Prepping our NEGLECTED Race Mini Bike for a 3 HOUR ENDURO | TrailMaster MB-200 Essential Mods!

  • The TrailMaster MB-200 is the best mini bike on the market. We built an endurance racing mini bike last year with a Tillotson 225, upgraded shocks, juggernaut torque converter, and more for the Gambler 500 mini bike enduro that ended up not happening! In today's episode, we're pulling our racing bike out from storage, where it had been abandoned in one of Ike's garages for nearly a year. We're prepping it for the GPS 180, a 3 hour endurance mini bike racing hosted by Go Power Sports. We get the Tillotson 225 running, make a few modifications to the engine, and a few modifications to the bike, and hit the track!

You have to shave the head until the spark plug touches the piston then use a copper washer to space the spark plug up, mines been like that for 20+ hours of use and runs super strong

Increasing compression ratio will make massive gains in torque. When you made such a massive gear change you didn't let these gains in torque shine through. The beauty of torque is that it allows for rapid acceleration even with the high speed gearing. With the 60 tooth rear sprocket it ripped through the lower RPM band so quickly you didn't get to FEEL the torque at work. Put a speedometer on the rear tire and check the speed from 2500 engine RPM to 4500 engine RPM with the 54 tooth and the 60 tooth. Assuming the torque is available to pull the 54 tooth ratio, the bike will have accelerated faster and to a higher top speed. Run the track again with the 54 tooth.
Exhaust changes are huge when going from any legal noise suppressing exhaust to open exhaust. On a single cylinder engine it is hard to beat a straight pipe, BUT, tune-able exhaust will allow for fine tuning the powerband for a given track.
In my life I have run Supertrapp exhaust on everything from a XR75 to a daily driven FJ1100 Yamaha. Buy one and experiment with it. You will learn a LOT about tuning motorcycles.
I better quit before Charles accuses me of obfuscating. ;)

    • @joshuagerlach6943

That Tillitson 225 is great for limited race classes, but the cost is too prohibitive for the average mini bike owner. A salvaged Yamaha/Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki four stroke 250 dirt bike engine is hundreds less and would slaughter the Tillitson 225.

As kids trying tune 50cc engines we would double the base gasket, rub the head dead flat on a sheet of glass and install it on a much thinner homemade head gasket (usually thin copper) checking squish with a bead of plasticine on the piston. Never really knew if it made a difference, but we swore it did.

  • @lukecombs5242

Break clean in the engine isn’t good for the seals it will melt the valve seals and other rubber gaskets and seals it comes into contact with use starting fluid or carb and choke cleaner but I suggest no more break cleaner in the engine fellas read on the can it says to not use it on rubber seals and gaskets.and I can’t wait to see the race 🤙🏻 and a little tip I’ve rode bikes for about 35 years and I’ve found when breaking on a two wheeled machine you always want to use more pressure on the rear brakes cause if you grab the front harder than the rear in in loose dirt or sand the front end will dig in and wash out and you will loose the front end 9/10 times depending on how much brake pressure you apply be safe that little bike looks like a ripper👍🤙🏻

It has to be a nice belt sander

A nice piece of 10mm+ glass, blue dye and 120, 320 then 600 grade rubbing compound thinned with turps using a figure 8 pattern and rotating. You can't hold it engineering square on a sander by hand. Getting away with it doesn't equal right.
