday I can visit the Capitol after watching this. But after what has happened I don't think there will be visitors anytime soon. What a shame that a bunch of Domestic Terrorists ruined it for us who want to visit. Please be safe.

Capitol dome : 96 feet diameter dome built in the first years of the 1800's, started in 1793.
The pantheon : 142 feet diameter dome, built around 126.

I am proud to have ancestors who defended this Capitol during the Civil War, repulsing Jubal Early's raid. I am ashamed of those who desecrated this building in the recent riots. I hope they serve long sentences in a cold federal prison cell.
