DnD may be more popular, but try finding a video this in depth about Sune and you'll be left sorely lacking. Seriously great video.

Thanks. The people over at Paizo really do great work. It's a blast to put these videos together.

@@Podfinder If anything it says more about DnD. You try to put a lore video together for any god other than Selune, Mystra, Shar, the Dead Three, Corellon, Lolth, and MAYBE Asmodeus... you'll get a 7 minute video tops. You can't even find a simple answer like which god presides over weddings. No god holds the portfolio of marriage or family. Lathander is mentioned in weddings in his role as god of new beginnings, but he's not the God of Marriage. DnD really said quantity over quality. Then again, I don't think the gods have really done anything new in the lore since the Spellplague, and I think that was back in 3.5e or something. We're long overdue for DnD to ACTUALLY do something with the gods.

I'm playing a Cleric of Shelyn in a 2e adventure path. We don't spend a lot of time roleplaying unfortunately, but as an officer of Absalom's security forces, he gets to protect people. The idea is that everyone deserves *real* safety, so that they don't have to commit much of themselves- their limited lives- to their own safety. Then they will have time for bettering themselves (irori's ideals of physical, mental and spiritual greatness being a path to becoming beautiful) or creating something beautiful out in the world. He is the party medic, and views healing someone physically and mentally (curing both kinds of scars) helps them accept their own beauty instead of rejecting it.

I like this character breakdown. Good details.
I'm currently in a 1e AP (Return of the Runelords) and playing a paladin of Shelyn. Poor fellow is so confused (me, too, actually) as he started out as a Hellknight squire (Order of the Nail) then found himself killed and returned in a clone of the Runelord of Lust, Sorshen. Identity crisis ensues and s/he finds solace with the worship of Shelyn. A challenging character to play. (Any suggestions? LOL)

@@kythian That’s really cool! Maybe proceed with some ideals focused on preventing the corruption of beauty, the corruption of purity? That purity can only exist within civilization? And slowly break that down over time, asking why looking at something beautiful only brings memories of guilt and regret, after all your fighting? Not sure if I worded that well. Starting with a flawed, limited version of beauty which is fueled by fear of “worldly chaos.”

Shelyn- my favorite! Her variations on artwork are so fun. Thanks for another great video! I’m looking forward to next week’s already! 🦋

Shelyn works perfectly on a Redeemer Champion.

Amazing video! I'm thinking of playing a bard that attended a Shelyn bardic college. This video is perfect for inspiration,!

Are you aware of the Starfinder 2e mystic named Chk Chk? They are said to worship an amalgamate deity known as Zon-Shelyn so I was wondering if you had any thoughts on that craziness?

I personally find it distasteful that they did this, but they also haven't expanded on exactly how Zon-Shelyn came to be, so I'm hoping it's not as bad as I think it is.
Still, the idea of an entire deity becoming the "suffering artist" stereotype is troubling.

I recently became aware of this. I am both intrigued and nervous. Narratively, I find the prospect fascinating, and I expect that Paizo can handle it well. That said, I don't love the idea of perpetuating the idea of suffering for ones art being a good thing, so I have lingering concerns.

My one and only character I've played in Pathfinder was a Paladin of Shelyn (or Naderi, the Paladin doesn't know, though he was trained by and works with the Church of Shelyn). I played this character when PF2e was first released.

Hey, my first character (technically a GMPC) in pathfinder was a Paladin of Shelyn too!

This was great! I've got a bard who's deity is Shelyn so was good to get this overview. Turns out I made her more suited than I realized: pet songbirds, brightly colored outfits and hair, determined to see good in everyone, charitable, estranged brother and all! Let's hope mine doesn't come back so chain-y 😆

it's a bit funny, i'm one of those who play the same character over and over again and my character is an Atheist (God hating kind) but my character is also an Artist and a Craftsman because he believes in the beauty and passion of art, now he is Lawful Evil with similar ideas about the world (to alone dominate it), however the more i learn about Shelyn the more i like her and the more she fits as my characters patron deity (if he would have any), so i have begun to give him a soft spot for her
