I missed this when it was broadcast Angus but im really glad to have been able to hear your chat with Andy, I've had the pleasure of talking to andy twice on Ryk Goddards program, i hope you enjoyed your interview as much as we did hearing it. Thanks forvyour chanel and the series about Glenorchy. Ps my wife loves to go for walks retracing your little journeys.
I've been looking forward to each of your videos, I hope this interview brings you to lot more viewers. You are a great story teller Angus. Maybe an ABC series will will be considered.
Well done. Would be great to see a documentary in partnership with Cement Australia on the one and only underground coal mine that has existed for over 150 years in Cornwall , Fingal Valley. This mine supplied coal to develop industrial and transportation history in Tasmania yet little unknown.
Fantastic interview, I just wish they would have let you talk a little more! I love the photos, some are in recentish times too (well, I'm in my 40's now so I guess its not that recent)
"Hiraji was owned by F. W. Hughes and trained by J.W. McCurley. In the 1947 Melbourne Cup he carried a weight of 7-11 (109 pounds and was ridden by Jack Purtell. Starting at odds of 12/1 in a field of 30 runners he won the cup by half a length from Fresh Boy."
Good that you're getting some traction Angus. Well deserved. Love your work. Unfortunately what we got here was typical ABC. Its the same all around the country. They get all these interesting guests on. Then they talk all over the top of them. Then they interrupt the whole thing because someone from the suburbs rang with their two cents. Thank goodness for alternative media and the long form interview.
@jessicalamb2748thank you, is it taken looking north? I have heard that Coles New World used to be roughly where Big W is now but have never seen it in pictures.
Yes, it's taken north looking towards where Northgate is today. Yes, Coles used to be located where big W is now. I can remember going there as a kid. There was also Beakley's arcade just off from it which also fronted onto the main road.
They hardly let you get a word in. Pretty disappointing, but glad to hear you on the radio in the first place. Hopefully there will be more opportunities in future!
Andy has a very limited time to do these interviews, they are done live and on location with Zero Editing, it's a hard job to keep them interesting, (I know because I've been the subject of two of them) he does an excellent job considering the time constraints.
Angus you lived on the eastern shore and went to school there so why are you focused on the western end of town namely glenorchy and the zinc works now is not even producing The product where my dad worked in shift work around the clock for so many years and still think the fumes ended his life when he was in the leeching devision even thinking now the smell of sulphur surrounding the hell hole when we were kids riding our bikes there as we thought it was fun 😮
I love interviewers who both ask and answer the questions, shame there wasn't more of you to hear! All the best for 2025 to you and the subscribers.
Yes, it was a waste of time having a guest on that show.
Oh mate ... I'm just like let the man talk ..
Said the same thing to my partner while we were listening. Thankfully there was a great slideshow to watch while the hosts were talking.
Well done Angus!

Main road, Glenorchy

Was this interview done outside? Also have a great new year.
😊❤
Good interview.....but even better if the interviewer would shut up and let him answer the last question before you ask the next one
